We think SKY,VM and BT will unite together with the threat of online providers such as netflix, amazon and the risk of twitter and Facebook throwing their hats into the ring too.
However i think VM are in the weakest position of the big 3 as they have no content to offer in return.
I've said it before and i know many disagree but i'll say it again VM should never of sold of their channels for a start Living was great when vm owned it but now it's a shadow of it's former self, plus by having channels VM would of had that extra bargaining chip too.

we have much less channels if they didn't sell them so they did right thing it only reason we got all the sky HD channels

Fortunately, things are changing now and incidentally, Sky and VM are on much better terms these days. Sky even seem to have patched things up with BT.

it a good thing that things are getting better now between the 3 companies should make things better for all customers

I'd have thought this deal helps BT when it comes to negotiations about the wholesale renewal between them and Virgin.

Do Sky not consider Virgin Media major Pay-TV platform anymore? Sky Atlantic is most definitely not available to VM customers through the Tivo and V6 boxes

Terrible day this for virgin media. A humiliation in fact. Yet the costs keep rising. With virgin media's current attitude i imagine cable network television will be dead within the decade

All VM are worried about is making more and more money. Squeezing the bottom line. Yet if they spent a bit of money they could compete and make more money....yet we're talking to very poorly educated yanks who've inherited money off their parents who now control everything.

Unless you want all companies to cut their profit margins and lose money which is how a company should not be run as they would go to the wall pretty quickly IMO.

The reason for this must be the unsustainable cost of the PL footy rights, and falling subscribers due to piracy (maybe).

The next PL auction rights is going to be interesting :)

VM may not have any content as in TV channels to offer, but I wonder if there's a deal in there to allow Sky to access/use Virgin's BB?

Virgin media are ran very very very very differently than BT or Sky good sir. You must see the difference? VM are a cash cow currently. They provide nothing new to the industry. They are just here to collect money. BT and SKY are stupidly spending millions on getting rights to football or daft shows therefore they increase prices

VM just increase prices and shrug their shoulders. There is literally no long term plan whatsoever for VM other than

"Giles!!! make money quick before we dump this stock!"

What difference is that Vince? as they are all in the same industry with many of the same bundled packages on offer.

Good point i believe VM did at one point have a deal in place where SKY used vms network for something, but now with Gfast rolling out would SKY really need vms network anymore?
Maybe the kicker in the long term with the deal between SKY and BT is that it opens the gates for SKY to use BTs gfast network, yes the lines are owned by openreach but BT are rolling out Gfast now.
Or maybe VM and SKY are in talks as we speak trying to get a deal sorted.
