The ability to find a film to watch with a specific actor is right up my street and the menus look great compared to the old V+ boxes. The extra recording space is still the biggest selling point. God I wish I had the money for the box and the install though.

Same here, payed all that money for two V+ boxes and now we need to pay more if we want TiVO.

Virgin Media will bring out the money problems I may have in future :D

OK - two 'simple questions' (and a bit of a rant - it's late and I'm tired) :)

1) Will Virgin let us know (those that entered the draw) that the draw has now been run, and all those successful have been informed.

2) Those of us that have not 'won' a free TIVO box for a year but can't afford TIVO, is the issue with the SAMSUNG box and incorrect reporting of available drive space going to be corrected any time soon - or is it "coming soon".

The reason point two is important to me is that like those before me, I have already paid Virgin, only a couple of years ago a premium install price for my V+ box, and although it is a good box - has a fundamental flaw. The TIVO box I would guess doesn't have this problem. If I had 'bought' this PVR (SAMSUNG) from the shop, I would have taken it back as faulty. As it is I would expect Virgin to rectify it, and if they can't, supply a box that operates correctly.

Can any of the Virgin staff shed any light on this please.

OK - End of rant...time to goto bed now....

Yes, both :)

Though I wouldn't call it a fundamental flaw. It is only a problem with the reporting, and you can easily make it show the correct free space by making a short recording then immediately deleting it.

As for your first point, not all winners have been contacted yet.

Hi all

New to the forum. I am one of the lucky 1,000 and had TIVO installed last week. Just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem. When I am watching normal TV and a 2nd recording starts, I get a popup that prompts me to either change channel to the recording or stay on my current channel and cancel the planned recording. I dont understand why this is happening as TIVO has 2 tuners and this was never a problem on my old V+.

Apologies if this has already been answered but I did search the site (and google) and have drawn a blank.

Thanks

Hi and :welcome: :waving:

The pop up is just warning you the other tuner (which will be buffering another channel) will change channel to the planned recording.

Hi
Thanks for that. However, the popup only gives me 2 options, keep watching the channel I'm on and cancel the recording or change channel to the planned recording. Do I have to choose one or can I just get rid of the popup? If I can, what button does this? Also, is there an option to stop this popup appearing?

Thanks for your help:)

Re: TiVo

My thoughts are that while the 1Tb hard drive is great as is the search facility there are a lot of negatives also.

On demand is a lot slower than V+ especially if you select A-Z when finding programmes.

If I have to reboot, it reboots itself twice before the picture comes back on.

The pin thing is awful. (I know it's due to be resolved in Sept)

Not being able to set global padding is very annoying as I have to set it every time I record something.

When setting a series link it records all sorts of repeats (even different programmes) and I have to spend time maually deleting them.

If it wasn't for the fact that I got it free for life and I don't have to pay the £10 per month any more for my second V+ box, I frankly wouldn't bother

Sounds like your 3rd tuner hasn't been activated.

Re: TiVo

Should the 3rd tuner have been activated?
Plus this has happened when watching 1 and recording 2. On V+ I could watch 1 and record 2 and I understand it has 2 tuners. Surely then TIVO should do the same? And when it has 3 tuners then I should be able to watch 1 and record 3. Is this right?
