On Tuesday I got an 8 track :)

J Geils band - The Morning After (I also have the record)

I like getting cassettes and 8 tracks as I can easily listen in Mono (I have a connector that combines left and right channel)

I do have a MONO record player but the speed isnt constant all the time..... (Its a nice 50s unit but the speed control is horrible on it)

I also got BEHIND ENEMY LINES - 2001 on VHS :)

I cant believe IMDB only has it rated 6.4 ... Its excellent!!!

I would give it 9.6!!

Have also spent time.e cataloguing my Laserdisc, DVD, Blu Ray & 4K movies on an app to keep track of them all. Same with my record collection. Took quite a while but thankfully you can use the phone camera to scan barcodes.

Prodigy - Firestarter 12" single 30th anniversary record.
The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony 7" single.

Siingles on vinyl sure are pricey these days, £15 for just a couple of tracks, though the 12" has the song and 3 other dances mixes.

Hello dues...

Yesterday I got a record and an 8 track :)

1) 8 TRACK: The best of Eddy Arnold
2) RECORD: Moby Grapes first album (MONO)

This record says MONO and most I have seen say "MONO 360 Sound"

This one just says MONO and sounds absolutely incredible!!

I figured just MONO would sound better..


What is 360 sound???

Mono is a single channel sound. There is literally no way to have 360 sound on it. That would be more like modern surround sound or immersive spatial audio which is a modern thing.

Local company is installing new sound system , old deck has died , so biting the bullet . They know better than to talk details, it sails over my head ! Any way even though my albums are well looked after they are mostly old vinyl, favourites are mostly from the mid 60,s to mid 70,s one or two are in mono. Haven't found them I. Stereo, there again have tried that hard !

I am hoping to get a new turntable, pre-amp and either an amp and passive speakers or just some active speakers in the next few months. Currently sucking it up with one of those cheap suitcase players hooked to my existing speaker set up. Frankly as much as the speakers are decent the level or wow and flutter from that record player is so high when there is a tune with a lot of piano it is very noticeable as the sound of the note changes like the speed is fluctuating.

Yup I knew what Mono was. But why have 360 sound if its Mono?? (Unless they are trying to simulate surround sound by doing that)

It is literally impossible to simulate surround sound never mind stereo sound from a single track mono signal.

Ya so I dunno why they put "360 sound" on records... Especially Mono :confused:
