Regardless of his Man Utd form, Rooney is at least the national side's all time top scorer and Bell is never going to be anywhere near that. ;)

Bell is a good player who should have been dropped a while back to give him a chance to recover his form and confidence. Having said that he's probably had his best years for England so maybe it's time to move on.

MalteseFalcon 26-10-2015 21:21

Looking at this test series, was it a case of England improved a lot to beat Australia or a case of Australia not being the powerhouse they once were?

denphone 27-10-2015 05:01

Re: Cricket

Home advantage is increasingly a even bigger factor in test cricket then it used to be and that certainly helped England as they could prepare pitches that suited them but alas when teams go away from home then they have to expect the same treatment with regards to the pitches being prepared for the home side.

SA are on a bit of a downer ATM and the 'unwritten' quota system of fielding at least 4 non whites means that players like Duminy who has been hopelessly out of form and even the captain Amla are getting picked because there are very few 'coloured' players who are good enough or fit right now.

Don't think England have a chance in the upcoming world T20. Very poor against SA. The captain is a liability. Best Owain could do is go back to Ireland and help them prepare for Test cricket, which it looks like they might have a chance to do under the proposed new 2 league Test structure. Hope they allow him to do that if the chance arises, I'm sure that's where his heart is.

Yes, part of the reason i don't care for 20/20 or one day cricket really. Once one side gets on top it's all over. With Test Matches there can be many twists and turns and second chances.

Ta for that - better to see 5 mins worth than nothing but a decent 1 hour show would've been great. :tu:

Still I suppose it's fitting that a cut down version of the game should have cut to highlights lol

Extended highlights on Sky 3 at 10.30. I'm going to watch it again .

Interesting to note that as much as England's bowlers got slated, they only conceded 4 extra's compared to SA's 26 and as 20 of those where wides it meant England had an extra 3.2 overs to score off.
