Star Trek - 10/10
Honestly the best Trek movie ever! Everything was fantastic. Karl Urban IS Bones in this, and Simon Pegg as Scotty, what a great pick. Plan on going again this weekend it was that good! Trek is back! well done J.J!!! :) Now am off to sleep as I need to get up at 7  |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Terminator Salvation - 4/10
Despite Christian Bale playing has John Connor, and the film being action packed with the robots immediately causing deaths and scaring innocent souls ;). I found the film pretty poorly organised, and didn't really feel the story line was exciting and worth watching. |

I wondered why the characters seemed different, when I was checking the Imdb later. |

Star Trek - 9.5/10 (the missing .5 was Simon Pegg's accent).
I cried, I laughed, I whooped - go see it. Some nice homages, and some excellent twists. |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Star Trek - 9/10 Very good, almost perfect. Was very impressed with the casting. I thought I wouldn't be able to get past Zachary Quinto playing Spock, thought he would be forever Sylar in my mind but I got past that within minutes. The guy who played Kirk was also spot on, I didn't think he would be but his manerisms where perfect. This film actually gave me the urge to re watch some classic TNG episodes (TOS is too cheesy for me I'm afraid), something I haven't done in a long time. I'm also going to re watch the original movies next week, I think It's been even longer since I have done that :D
Got Star Trek fever :) |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Star Trek 10/10 brilliant and I have to see it again plus it is not a sequel or eeven really a prequel plus the casting is virtually spot on.
Go see it and be amazed. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Star Trek 10/10
Awesome movie, worth the numb bum we got. I used to like Star Trek but to be honest you can only watch them so many times before you're bored, but after this movie it opens the doors to a whole new Star Trek, more episodes and movies. Looking forward to the next one. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Star Trek
Warp Factor 9.5/10 I bloody loved it. The cast were pretty much spot on (although Pegg's accent slipped at times), the effects were brilliant, & in general it rocked. Plus plenty of nice touches that would bring a smile to anyone familiar with classic Star Trek. A fresh take on Star Trek, a clean start, but still with reference to & respect for the original continuity. The *only* thing which spoiled it for me was the stupid little kids talking & making noises throughout the screening, which is not the fault of the movie. Next time I go to a Vue, I'm paying the extra £1 for the over 18s screening. Quote:
It's effectively a reboot (like Bats, Bond, BSG), but one where the original continuity is still referenced. But, yes, brilliant :D |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I've just seen it and it was ok. I'd say more like a 7 / 10 though.
I am going to see it again in a bigger screen on wednesday so that may help. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Valkyrie - 8/10 Manages to somehow keep the suspense even though you know the outcome from the start. Tom Cruise is well.. Tom Cruise but he carries off the part quite well.
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Death Race - 7/10; good fun Saturday night with a bottle of Shiraz movie.
I like to think of it as The Shawshank Redemption with heavily armoured and weaponed cars :D |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The new Star Trek Movie - 2/10 (and the 2 points were for releasing a movie with Star Trek in the title)
It's Star Wreck, or Dawson's Trek, but it's not a trek film. |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Angels and Demons 5/10 - What went wrong? In my opinion the book of A&D was much better than Davinci Code. The movie unfortunately is not. I think that is probably because they barely followed the book at all and took far too many liberties with the story.

Star Trek, it had a 9/10 rating for me. The only thing that let it down was Simon Pegg as Scotty i thought it was horrendous.

Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 - Hmm... 6/10 each perhaps. Although I enjoyed 2 & 3 more 'cos of Alice kicking ass.
Hellboy 2 - 8.5/10 Star Trek II: The Wrath of KHAAAAAAAN! - 9/10 Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - 7/10 Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - 8/10 Ricardo Montalban's Khan is still the undisputed Best Trek Villain IMO. |

I have since watched... Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 9/10 Brilliant. Plummer & Warner are particularly excellent, as to be expected. Next up will be First Contact at the weekend. [The only "odd numbered" TOS-crew Trek movie I ever watch whenever I work my way through them is The Search for Spock, as it's not that bad & is needed to bridge II and IV. Motion Picture? No thanks. Final Frontier? UGH! And of the TNG-crew movies... I have no intention of ever watching Generations, Insurrection, or Nemesis ever again.] |

Angels and Demons - 8/10.
Man did they rip the book to shreds! I guess in some ways they had to but they left out the first 100 or so pages and when 1 person went up in the helicopter instead of 2 I thought the were going to change the ending and finish the story there. Great twists and impressive scenery, not too happy they missed out the whole "science can co-exist with faith" part from the book but I definately enjoyed it. |

What I didn't like was the usual underlying pop at Christianity. Had they stuck to the book then it would have explained Dan Brown's original idea and removed a lot of the silly chliches from the film.

re: Rate the last movie you saw
The missus and I saw Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell this afternoon, both enjoyed it, It's pretty good 7/10.
it's very obviously a Sam Raimi horror film, so if you like Evil Dead you'll like this, it's kind of Exorcist meets Evils Dead Happy Some nice ott gruesome bits, which then make you laugh due to other people's reactions etc. The other thing I liked which was noticeable is that it's good to see a "horror" film with a proper orchestral score, very much like classic horror films, rather than just using some industrial/alternative/heavy metal. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I definitely want to see that - I love Raimi's horror movies.
My latest movie was one I unintentionally watched: First Daughter Mrs D had this on earlier, in the afternoon. Predictable run-of-the-mill crap, starring Katie Holmes as the President's daughter, and "Riley from Buffy" as the undercover Secret Service agent she falls in love with. Meh / 10 |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Terminator Salvation - 6/10
So many plot holes, so much bad acting. So much potential, wasted. Seriously, it could have been a 10/10 film, but the details of the story and poor acting (someone please give Bale some lessons) let it down. Great effects though, the Arnie scenes were well done. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Night at the Museum (1st one) recorded at the weekend from ch4, hadn't seen it before, missus and I both enjoyed it, funnier than we thought it would be 7/10.
If Ricky Gervais had been in it much more would have been 2/10! We love the Office and Extras, but wish Hollywood didn't have this obsession with crowbarring "the quirky wacky English funny guy" into films :( |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Terminator Salvation - (7/10). Fantastic action amazing effects, all let down a bit by the poor story. However, since the Terminator series has always been a leave your brain at home deal thats pretty much what I expected so I came away pleased.
Night at the museum II - (-10/10). I really liked the first one but this was just pathetic. A sequel for the sake of being a sequel, another example of disney milking a cash cow and ruining it just like with the pirates of the Caribbean series. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
NATM2 was made by 20th Century Fox, not Disney.
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Terminator Salvation 8/10 - Apart from a few plot holes its a great movie.
Night at the Museum 2 7/10 found it pretty funny and enjoyable. Good for a giggle. |

The Terminator 9/10
(The missus and I like to watch prequals to a new film before we see it at the cinema, so we'll be watching 2 and 3 before the new one) Even by today's, for the most part the Stan Winston models and effects look really good. We really enjoyed it, stands up to the test of time. What's funny is, is that some ppl getting annoyed with 3 and Salvation saying they're dumb action movies. I think some ppl need to remove their rose tinted glasses, as for the most part The Terminator is a good dumb action film with shootouts and car chases, nothing more nothing less :) |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
terminator salvation --- was alright i guess. Like stephen says above they played fast and loose with some of the mythology but other than that its a good film
Thought Sam Worthington was good but Anton Yelchin was excellent Really , really looking forward to "Public Enemies" with johny depp. Trailer looked awesome and michael mann knows what he's doing |

I saw Drag Me to Hell yesterday. Grat film, had the entire audience jumping and making "urrrrrrrrrrrrghhh" noises at some of the scenes. Some really good shocks/jump out of your seats moments, as well as some really squeamish scenes. It reminded me a lot of Evil Dead 2, with some funny moments too. A very close to 9 out of 10 for me.

We watched Terminator 3 last night 7/10. i think that's the first time I've seen it since saw it at the cinema, I didn't think it was quite as good as I remembered, but thought it was silly action packed fun none the less, apart from last 10 mins or so where it gets serious and depressing!
Not sure when we'll get round to seeing new one. |
