Star Trek - 10/10

Honestly the best Trek movie ever! Everything was fantastic. Karl Urban IS Bones in this, and Simon Pegg as Scotty, what a great pick. Plan on going again this weekend it was that good!

Trek is back! well done J.J!!! :)

Now am off to sleep as I need to get up at 7

Terminator Salvation - 4/10

Despite Christian Bale playing has John Connor, and the film being action packed with the robots immediately causing deaths and scaring innocent souls ;).

I found the film pretty poorly organised, and didn't really feel the story line was exciting and worth watching.

Some nice homages, and some excellent twists.

His accent was mostly there. It did keep disappearing though.

He got the phrasing right, just, as you say, the accent wandered a bit.

Still a great film, though.

Star Trek - 9/10 Very good, almost perfect. Was very impressed with the casting. I thought I wouldn't be able to get past Zachary Quinto playing Spock, thought he would be forever Sylar in my mind but I got past that within minutes. The guy who played Kirk was also spot on, I didn't think he would be but his manerisms where perfect. This film actually gave me the urge to re watch some classic TNG episodes (TOS is too cheesy for me I'm afraid), something I haven't done in a long time. I'm also going to re watch the original movies next week, I think It's been even longer since I have done that :D

Got Star Trek fever :)

Star Trek 10/10 brilliant and I have to see it again plus it is not a sequel or eeven really a prequel plus the casting is virtually spot on.

Awesome movie, worth the numb bum we got.
I used to like Star Trek but to be honest you can only watch them so many times before you're bored, but after this movie it opens the doors to a whole new Star Trek, more episodes and movies. Looking forward to the next one.

re: Rate the last movie you saw

Star Trek

Warp Factor 9.5/10

I bloody loved it. The cast were pretty much spot on (although Pegg's accent slipped at times), the effects were brilliant, & in general it rocked.

Plus plenty of nice touches that would bring a smile to anyone familiar with classic Star Trek.

A fresh take on Star Trek, a clean start, but still with reference to & respect for the original continuity.

The *only* thing which spoiled it for me was the stupid little kids talking & making noises throughout the screening, which is not the fault of the movie. Next time I go to a Vue, I'm paying the extra £1 for the over 18s screening.

It's effectively a reboot (like Bats, Bond, BSG), but one where the original continuity is still referenced.

But, yes, brilliant :D

I've just seen it and it was ok. I'd say more like a 7 / 10 though.

Angels and Demons 5/10 - What went wrong? In my opinion the book of A&D was much better than Davinci Code. The movie unfortunately is not. I think that is probably because they barely followed the book at all and took far too many liberties with the story.

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - 7/10

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

9/10

Brilliant. Plummer & Warner are particularly excellent, as to be expected.

Next up will be First Contact at the weekend.

[The only "odd numbered" TOS-crew Trek movie I ever watch whenever I work my way through them is The Search for Spock, as it's not that bad & is needed to bridge II and IV. Motion Picture? No thanks. Final Frontier? UGH! And of the TNG-crew movies... I have no intention of ever watching Generations, Insurrection, or Nemesis ever again.]

Angels and Demons - 8/10.

Man did they rip the book to shreds! I guess in some ways they had to but they left out the first 100 or so pages and when 1 person went up in the helicopter instead of 2 I thought the were going to change the ending and finish the story there. Great twists and impressive scenery, not too happy they missed out the whole "science can co-exist with faith" part from the book but I definately enjoyed it.

What I didn't like was the usual underlying pop at Christianity. Had they stuck to the book then it would have explained Dan Brown's original idea and removed a lot of the silly chliches from the film.

Finally they've beaten the curse of the odd numbers!

In fairness, as someone pointed out on the Star Trek films blu ray box set, the talk of the odd number curse came about when Nicholas Meyer and Harve Bennet were working on the Even numbered ones. They wrote and/or directed/produced "The Wrath Of Kahn", "The Voyage Home" (which wasn't apparently liked by a lot of trekkies, but loved by mainstream audiences) and "The Undiscovered Country".

The missus and I saw Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell this afternoon, both enjoyed it, It's pretty good 7/10.

it's very obviously a Sam Raimi horror film, so if you like Evil Dead you'll like this, it's kind of Exorcist meets Evils Dead Happy

Some nice ott gruesome bits, which then make you laugh due to other people's reactions etc.

The other thing I liked which was noticeable is that it's good to see a "horror" film with a proper orchestral score, very much like classic horror films, rather than just using some industrial/alternative/heavy metal.

So many plot holes, so much bad acting.
So much potential, wasted.
Seriously, it could have been a 10/10 film, but the details of the story and poor acting (someone please give Bale some lessons) let it down.
Great effects though, the Arnie scenes were well done.

Your score may well differ from mine.....although i`m sure it wont be too far off. It`s a ripping good yarn for sure.Probably better watched over a couple of days rather than the whole 5 hours or so in one sitting though.
5 hours is a bit much for any movie in one go.Plus, the anticipation of the whupping to come adds to the enjoyment, and mabey even the score;)

Even by today's, for the most part the Stan Winston models and effects look really good.
We really enjoyed it, stands up to the test of time.

What's funny is, is that some ppl getting annoyed with 3 and Salvation saying they're dumb action movies. I think some ppl need to remove their rose tinted glasses, as for the most part The Terminator is a good dumb action film with shootouts and car chases, nothing more nothing less :)

Christian Bale is in that too. I really like truth based stories and Dillinger was a proper gangster. I love Thomsons with the round drum too lol . Think the best thriller of the year could be The Taking of Pelham 123 with Densil Washington and John Travolta :)

I saw Drag Me to Hell yesterday. Grat film, had the entire audience jumping and making "urrrrrrrrrrrrghhh" noises at some of the scenes. Some really good shocks/jump out of your seats moments, as well as some really squeamish scenes. It reminded me a lot of Evil Dead 2, with some funny moments too. A very close to 9 out of 10 for me.

Ah the Chicago Typewriter :)
Did you know that the M42A pulse rifles in Aliens were Thompsons?

Talking of which:
Aliens - 10/10 So much suspense, action and story development.

We watched Terminator 3 last night 7/10. i think that's the first time I've seen it since saw it at the cinema, I didn't think it was quite as good as I remembered, but thought it was silly action packed fun none the less, apart from last 10 mins or so where it gets serious and depressing!

Not sure when we'll get round to seeing new one.

Drag Me To Hell - 8/10 - very good, back to his Three Stooges days. Entire audience where jumping and giggling. Guts me that they don't make me jump anymore, but then I aint 15 anymore.

The Orphanage - 8/10 Great Spanish Horror Movie. I have not been so terrified of a movie in ages, creepy kids running around. Although by the end I was in tears.

Great rollercoaster of emotion!

If you mean the pilot, she was also in the TV series Day Break (which I really enjoyed) - like Groundhog, but with lots of violence.

Moon Bloodgood. I remember her from the short lived TV series "Journeyman".

Moon Bloodgood?? That sounds like the result of one of those "take-your-pet's-name-and-your-mother's-maiden-name-to-create-your-pornstar-name" things :D

Transformers 2 - 9/10 - Absolutely brilliant, more of the same from the first movie but bigger and better. I went to see this at the midnight showing last night and the 3pm showing today.

Am thinking of going to see this tonight, would it be a bad idea? Because I haven't seen the first movie yet.

Terminator Salvation 8/10 missus and I enjoyed it as a no brainer action movie. When/if the 5th movie comes out, and I see this one again on the small screen, it's possible it will drop a point, like T3 did ;)

Komodo vs Cobra - 3/10

OK, I knew it wasn't gonna be great just by the title, but I couldn't be bothered to change the channel :D

Sci-fi channel is nearly catching up with Zone Horror for showing really bad films.

When will I learn my lesson :D maybe the next film will be good LOL
