Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Simply put, if they don't put BT Sport on Virgin, (some) people will move to Sky. Whether through BT BB or by signing up just for the sport, either way BT gets new customers.
Going through Virgin just gets them a few bob from people who now have no incentive to go to BT. --- Compulsory complaint about no Sky Sports 3 HD. |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Just my personal opinion,I think BT Sport will be made available to Virgin customers because 1) BT will want to get as many people as possible watching their new sports channels and 2) Virgin wont want to loose any customers who may well otherwise defect to either Sky or BT.
Incidently I`ve noticed BT sports is listed on the Freeview EPG so presumedly it will be available some how on that platform? Is Top Up Tv a sepperate company to Freeview? I`m only guessing but as BT want complete control of managing sles of the channels to get it on freeview you will have to buy a viewing card from BT as you did when Getting Setanta on your freeview box. Does anyone know about this at all? |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
BT Sport is on Freeview so people with BT Vision that can't get infinity can still watch.

Rio Ferdinand's testimonial to be shown live on BT Sport
BT Sport will air Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand's testimonial live via their television channels, as well as online streams. The 34-year-old, who is a BT Sport ambassador, will lead a United side against Sevilla at Old Trafford on August 9, just a few days before the Red Devils mark the start of their campaign with a FA Community Shield clash against Wigan Athletic. As well as broadcasting live, BT Sport have reached an agreement with Streamworks International to air the match to 170 countries via Riotestimonial.com. "Manchester United is a unique club with fans in every corner of the globe so I am delighted that my testimonial is going to be so widely available to all of the club's supporters in so many countries," said Ferdinand. "It is going to be a fantastic and fun evening and there will be famous sporting faces and celebrities popping up all over the place, so it should be an incredible night." UK viewers will be able to watch the live stream for free. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/off-the-...ial_92651.html |

When do SKY and BT announce their Premiership fixtures? I thought it was supposed to happen yesterday
---------- Post added at 17:24 ---------- Previous post was at 17:21 ---------- BT confirm their opening SPL fixtures http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/off-the-...res_92730.html "The broadcaster, who will show a total of 30 games from the top flight, start their coverage with Dundee United's trip to Partick Thistle on August 7. Other fixtures include Aberdeen against champions Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium on August 17 and Kilmarnock's home tie with Motherwell on August 31." |

Ah yes the Sky fixtures and those I won't be seeing as I won't be paying for BT even if VM get it...

If anything that list of games on BT will now make negotiations go carry the channels clearer. VM can argue that the value to its customers is reduced so the price they will pay will be more realistic.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Because BT only have 18 decent games, looks like they've used more than half before 2014.
I'm going off a game being a decent one by it having a T4 team in it (or Liverpool), making Norwich/Villa the only pick from their 20 far lesser games. |

Personally I find BT's offering a bit underwhelming and based on that list of fixtures alone I'd not be fussed if we get BT or not.
If Sky still get the lions share of the games, rugby, Ryder Cup, etc then that's fine with me. I'll miss the Scottish Footy and Baseball from ESPN, but lets be honest if I'm desperate to see any of that stuff there are ways and means. |

It is no good members saying don't worry about the delay in VM not announcing anything about BT.
Its about time that VM sorted out this problem, its been on the Sky EPG for weeks, it does not take five minutes to tell customers, yes there is an agreement between VM / BTand this is what is happening - simples. But , this is typical of VM to keep there customers waiting. |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
The town where I live is a Virgin Media stronghold. Almost everyone I know has Virgin Media. For the sake of my family and friends, plus my chums here, I hope Virgin do get BT Sports. Come to think of it, I don't know a single person who gets their TV from BT.
I must admit however BT Sports Premiership line-up is not blowing me away. Only 3 Premiership games per month all at 12:45pm kick-off. It's not really a spot that appeals to me personally. I might be able to live without BT Sports. |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Lets put it this way.
I am a VM customer, and l feel that they should keep us more up to date with channels, and with news that will effect us. I am always getting that crappy mag each month, telling us what a super company it is, what great movies are coming up. Its not me whinging about Why we have not got it. But l cannot understand why there customers services don't say ' yes we are in talks, we will be testing etc' We had the same problem with the basic package problem, then they spent a damn fortune on advertising the fact ' its always nice to make up' these were the signs going up around Hounslow. What they going to do, tell us a couple of days before the start of the season ' we now have BT Sport' They are quick enough to tell us about putting up prices. |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

I can also understand people being worried about not getting BT sports on Virgin, and having to consider changing TV provider. Not knowing what is happening right until the last minute doesn't put anyone at ease. I would have to say that since I left Virgin back in December, they have actually upped their game in terms of delivering channels, content and communication. I still think that recent information slip about BT Sports on Virgins website was not an error. I'm fairly certain a deal has been done. People just need to hold on for 20 days and all will be revealed. |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
The BT Premiership line up is really disappointing, as there isn't much difference between theirs and ESPN, apart from the kick off times. They surely didn't have first choice, or if they did; the person who chose the line up, should be sacked.

If you don't have SKY or BT Sports there is plenty of free to air football from the middle of July to the end of August.
17th July - Cliftonville v Celtic - Champions League Qualifier - 19:45 - BBC Scotland 28th July - Albion Rovers v Rangers - Ramsdens Cup - 16:05 - BBC ALBA 11th Aug - Man Utd v Wigan Athletic - FA Community Shield - 14:00 - ITV 14th Aug - England v Scotland - International Friendly - 20:00 - ITV 16th Aug - Partick Thistle v Hearts - SPL - 19:45 - BBC ALBA 17th Aug - Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday - Championship - 12:15 - Pick TV 17th Aug - Swansea City v Man Utd - Premier League - 17:30 - Pick TV 30th Aug - Bayern Munich v Chelsea - UEFA Super Cup - 19:45 ITV For free that is a very good line up. A bit of everything really. |

Wow, BT would have been better off keeping its games under wraps! The mystery was making me really worried that I'd be missing out if we didn't get BT Sports. But after seeing that list and seeing that every game is at 12.45 on a Saturday, I'm quietly hoping that BT Sports won't go on XL and we'll all get some money off instead!
|
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Not much point in me getting it as I'm at work most Saturdays
|
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
BT have 8 out of 20 weekends first pick and sky 12/20 for the remaining games.
BT got 5/13 first picks and Sky used 8/13 for that period. Clearly BT will have a greater number of better games in the 2nd half of the season. Early games, even big ones, tend not to be that great anyway. |
