I think it's pretty hilarious.

The BBC, for example, have sort of gambled on this snow flurry as being some kind of cataclysmic event, and it just hasn't happened.

For the most part there's been a few inches knocking about, but seriously for it to be really newsworthy you'd expect a couple of feet.

I live, pretty much, in the Peak District, above the usual snow line, and we've had nothing you can t handle.

But there was a special weather bulletin on earlier which basically said, everything's alright.........thanks.

It started here at 9am and still snowing at 12:20, I parked at the top of my hill just in front of the double yellow lines.

Some idiot was revving the crap out of his engine trying to get to the top of our hill, then parked behind me on the double yellow lines now making it hard for me to get out.

Hopefully he gets a ticket, or has gone before I leave for work tomorrow.

Do you really expect traffic wardens to be working in these conditions? I'm sure there would be some sort of 'elf n safety warning about it.

And in any case, if the road markings are obscured by snow, can a ticket be issued as surely a driver would be able to say they didn't know where restrictions applied?

Caught sight of a week long weather forcast on 'countryfile' prog (last 10min), forcaster was hinting of a warm blast coming to the south west next weekend?
Could do with some cheery weather forcast, even if it's out.
(Anyone catch the 5.30pm prog on BBC2 Saturday- The Big Freeze 1963, made this weather look like a slight snowy week)

A lot of times, Wardens seem to err on the side of actually giving a ticket then let the driver who receives the ticket appeal it.

No snowfall here since about 6.00 PM yesterday. However, like you Ken, the council haven't seen fit to grit and thus no bin or recycling "Operators" have bothered to make an appearance. Still, no change there when the weather is inclement. Makes one wonder why Council Tax payments are so high :mad:.

What is it with numptys that think it is legal to just clear snow from the windscreen, and not bother with lights, roof & other windows.

Then there's Mr BMW who drives at 80+ on the outside lane of the motorway, thats not completely snow free.

Well, it has now snowed more or less non-stop for 36 hours, but for most of the time it has been very light and the temperature is slightly above freezing, so there's a slight melt happening at the same time. We've got about 3 inches on the ground. Only half a mile from here there's almost nothing to speak of, but we're higher up the hillside than most of our neighbours and only on the very edge of the snow showers affecting central Scotland today. It's supposed to get 'worse' tonight, apparently, so we shall see what the dawn brings.

The school bus was replaced with a Land Rover this morning, which didn't quite make up for the loss of a potential day off. :D

Only problem is the original mini's had quite a low ground clearance. Not good for driving along a road where the other vehicle's tyres had caused a ridge of packed ice between the wheeltracks.

That's how it's been in Newcastle ,we should have about 3ft of snow on the ground not 3inch given the amount that fell but it has been thawing as it falls ,but the temp has dropped now so it is starting to build up ,up at Consett they have 3-4ft on the ground

We had heavy hail thunderstorms this morning which layed on ice early this morning and on the A38 there were five 2 car crashes this morning thus sending large parts of the city into utter gridlock for most of the day.

So ... Not only has our local school remained open this week, but this lunchtime the staff were shovelling snow back onto the field so that the children who had brought sledges with them could make a decent run. Health and safety and a sensible approach to real life, all nicely balanced.

Yup - a couple of inches of snow in North Leeds.

The Heathrow - Leeds flight I was on had to circle for 25 minutes above Leeds Airport while they cleared the runways, as it had been closed for a bit; touch and go if we were going to be diverted to Manc.
