Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Hamilton will start from pole position alongside Williams's Pastor Maldonado, with whom he has had a series of collisions in the last 18 months for the Singapore Grand Prix.

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Saw an article on Mail, where Webber says Grosjean should run for the hills if he causes another first lap crash. Not sure how much of a joke it was, but I wouldn't be very happy if he took me out of a race.

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Yet another failing with the McLaren car. Will only increase speculation about Hamilton's future.

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Been watching SSN for the last 15 mins and even thou there is no offical report it does all seem a done deal. They are saying Mclaren have confirmed Perez is Hamiltons replacement. Lets see if it works out for them both
---------- Post added at 09:28 ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 ---------- McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh on replacing Lewis Hamilton with Sergio Perez: "I'm delighted to welcome Sergio on board. His performances throughout 2012 have convinced us that he's an extremely exciting prospect for the future. "It was a string of giant-killing performances, a trio of podiums and a brilliant fastest lap in this year's Monaco Grand Prix that showed us that Sergio lacks nothing in terms of speed and commitment." McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh on Lewis Hamilton: "He wrote a huge chapter of his life and career with us, and was, and always will be, a fine member of an exclusive club: the McLaren world champions' club." |
Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Perez will love it and if he makes the transition to the Mclaren OK he'll deffo be one to watch next year.
I have a feeling though that Hamilton will be mid-pack this time next year and cursing the slowness of the Mercedes |
Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Lewis Hamilton on his switch from McLaren to Mercedes: "It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter racing for Mercedes.
"Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for winning which I share. "Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the world championships." |
Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Don't be so quick to bite at Hamilton because I'll bet now that he'll bite you right back. He's the best driver out there hence his ridiculous salary. Up to 20 million a year now? 5 million off Alonso and I've no idea why Alonso earns that much.
Can talk about the Mercedes not being fast enough but you can't forget that McLaren that's consistently failed him on numerous occasions now. It's not a shock to see him leave especially not off the back of yet another disaster for the McLaren. Rosberg has shown the car can make the podium with him in it so I'm sure Lewis can show that it's even better. Can't base a car on Rosberg's driving and certainly not on a well past it Schumacher. Take a look where Kimi is in a Lotus, down to not retiring race after race and getting consistent points finishes. If the Mercedes stays on the track all year and Hamilton can get it in the podiums then there's no doubt he'll walk the championship. Consistency is what Hamilton needs and McLaren just don't have any at the moment. 5 in the last 7 races have seen only one McLaren finish a race. Not good enough. Next season's car will be based on Hamilton and people are quick to forget Redbull weren't half as quick a few seasons back. |
