How long to the Punished have to stay at 512k uncapped? I tried to do an online upgrade with my cable modem after being knocked back the other day and it said I have to call Cust services and that online upgrade was not available to me.

Anyone know what the score is with staying uncapped at 512k. Are we punished for life??

if u get put on 512 from 2-3meg can u end your contract with ntl and not pay the reminder of the 12 months?as a move to adsl is painless

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

well this letter sending business, from what i can tell is confined to customers who only have the ntl bb service and no other ntl services, the 2 people i know who download more than i did a month both have bb+phone and neither have got 1 letter yet. the whole thing seems very unstructured, if 1 person gets a letter then somebody else doing the same thing should get a letter regardless of how much they are impacting their ubr.

Well - I have been capped and have the phone also so that blasts that theory!

Yeah I had all 3 services, had 2 letters (one after I'd cancelled NTL BB & Phone services!)

ah, that's fair enough then. i would just like to know why some get them, some don't and even more why, after some people only get 1 letter and only reduce their allowance a small amount do they get a letter saying thanks for reducing your usage blah blah blah.....

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

well as with all things NTL, its very undesisive and this what cause's all the confusion on what they mean by fair usage policy over the 30gig cap,it even states that nothiong will happen if you go over by a small amount, and why exactly can 1 person download more and be ok and another cannot?, why can someone sharing the same street cab as myself not get a letter at all?, yet download more than me? (yes this is happening right now). Why was i allowed such as high usage allowance yet someone else not?,

why,why,why

You lot all sound like Kevin the teeneager, 'it's not fair'...

You go over the limit, you can expect your speed to be reduced. I really don't undertsand why you find that so unacceptable, or why you're more concerned about other users activities..... :dozey:

ntl are not obliged in anyway to send a warning letter, or indeed to keep you connected at all.

I'd rather a flaky policy then a hard line Hitler policy...say you cap me but don't - thats perfectly fine with me.

Don't know what you are complaining about. So you got busted and somebody else didn't, you going to try and 'grass them in'? SIGH....

lol, so if for example you got put down to 512k and your neighbour was fine downloading 250gigs a month then you wouldn't wonder why you was targeted and he wasn't, that and why some people are allowed to download considerably more than other area's. And no-one is being *Kevin  * as far as i can see, we just want to know why NTL are so indisisive.

A woman i spoke to in Customer Service said if you are paying your bill, the one thing they would not do is disconnect you.
She said speed can be reduced, and letters sent out, so was she mis-informed about being cut off?

No, she wasn't mis-informed. It's not ntls practice to cut people off for going over the 'cap'. BUT they can, and have every right to. My point is, if you go over the cap and get caught, stop ****ing and moaning about it. It could be worse...

I wasn't trying to help (what's the point, you all know the d/l limits, yet still choose to complain when you get caught... ), just pointing out some facts. :dunce:

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

I'm sure they still dont want people to jump to adsl [ie Blueyonder 10meg, no cap etc, at £35pm] so i'm sure they wont want to disconnect you.
Otherwise they are just letting you out of a contract to go elsewhere, if your still in one.
Better to keep you limping along like a three legged dog than let you escape eh. :)

going by the guide lines that if you inpact on other peoples use, then i will have a hard time getting my usage to make an impact no matter what i do. incidently i was informed by tech support that the line i was on was always 70% below max usage
