I have always taken the view, if I'm not happy, i'll move.

If I'm screwed, and can't move..I reflect the better aspects of an elephant, I don't forget and do something when I can.

Complaining is ok, but as poster above says, this is not cutting the muster (prefer the original than mustard :) )

Wait, am I complaining about complaining!...noooo, the vicious circle has started :)

agree completely, VM are not going to take notice whether you get stressed or not so my point of view is there are a lot more serious things for me to get angy over and a few HD channels being missing until they upgrade my headend is not going to get done any quicker with me complaining about it.

I know that complaining will not change the current situation but perhaps by expressing our dissatisfaction VM will think more carefully about how they handle things in the future.

Fact is the roll out would have happened in the way that it is, there would always be a staged roll out, probably no way round that and yes some of us are going to have to wait a bit longer than others, but what they COULD have done is to have handled the process of disseminating the information better. The fact that we only find out about what is happening through user forums is quite frankly appaling. And my understanding is that some people approaching VM directly to find out this information are not just misled but are given wrong information. This level of service is not acceptable.
Spot on Thankyou
If we don’t express our dissatisfaction - and as loudly as we can - then there is no incentive for VM to clean up their act.

I appriciate that user forums are probably not the most effective places to let VM know of our frustrations (I dont for one minute think VM have a policy of monitoring these forums - otherwise they would be better informed (my appologies to the members of VM staff that regularly DO visit and comment on these forums, your input is valuable, I am pretty sure that you do this off your own back and that it is not because of a policy by VM)).

To add validity to our complaints then we should also direct them at VM.

Spot on Thankyou

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

The most important thing for Virgin Media was to get the HD channels.. which rightly so, they were proud of getting and wanted to share with all it's customers...

Later, when it came to implimenting the distrubution of the channels a further decision was made not to WASTE MONEY on upgrading soon to be defunct headends.

This was then communicated via VM's My Virgin Media website that it was going to be rolled out in stages and completed by early June.

It does start to put off some of the VM staff on this forum from posting and helping out, when colleagues are being ripped to bits for making a mistake or not knowing as much as others.

Some staff deal with billing and accounts and are not always up to date with things like NGTV rollouts.

I feel this ongoing discussion about existing HD channels and NGTV not being implemented yet in certain areas is driven by issues such as are we going to miss any of the ITVHD world cup matches in HD :erm: (understandable)

Otherwise people should just relax in the worst case these HD channels will only be a maximum 2 months away ;)

Indeed and that is why VM did waste some money on upgrades for ITV HD, so that nobody in England and Wales would miss the World Cup.

I agree with most of what you say DF. However, the fact of the matter is that for a communications company VM's communication to it's customers (and it would appear it's staff) is not as good as it could be. The page that you refer to on the VM website, would any of us really have seen it if it wasn't for Ben posting the link on here? I also appreciate that billing staff wouldn't know about NGTV, but it is seriously concerning that DTV support on the communinty forum don't understand it for me. The fact of the matter is I dread having to phone VM nowadays as I know that I will come off the phone frustrated for the rest of the day, and believe me I am generally a very calm person! I try to use the email forms on the website when I can to avoid these calls, but in my experience nobody seems to answer these now.

As always I thank the likes of yourself, Ben and Spiderplant for keeping us up to date in an unofficial capacity. Without you guys we wouldn't have a clue what was going on :)

I have itvHD and not been upgraded yet so the footy thing is ok as far as i'm aware, i agree completely with your post and think it needs to be put into perspective, it's only a few HD channels we have missing until it's upgraded and we have the SD versions of them until then.

Totally understand what you are saying and we we apreciate that some of you know more than others,Its clear that its the management that are at fault and they are as bad communicating with there staff as they are customers,If the information isn`t passed on to yourselves how are you supposed to relay back to us.This as been my biggest complaint with VM lack of communication and really should have been addressed and dealt with by now,Reagarding the HD Channels as stated in previous post is not the wait that is annoying me and i think most. But the complete lack of information and if it wasn`t for yourself and other members of VM staff sharing what you can on forums we would know nothing,I personally thank you for that and your collegues and hope you will continue to do so.
What i can`t understand is why some of the programs on the new HD Channels where not put onto VOD for a least us waiting could see them,I personally would have been happy and at least shown VM where sorry about the situation but were seen to be doing something to satisfy people that are waiting for the upgrade.

I'm not sure it can be considered a waste of money at all and they didn't do it just to ensure people didn't miss the world cup in HD. The world cup in HD is a big selling point and understandably VM didn't want to take the risk of losing out to Sky in the run up especially as HD on VM is becoming more and more a selling point. Quite simply it would have made a mockery of their HD credentials.

It's a business decision fair and square to ensure that existing customers don't consider leaving to go to Sky and new customers consider VM if they are interested in the World Cup in HD.

I was talking from a technical point of view, not from a business view... money has been spent upgrading some soon to be defunct headends, if it wasn't for the World Cup, I don't think they would have done that.

However, VM axed the Scuzz, Flaunt etc. channels in favour of their Music on Demand service so bringing more music channels on the scene is a bit unlikely

I wouldn't be suprised if they're holding back a few announcements until the NGTV roll out is out of the way, so they can avoid the issues they've had this time around.

That shouldn't stop them making annoucements for July, Aug and Sept which is when Film4 HD is likely due and NGTV complete.

I'd like to see -

Five HD
Hallmark HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
History HD

That then gives them all the major UK non-Sky doc & entertainment HD channels.

MSK is Setanta Sports under the new name.

I think MSK is only broadcasting on Sky until Setanta can sell they EPG Channels to an other broadcaster.

More 4 + 1, TCM2, YeSTERDAY +1 or Eden +1.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

TCM2 is the only real channel there, but at least the lineup is getting bigger

Just a polite enquiry to those who seem to know what is happening, Why can't I see SciFi HD in my EPG...I was under the impression that was launching today along with the awful rebrand to Syfy (uuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrgh)

Cheers for that MediaBoy - So perhaps not for a month or so then. Was looking forward to V in HD. My only reason to watch Sci Fi channel

I thought that VM was trying to move away from adding more SD channels and would be concentrating on more HD and VOD. However getting more channels is never a bad thing, just need the CSC channels now, and some more news channels and I can sell my freesat!!, oh and not to forget CBS drama etc.

I See Food Network HD is coming to Freesat and Sky. The fact it's launching on Freesat must mean we've got a fair chance of seeing this one?

it says the food network SD came to sky and freesat back in february, not in HD yet. Its being launched to the european market first, and then I suppose it will eventually come to Sky hd.

The Food Network is run in GB and Europe by Chello Media (50% owners of Horror Channel) so Virgin may go after this channel when they deal with CBS/Chello Media is up.

Yep, 10pm. X-Men 2 titles rolled with V promo on split screen, then went into Sy Fy promo (very pretty, think it had characters from some of the shows they broadcast? Didn't recognise too many people), then straight into V. In HD. Yum.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

Sky sports 1 for £15 on the M package?

I just spoke to CS for just one channel and they quoted me £15!!

I said are you sure because i am on the M package and it should cost me £24 as stated on your website... CS told me yes the price on my system says £15 for you!!

Has the ofcom ruling already come into place? have the prices for premium channels changed without formal announcement? or is the CS person just telling lies??

This is what the vm website now says on the sports section:

"You may have heard about Ofcom's ruling on how Sky should distribute and sell its premium sports TV channels, Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2.

The great news is that Sky now has to offer us these channels at a much better price than they've done until now. That means we'll be able to offer you even more compelling and great value TV packages.

We'll let you know about our new sports line-up as soon as Ofcom announce the timetable for implementing their decision"

can someone working for VM confirm the price changes? or no changes?

Does this mean that we all could see our sports pack go down in price?

I am on the VIP pack paying £96.50 month so could this go down then they sort out everything?

Hi everyone, rather than go into the sport section which appears to be seldomley visited I'd though I would ask this one-off question here;

Does anyone know if the BBC plan to transmit the World Snooker Tournament in HD this year? . . I know Eurosport are, but I do prefer the commentry on the BBC.

VMT
piquet 41.

P.S. i know this is off topic, but, it is a one-off :)

We've been NGTV here in Aylesbury for several weeks now but the consolidation of ex-Telewest and ex-NTL services is not yet complete. We're still waiting for the following:-

917. Radio: RTE Radio
920. Radio: WRN Europe

Are these 'coming soon' or will they be dropped from ex-Telewest instead?

That was already discussed a page or two ago.

My wife loves cooking shows and channels, and sometimes I secretly watch huddled away in the corner on my PC, would be nice to see all that amazing looking food in HD. Now if only they could do something with technology that allowed you to be able to taste it as well.
