Sky Sports Football has four back-to-back games, including a spicy Edinburgh derby in Scotland and crucial games in the race for promotion in the Championship.

Hearts v Hibernian, Scottish Premier League, 12.30pm
Brentford v Swansea, Championship, 3pm
Leeds v Preston, Championship, 5.30pm
Reading v QPR, Championship, 7.45pm

BT Sport 1 is showing St Mirren v Celtic on Boxing day.

Celtic v Rangers is on Sky Football on the 29th and is not free to all VM customers.

Seriously, is that your answer?

And what does that data as at 8 December show? It's about neck and neck now, isn't it?

Viewing of conventional scheduled TV is in steep decline and by 2035 this method of viewing will no longer be possible because IPTV will have taken over and the powers that be will not consider it appropriate to put resources into a declining service.

Somehow that match was never going to be free to all VM customers IMO.

You quite clearly have not read the link. Unsurprising, as your ignorance of objective reality, can only be achieved by doing so.

A 2015 link at odds with the BARB. I'm unsurprised you could find one, just a shame there's no real way to quantify the validity of the data. Indeed, does the data even relate to the United Kingdom?

I've provided a link from a recognised industry body within this country. Not a random internet poll.

Sorry, I was posting in between a lot of other activities yesterday.

According to Ofcom in their Media Nations report (on the web as a pdf), broadcast still accounts for the majority of viewing, but the decline in viewing is accelerating. 56% of viewing was via live TV, although 13% watched recorded programmes in addition to that. So it would appear that time-shifted viewing is fast becoming the norm and watching live TV as it is broadcast is in major decline. The important thing to watch here is not the actual figures right now, but the trend.

The group most likely to do this are the 16 -24 year olds, who will be 26 - 34 in 10 years' time, and many of their viewing habits will be picked up by their parents. Add to this the forthcoming proliferation of SVOD and in particular, AVOD services anticipated in the short to medium term, and it is pretty clear to me that watching live TV will be taking a back seat.

The report also makes the point that 42% also view the watching of TV and film via VOD as the normal way of viewing nowadays.

Not sure if it'll be the same on VM, but red button and on demand aren't included as part of the free access on Sky:

Or will they grow old and lazy like their parents?

When I was in my twenties I used to record quite a bit of TV. These days... CBA :)

Indeed. Old Boy’s flaw is assuming the under 24s won’t adapt their viewing habits as they get older to be closer to (although not exactly the same as) current 34 year olds. They’re both sitting with the exact same technology at their fingertips, after all. I wouldn’t describe someone born in 1985 as likely to be a technophobe by any stretch.

However life happens, work, shifting behaviours, other priorities, more family viewing and less individual viewing.

:D The funny thing for me is I can be bothered to record because of Series Links, but can't be bothered most of the time with Catch-up that involves ad-breaks I can't skip and can't be bothered with streamers as I've not got the time and many shows come to broadcast eventually anyway. Plus I'm mean. :p: ;)

Yeah, people change as the years pass. They'll claim they don't but they do.

Not to drag this into political territory, it's simply to illustrate a point, but the graphs/stats about how voters voting changes, or seems to, as they get older is interesting.

And I know my younger self loved voice tech in TV/Film and now I shudder at the thought of it. I still love gadgets, but I've changed.

Thanks for that, I hadn't read the small print. I'm on Ultimate Oomph so I should still be able to watch the red button games, or watch one of the Amazon 3pm games.

Must admit my local team aren't included in the red button matches, plus they've taken a massive step backwards compared to last season, although the "football" isn't quite as defensive as it was under Mr Pullis. I might find a working link by other means, which should also provide a better picture as Sky red button is only SD with no instant replays etc.

Yes, today and tomorrow. Pretty much the only live stuff today is NBA basketball, so it's tomorrow there's more choice.
