Plus this has happened when watching 1 and recording 2. On V+ I could watch 1 and record 2 and I understand it has 2 tuners. Surely then TIVO should do the same? And when it has 3 tuners then I should be able to watch 1 and record 3. Is this right?

The 3rd tuner will be activated within two weeks. The V+ has THREE tuners so you can watch one and record two. When Tivo has three tuners you can watch one and record two like the V+ or you can record three so long as you don't want to watch anything live.

Hi
Thanks for that. However, the popup only gives me 2 options, keep watching the channel I'm on and cancel the recording or change channel to the planned recording. Do I have to choose one or can I just get rid of the popup? If I can, what button does this? Also, is there an option to stop this popup appearing?

Thanks for your help:)

Have you already got a recording in action on one of the tuners? You should see less of this once the 3rd tuner is active later this month.

once the 3rd tuner is activated later this month, you will be able to record 3 at the same time, whilst watching a recording or record 2 while watching a 3rd channel/vod

Not being able to set global padding is very annoying as I have to set it every time I record something.

When setting a series link it records all sorts of repeats (even different programmes) and I have to spend time maually deleting them.

Yes, I agree with both. You need to be able to set a preferred set of defaults, for series links. Having to change it very time is a PITA.

I think the global default should be:

10 epsiodes
only new
no start padding
5mins end padding.

Something like that... basically as it was with V+

Hopefully VM will build in user specified defaults in a later version.

Went to the Nottingham VM shop yesterday, saw the physical Tivo box for the first time but found out it wasn’t yet connected to the display TV which was still using a Samsung V+ box. Sounds like the number of VM trained staff is still so low that they cannot even set up their own shops yet!

Had a word with one of the shop staff but he only seemed to know the basics about Tivo as well. Will wait a few weeks and go back in, surely they want to promote their premier box in the shops?

On the issue of global padding above, definitely agree this should be on the high priority for fixes/"enhancements", really a default feature everybody would want, and not have to set after every recording schedule.

Also thought series recording would capture everything moving forward across multiple series as well (which is excellent) but if also capturing repeats, I thought Tivo would not record anything you had seen already in a series even if repeated, as long as it is in some form of previously recorded database list which must reside on the Tivo to do this?

The reason maybe that if they show it connected they will get to many people wanting to try and order one there and then and are waiting for the proposed launch date.

That's a shame... did they say why it wasn't set-up?

Thought about that but other people have posted saying that Tivo is up and running in other shops.

The one staff member I talked to didn't give a reason why it wasn't connected, so just a case of he simply didn't know. Guess they've had the delivery so put it on the display and now waiting Tivo trained engineer to get to shop to set up?

I would have expected an engineer to arrive with the box in order to fit it.
