It just shows that not all footballers are arrogant self centred morons. Nice to see Madrid players wishing a Barcelona player well, as well as Muamba.

l think there is a awful long way to go yet thenry and the prognosis for the future is far from certain but a slight improvement is better then no improvement so lets hope this continues in the coming days.

My understanding is that in cases like these the patient is kept in a coma for about 24 hours, while the body is being cooled. This is to minimise brain damage as a result of lack of oxygen flowing to the brain during the cardiac arrest. After about 24 hours the patient is allowed to come out of the coma. The sooner he/she awakes, the better the changes of recovery. The real issue at this point isn't his heart. It's his brain.

According to a friend of Fabrice Muamba he has told The Associated Press that the footballer is speaking a little again and if this is true then this is most encouraging.

One of the saddest stories I've seen for a while. What should have been one of the happiest days of a players life turns into one of the worst.

The father of a Kilmarnock footballer has died of a suspected heart attack after watching his son's team beat Celtic in the League Cup final.

Midfielder Liam Kelly, 22, was seen running up the tunnel at Hampden after his father collapsed at the end of the club's 1-0 victory on Sunday.

Jack Kelly, 59, collapsed just before 17:00 near the Kilmarnock dugout. He died in hospital a short time later.

His son was told just before Kilmarnock lifted the trophy.

Glad to hear that Fabrice is slowly but surely improving.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle says he has held a "brief" conversation with Fabrice Muamba for the first time since the midfielder had a cardiac arrest.

The 23-year-old was left fighting for his life at the London Chest Hospital after collapsing during Wanderers' FA Cup tie against Tottenham on Saturday.

"There's still a long way to go but that's really positive," said Coyle.

"Where we all were on Saturday night, at this stage I would certainly never have envisaged this improvement."
