Until we can get an official answer out of either ESPN or Virgin this is just going to go around and around.

That's also how i read it, the website yesterday only had the top two EPL and SPL boxes on it.

I would imagine that the website is driven by a database of sorts and so may not be 100% clear when updating information on the server side.

The extra football boxes were added some point this afternoon, after the Virgin deal was announced by Virgin (ESPN America announced this deal a few days ago) and have included the Virgin information.

Never know a forum to get their knickers in so much of twist.

Stuff tv thinks we are getting premier football in HD. I dont know if that counts for anything though.

Edit: and from broadcast now:- Virgin Media is to carry ESPN’s standard and HD channels in time for the upcoming Premier League season. ESPN and ESPN HD, which will screen 46 Premier League matches in the 2009-10 season, will be made available at no extra cost to XL customers, along with ESPN Classic

Well Mobes you certainly set the cat among the pigeons with that eagle eyed post:)
As I see it everything on VM's sites indicates we'll have the EPL and SPL in HD, so I'm pretty confident, I honestly can't see VM taking on a HD sports channel that doesn't let its own viewers watch the best content of the channel in HD.
If that were the case I'm sure to avoid flak they would've just signed the SD version, having said that I'll be mighty pleased when either Ben or Media Boy allay our fears tomorrow with a good news post.

Somebody asked if ESPN will be showing any Spanish La Liga games. The answer is no, unfortunately Sky hold the rights to La Liga.

And regarding Championship games on ESPN, again, no, they are primarily held by Sky, with the BBC holding 10 games a season, which will be shown on BBC HD.

The only major football ESPN can still get hold of is the FA Cup.

More news to come from Virgin Media - This week.

- News on what's happening with the remaining channels left from the old Setanta offer - like Racing UK and Arsenal TV.

- And, look out later in the week for more news on TV - including how Sky is changing their premium channel prices (For Sky Movies and Sky Sports) and how it will affect us.

AWESOME news about HD though, and a decent selection I'd say.

Setanta showed the NBA finals this year so maybe ESPN will do the NBA in 2010. It would fit in very well alongside MLB and NHL.

Excellent news about ESPN being in XL and also that ESPN Classic is finally going to appear on VM. It's been the biggest missing channel in the VM line-up. Am I right in assuming that ESPN Classic will launch on Monday when ESPN launches?

ESPN America being remove is due to Sky who do not give new channels numbers out any more - On Sky all the broadcasters need to buy an EPG Channel from the other broadcaster.

And with the Football due to start in August ESPN need to start an ESPN UK Channel up using ESPNA Sky's EPG Channel number.

ESPN America will reappear on Virgin TV in the few months time when ESPN has took over an EPG Channel on Sky.

FX HD doesn't start broadcasting each day until 7pm incase you are wondering why it's not working.

I slept through the big event or at least forgot to check the status when I got up just before 07:00 but they are there even though I can't use them.

Saw your posting regarding more to come in August, September and by the end of the year. Looking good for getting C4 HD, History HD, EuroSport HD and Living HD as well as mouth-watering images of Good Food HD.

Not wishing to start a speculation frenzy but there could be room for a couple more by year end. When the ITV HD exclusivity deal expires it will make for a reasonable starter set of HD channels. Then the network-wide elimination of analogue and eventual rollout of IPTV should make for an interesting 2010.

I wonder when the news channels (e.g. BBC News, Sky News, CNN) might go HD. I'm not suggesting that it will be soon. More likely after analogue switchover in 2012. Just a thought.

But we must be patient and show restraint!

Thats what I was going to say - but the HD channels shouldn't even appear in the EPG on a V box. BBC HD certainly doesn't

Yes they do. And BBC HD has always shown in the EPG on V boxes, albeit greyed out.

Just saw this on Digital Spy:-

I've just had an email back to one i sent virgin.

It says they are working with ESPN to get the website changed.

An error was made when adding the sports for the european league and mls they had recently bought to their webpage and they forgot to update the EPL and SPL to include V+HD on it.

More to come - I have been told that Virgin are in talks with Broadcasters about adding up to 15 more HD channels. Some maybe set to be Virgin only.

What i would like to see happen now that hd is coming thick and fast is on the guide instead off pressing 9 more then 5 hd channels have it 1,all channels 2,hd channels,3 kids ect would make it so much easier.

And with the Football due to start in August ESPN need to start an ESPN UK Channel up using ESPNA Sky's EPG Channel number.

ESPN America will reappear on Virgin TV in the few months time when ESPN has took over an EPG Channel on Sky.

So Sky's STB capacity problems are impacting VM's ability to carry channels! That is so wrong! :td:

Why is this? Surely what fits into Sky's EPG should have no bearing on what VM have in theirs.

:erm: What glaringly obvious point have I missed?

On the V+ we have here you press 'Home' and then 1 for 'TV Guide' and then 7 for 'HD Channels'
