Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Why bother with much of a press release at all? All it'll say is "Virgin Media customers can now enjoy repeats of Only Fools and Horses on Watch HD, oft repeated documentaries and repeats of repeats of Sharpe an hour later and some repeats of cooking programmes in HD", while over the page we're advised that series 2 of Boardwalk Empire is starting, but not for us!
Apologies for the bitter rants, people, it's just with every new series premier that comes along which I'm wanting to see but missing it gets that extra bit frustrating. |

All reference to Box Nation being on Virgin has now been removed:
http://www.boxnation.tv/ WTF? Does anyone know if Box Nation really are in talks with Virgin? I e-mailed Box Nation 2 days ago asking for more info regarding their launch on virgin but nothing back so far. As crazy as this might sound I will have to leave Virgin if this isn't coming to cable. Forget movies, forget football, forget on demand, forget HD, boxing is my main passion and not being able to access a dedicated boxing channel is too much for me to take. If anyone knows something is in the pipeline, but can't post here, please PM me. I just called Virgin customer services who know nothing about the channel. I don't want to leave Virgin because I have a sweet deal on my package however there comes a time when a difficult decision has to be made, and I'm about a day away from making it. |

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Having browsed the forum for many many months, I was forced to join to make use of the really useful "ignore" function, but there appears to be no escaping the repeated posts as they are either "quoted" by other members or you end up with a page of:
"This message is hidden because xxxxxxxxxxx is on your ignore list." I have liked browsing and getting information from this forum up until the last few weeks, where someones posts has bordered on complete spamming, repeating everything he or anyone else says, questioning Media Boy on typing errors or information or repeating several questions over and over again. Rather than tell members to use the ignore function, can a warning not be given to the spammer....half of the information mentioned is not factual or backed up from key sources like MBs or it is always argumentative from the poster in question or what he would really really like (and now that Sky Movies Classics HD is launching, its something else he wants - christ there is only so many hours in day to watch TV and I think a few hundred channels is enough at the moment...). Also - isnt Sky Movies Classic - just going to upscale classic movies that were not filmed in HD - which the TiVo or some TVs do anyway.....so whats the fascination in having a Classic HD channel???? Sorry to rant, and I didnt join to actually post much, but basically this is a goodbye totally (no more browsing from me on here) as I am getting fed up of having to browse about 20 pages now to get some useful information on what is coming soon. Thanks for your many months of information Media Boy. Andy. PS - to keep this on topic, my TiVo has reset twice this evening....is it a sign of attempted updates??? perhaps I might have a channel 890, 891, 892, 893 appear.... :) ;) Good bye. |

FINAL WARNING: This thread is attracting far too many complaints out of all proportion to it's benefit to the forum. Be civil to each other. Don't repeat the same stuff incessantly or just rewording what you have already said. We know a lot of stuff is speculation, rather than solid fact. There is no need to keep recovering old ground. If you don't want to read someone's posts then you may use the ignore feature. If you keep quoting each other then you continue the circular stuff, and add fuel to the fire that the quoted person may believe they are relevant in some way. Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
"Gleen" over at the Nialli's HD blog has been told ITV2,3,4 HD are coming to Virgin Media in november. Go to near the bottom of this page http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blo...54304946013383

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
It was Glenn, and he said he was told November....
Quoting unsubstantiated comments in another forum or blog isn't very helpful - repetition of unsubstantiated claims only devalues any valid information you may provide, if I can offer you some advice. |

ITV 2, 3, 4 HD will come eventually IMO.
IMO the big one to get still is Sky sports HD 3&4. |

I mostly watch Sky Sports HD 1&2 cause most of the top sport is on there but sometimes like yesterday it's on Sky sports 3&4. So having 3&4 in HD will come in handy. Sky Sports News HD will be nice to have but not a big deal. Sky News HD I don't care about cause it's a horrible channel. |

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
What I'm most curious about, is which HD channels will become available to which tiers, i.e. do these new ones only apply to those with L and XL packages or are M+ getting a few of them in addition to the regular BBC HD, BBC ONE HD, ITV 1 HD, 4 HD, 5 HD.
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Personally, I can't see M+ getting more than the six HD channels it has anytime soon.
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
i reckon the UKTV channels will be on the L and XL package
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Quote:
http://shop.virginmedia.com/digital-tv/channels.html M pack will always closely mirror Freeview. As Freeview will only have 5 HD channels, that's what will be on M too. I reckon Film4 HD will move at some point. Looking at the list, all the other terrestrial HD channels (BBC/ITV/CH4&5) are in the L pack but no other HD channels beyond that. I think the L pack will contain all the rest of the terrestrial HD channels when/if launched on cable ie ITV2 HD etc, but everything else will go in XL. With XL containing all non-premium HD channnels, it's become the HD pack by default. I'd expect most of the SD channels not currently available in the L pack to move there to highlight this fact even more. You can imagine a future VM advert saying, "if you want HD go XL, with a tivo base." I'm sure some marketing person will be paid a fortune for coming up with such a "original" idea...:) Quote:
