Anybody else tried the evolve alpha , after really looking forward to this game and playing it for a good hour i will definitely not be buying it, boring , linear , loading times a joke (yes I know it's a beta but doubt this will be fixed in 3 months) , I'd even go as far as to say I think it's garbage !!!
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I've not bothered with it, but I've seen similar criticism on other forums.
I've been on Shadow of Mordor all weekend. |

Would any of our more knowledgable gaming gentry know if my friend in Canada bought an Xbox one over there, then eventually came back to the uk, whether it would work and still play his games.
I think I've read they are region free but not sure about downloaded content. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
He'd just need to buy a new power adapter for it. I know people have been importing them from the US due to price difference.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
No such thing with HD.
But... a North American Xbox One would be locked to Region 1 for DVDs and Region A for Blu-ray Discs. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Unless you get Blu Rays that aren't region locked.
Its region 1 for the USA ;) |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Have any of you guys noticed occasionally whilst playing Forza 5 that you can see the odd little stutter every ten or twenty seconds, I've noticed it more when I'm racing with behind the car view, I'm not sure if it's a fault with game or my console, the sound is unaffected.
Answers on a postcard |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Hard to say but it sounds like frame drops, but have you tried pulling the power on the Xbox and leaving it for say 5 minutes then trying it again.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Quote:
If that doesn't fix it try a hard reset by pulling out the power cord or holding the console ON button down for several seconds when turning it off. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Cheers guys not tried the hard reset as I didnt want to bugger anything up, do I do it when the console is powered up and running, then just simply pull the plug and wait?
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Quote:
The easiest way is to power down the xbox 1 and pull the power cord out for 10 seconds though. I would reset the TV settings in the X1 first as that is what surprisingly fixed my stuttering in Forza for me. |

Coolio, I will give it whirl this evening and report back gents

Reason is the stutter is still there, Ive also changed HMDI slots on the TV just to rule that out. |

---------- Post added at 16:58 ---------- Previous post was at 16:53 ---------- Just to clarify the uk television output uses 50hz but when playibg games the xbox will use 60hz. The hz setting in the xbox 1 tv settings is purely to stop the stuttering for a tv signal that needs 50hz as opposed the th e usa 60hz system. |

Wayne, do you have auto-updates enabled *as well as* Instant-On?
The 15GB Day One Content Update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was available from Thursday last week, meaning that anyone who pre-loaded the digital version should have had the update before the game unlocked on Tuesday this week. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Yup, when I downloaded it it said it was a 60GB download.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
The install times on the Xbox One are getting stupid now, over 2 hours to install Halo from the disc it's pathetic.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Will have to check Matt. Damien C, disconnect from live, install the game and reconnect the console to live. That should speed it up :)
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
For anyone waiting for an Assassins Creed Black Flag price drop you can currently get a digital code from CDkeys.com for only £12.34(including 5% off FB code).
Assassins Creed Unity is also £34.69. |

I downloaded call of duty Ghosts for the Xb1, I just can't get into Advanced Warfare, I think it's pants tbh, I got a download code for less than 20 quid, and it plays much better online imo, I'd be interested to know what's your favourite set up for both games.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Finally bought an Xbox One. :-)
Went to game at midnight for black friday and got the console with assassins creed black flag & unity. Forza 5 goty and some dlc and Lego Marvel for a brilliant £299. Cost me nothing as traded my ps3 & 360 and all games and accessories as well as the £90 I had on my reward card from selling my virtual shares. Total bargain. Only Lego is a physical disc. Other games are downloads. Set it up tomorrow. Am rather tired. Store was Union St in Glasgow and there were about 40 folk in front of me and an easy 50 behind. Took till 1.10 to serve me. Some were there to get pokemon or smash bros or other black friday offers. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I recommend checking the the deals going on right now on the Xbox Store. I just got Shadow of Mirror for £27.50. Here's all the deals:

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Cheers, the EA Access thing does look cool. Wonder if UFC will get added soon.
Installed system update and played about with the OS a bit and installed a couple of apps, Blu Ray and the media one. Got Forza D/L now and had a few races, it looks amazing. queued up AC:Unity and a few demos. I know the game files are huge but the speed seems so slow. Just installed Marvel Lego so going to give that a shot too. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
If you disconnect from the internet while you install discs it's supposed to install a lot quicker.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I just bought Titanfall season pass for £5 from the Xbox screen reduced from £20 on black Friday, you can currently get Titanfall deluxe which includes the season pass for only £10 though.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I gave in and used my £5 gift card and paid the other half to buy Titanfall :-)
I've D/L 76.6GB since 8am on my xbox lol, and still haven't got a complete game downloaded. Glad I have 60MB just now. |

So far I am very impressed with the console. Looks great and the GUI is a good refresh of what was on the 360. There are still a few things missing or hard to find compared to the 360. Graphics on the game's are out of this world. Titanfall was fun and Unity seems good. Not really played much of the games. Been just jumping between everything trying it all out. Got a few demos to try as well. |

I'll invite you and see if that works.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Now when I open it there is a message saying ill get info or something when a preview available. Thanks |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I bought it in November... along with Halo, Sunset Overdrive, COD AW, and Dragon Age: Inquisition :erm:
I really should wait before buying more games :dunce: Playing Dragon Age: Inquisition at the moment - it is *awesome* :) Finished Shadow of Mordor (great!) and COD AW (very good) before that. I'll probably play Sunset Overdrive after DA:I, then Halo, and then finally GTA V. Good job there's nothing I'm really interested in in 2015 until Batman in June... |
Re: The Xbox One Thread

It's longer than you'd expect for a shooter, but it's well paced, with a very good mix of action and stealth, and some nice "breathers" here and there. The story and characters are surprisingly good for a shooter, especially a Wolfenstein game. Definitely recommend it :) |

I bought one of these once the feature was added: Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB USB 3.0 Portable Drive - £74.97 at Amazon I went for that for a couple of reasons: 1) My wife has been using that & other WD models for some time for storing her photos, and swears by their reliability. 2) I found a review somewhere (can't remember where) that said it was a good choice for the Xbox One, giving good speed and storage benefits for a reasonable price. No issues with it at all. It just sits there at the back out of the way. And being a portable drive means that as well as being small and quiet it also doesn't need a separate power supply. ---------- Post added at 00:36 ---------- Previous post was at 00:35 ---------- Ha, I see Craig beat me to it! :) |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Tempted to save up for an xBox 1 next year, just a couple of points I want to clear up first.
1. Will my gamertag on the 360 work still on the 1 or do I need to do a new account? 2. Will all my apps that I have on the 360 work on the 1? 3. Have they fixed it yet so that you can play 360 games on the 1, or is is still the case that you cannot play 360 games on the 1? Thanks for replying. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Quote:
2.Which apps? THe One has its own set of apps for Netflix, iPlayer and lots of other things. 3.It cannot be fixed as the One has a totally different CPU and system so it will never be able to play 360 games unless they launch some form of emulator or straming service a bit like Onlive. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Excellent news about the account, apps I use are Netflix and iPlayer so as long as I can still get those I'd be happy. Shame about the 360 games, but that is not that much of a deal breaker if I ever save enough to buy a 1.
Thanks Stephen. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I only got mine a couple of weeks ago.
Ended up trading my 360 a d games in against it. |
