Not so much 'bought' as my employer supplied it for my job but on the day Apple announced its newest version my shiny new iPad Air arrived :D

I won't lie, I have never actually needed one (my laptop has always been adequate) but since it arrived I'm having difficulty working out how I managed without it :D

Obviously I have to give it back one day (hopefully when the company decides they all need to be upgraded??) but I just love it. It does have its limitations (it's only the 16gb version, doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, front camera is only 1.2mp etc) but considering it was 'free" I won't complain too much...

A full size spare wheel to replace the spacesaver that came with my car (mk1 focus). Only cost me a tenner, but it looks like it'll take some work to make it fit 100% (the spare wheel holder is designed for the original spare, which is half as wide as the new one)

Yer, the car comes with a puncture repair kit that fills the tyre with foam, a pain in the ass to remove i heard.

Last time i got a blow out i was luckily still able to drive it a few files and get the tyre replaced but if anything like that happens on the way to the airport on the M25 then i am in trouble!

That's the big problem with sealants. If the puncture is more than simply a nail in the centre of the tread they can't do much at all to help.

Case in point: While on holiday in Scotland I came across a couple of tourists who's suffered a puncture in a hired Focus after hitting a rock and damaging the wheel quite badly. Luckily the car had a spacesaver wheel supplied, but someone had made off with the wheelbrace, or the rental firm had removed it to force them to call if there was a puncture.

Of course, this wasn't much help when on a wet Scottish hillside with no mobile signal. Luckily my car's wheelbrace and jack fitted, and we got the wheel changed, but a can of foam would have been no use at all.

A pack of 50 cool white 5mm LEDs from Amazon for £1.79.

I need to repair a couple of my patio solar rocks that seem to have some failing LEDs ( gone dim ) and are flaking out early. Looks like they were static damaged during manufacture or just poor quality. :(

They have 4 LEDs mounted on a small printed circuit board fixed with some silicon rubber to the rear of the reflector so repair should be straight forward. I'll probably upgrade the solar cell at the same time seeing as I have a few and the originals are going misty.

I've opened it up and yes there's a dud LED, draws a lot of current but don't really light up. Another one had a dry joint. Found I had a white LED in the bitsa box so I've fitted it.

Got to get some fresh clear silicon sealer to put it all back together. Pix taken, I'll write it up when all done.

Excellent. If you're flying Iceland Air see how much it'll cost to go Saga Class if you aren't already booked on it.

We are flying Iceland Air but not Saga Class. It's a package they do - flights, hotel, excursions so there was no option to upgrade. However, economy on Iceland Air sounds so much better than Easyjet so not complaining.
