One of the men who murdered soldier Lee Rigby has launched an appeal against his whole-life prison term.
Michael Adebolajo was sentenced to die behind bars, while accomplice Michael Adebowale was jailed for life with a minimum term of 45 years.

Some hot shot human rights zealot barrister wants to have a go at forcing the European Court and the UK's High Court to fight it out over the whole-life issue, and who should have the last say, by the look of things.

And what will the argument be? It will be better for justice if he's given some hope so he doesn't kill himself and at least sees out part of his term.

Yes, if I had to guess I would say they're going to go over the whole issue of the right not to suffer degrading treatment, or whatever it was the EC ruled one way before our own courts then ruled the other.

Keep calm, it will be rejected.

No one in there right mind will change the sentence.

I still say the coppers should have killed them and that would have saved the tax payer from funding the money grabbing lawyers that will feed of this for years and years to come. Bet you the cost will run in to millions. The EU courts will love this.

There's room for one more a Gitmo, outside the remit of the EU if we can find a reason to send him on holiday there.

You don't need a "reason". Blair and Straw saw to that.

People have the right to appeal their sentence. You can get angry that he has taken this right in the face of public opinion but this is a guy who murdered an innocent man so to expect anything better would be akin to be surprised when an animal attacks another. It won't succeed....

Copycat "revenge"* attack.

BBC
Quote:

A man was attacked with a hammer and 12in machete in a racially-motivated revenge assault for the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby, a court has heard.

Zack Davies, 26, from Mold, Flintshire, followed Dr Sarandev Bhambra into Tesco in the town and carried out a "brutal and unprovoked attack".

Mold Crown Court heard the trainee dentist's hand was almost severed from his arm.
Mr Davies denies attempted murder but admits wounding with intent.....

....
Sion ap Mihangel, prosecuting, said Mr Davies identified Dr Bhambra because of his race and his "Asian appearance".

He told the court: "This attack was racially motivated... as the attack was taking place he was shouting words such as 'white power', 'this is revenge' and 'this is for Lee Rigby'."...

....The court heard items associated with white supremacy and Nazism were found at the defendant's home, including banners, swastika badges and Combat 18 stickers.

Mr Davies told police he was a member of a far-right organisation, but had acted alone at the supermarket.

Few things in life are quite as pointless as revenge for pretty much anything. Any satisfaction it may provide is usually both very shallow and very short-lived.
