Hi, wonder if someone can help. Just ordered the 500GB TiVo for installation next Monday (great :tu:). The person I spoke to in Manila (who I had a bit of difficulty understanding) took my mobile phone number and said a technician would call.

I'm assuming she meant that the Virgin installer would call me on the installation day, to tell me they're coming. I'd just like this confirmed though, as I don't carry my mobile around with me, and might miss this call if I don't have it on me.

Thanks.

When I had mine installed I asked them to phone 20 minutes before he arrived so I could get home from work. This he did and I arrived home about 2 minutes before he arrived. A great service from a pleasant and knowledgable installer.

If you're home anyway it shouldn't be a problem, but the phone call helps if you're not there!

Anyone care to share some of there tv settings with the tivo. Especially those with samsung tv's cause thats what i have , the c650 to be precise or others. :D:D

Im especially interested if you changed any tv settings , different from what they were with your previous V+ box.

Hi- yes I got a call from the guy to say he was on the way and would be with me in 5 mins.

Hope you enjoy your new toy!

Thanks to both of you for the information :tu: Good, I'll just keep my mobile with me on the day of installation then.

And, yes, I'm very much looking forward to my new toy :)

Yeah - it is because it is linked in with other options you can set like padding and how long it should keep the recording. it could definately be streamlined but is only really a minor inconvenience.

Aren't you sort of missing the point of it being a mobile phone?

I have a 40" Samsung (A656) and haven't had to change any settings on my TV. To my eyes the HD picture is better than on the V+ and the SD picture is very very similar, just maybe a touch softer, but not enough difference to make me want to change any settings (or need to).

It sounds long winded when written down, but it practice it doesn't take very long.

When i first got Tivo, i set up around 25 series links all in one go. Even going in and modifying the options, it was way quicker than setting up the same number of series links on V+.

It would be nice if the options menu either rememberd last used settings or had user definable defaults, but in reality, it takes no longer than a few seconds to modify the options and it is nice to have the flexibility.

Just sounded long winded and tedious compared to most PVRs were you highlight your program press R and then choose record once or record series.
