Qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League you mean?

Tonight isn't like the result of the weekend. We played a weakened team away in the Champions League, it's not an issue finishing 2nd when you see the teams that we could have faced had we finished first (AC Milan, Madrid and PSG so far!)

it was a nothing game considering selection but the team done well first half. Rosicky going off at HT killed it for the second half but so did bad decision making by our players. anyway first half saw Chamakh up for it which pleased me. i am though kind of annoyed we didnt win with Schalke being held to a draw in France so our friends really did do their bit. anyway hey ho on we go to the last 16.

Aww nuts. Should have known that would backfire. My bad, sorry. Still they could? They need to win 16 (they already have three). They could win 16 over the course of, say, 30/40/50 years.

Haha indeed it did backfire.

They may need only win another 16 but being realistic that is hard to do even over 30-50 with the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal (when both can actuality get there heads in gear) and no doubt other teams in the future will challenge

I'm puzzled, I never said City was a great team. i am saying Man utd isn't.

I remember Liverpool fans lauding on about what they had won. As years go bye, looking back might be your only pleasure.

As to Man City, I am saying that overtime, I see them always challenging. They have come a long way over a short time.

And i don't think mancini is the manager to do it. But only my view :D

day 2 of 2 for the remaining CL group fixtures (matchday 6).

Group E - Shakhtar Donetsk(10pts) v Juventus(9pts). Chelsea(7pts) v Nordsjælland(1pts). Chelsea to win and hope Shakhtar win too. Juve need a draw or win to progress.

Group F - Already qaulified Bayern(10pts) and Valencia(10pts) fight for top spot. Bayern are in the driving seat on head-to-heads vs Valencia. The pair face the other two in the group BATE(6pts) and Lille(3pts). BATE have EL in the bag. Bayern v BATE. Lille v Valencia.

Group G - Qaulified and group winner Barca(12pts) face Benfica(7pts) while Celtic (7pts) play Spartak Moscow(3pts). Celtic need to better Benficas result to progress. head-to-heads go against Celtic.

Group H - already qaulified and group winner Utd(12pts) play Cluj(7pts) who need to better Galatasarays(7pts) result away at Braga(3pts) to progress.

Giroud is good but after that we don't have anything. Maybe we'll bid for Suarez.

Anyway my point about goal.com is they just say anything. Henry may come back but I doubt they know anything about it, just pretending to for the page views. How many players would we have signed if you believed goal.com? It's as good as useless as a source. The BBC, Mirror and Telegraph all have better sources at Arsenal and haven't said anything.

It's really unfair if that is the standard Arsenal are judged against. It's not as if something has changed in the last few years! We should be the third club nipping at the reals of City and Chelsea but when City can buy the best players in the world summer after summer then winning the title is hard.

Always the League Cup!

This is turning into a nightmare for me, with Juventus winning and Chelsea winning does this mean Chelski are through or Europa League?

Points first. Then it's head to head between the two teams. Then goal difference.

Looks like all my bets have gone out the window. Chelsea only need 1 more goal and there can stay in CL

GOAL - Chelsea 6-1 Nordsjaelland - Oscar

MalteseFalcon 05-12-2012 22:18

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

So with a loss and draw against Juve, it doesn't matter how many Chelsea win by they will be in Europa League? And if Donetsk equalise, Chelski still in Europa?

nstokes 05-12-2012 22:19

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Seems Chelsea will stay in the CL now. Now watch all the fans start cheering the manager manager instead of booing him

Oh seems i am wrong as i didnt know it was head to head before GD. Woohoo Chelsea will still be out

According to BBC website, Juventus and Donetsk through to next round, Chelsea in Europa. Excellent. Just what I want, shame they won't go same way as City though.

Group G - Qaulified and group winner Barca(12pts) face Benfica(7pts) while Celtic (7pts) play Spartak Moscow(3pts). Celtic need to better Benficas result to progress. head-to-heads go against Celtic.

Group H - already qaulified and group winner Utd(12pts) play Cluj(7pts) who need to better Galatasarays(7pts) result away at Braga(3pts) to progress.

what a peno. Celtic going through as it stands. a Barca goal will help.

MalteseFalcon 05-12-2012 22:25

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

BBC on why Chelsea are out.

So why exactly are Chelsea going out? It all goes down to their head-to-head record with Shakhtar Donetsk. Both teams have 10 points, but the side from Ukraine will go through because they scored more goals at Chelsea than the London club managed in the reverse fixture. (This comes on the list of qualification criteria after goal difference and goals scored between the two teams - both of which were the same).

If you are interested, that is Champions League rule 7.06, sub-section d).

I'm sure you knew that...
