CS might not have known exactly what was happening (only bbking would know that) but they where bob on the right track as they do need to send a refresh code to the modem to make it reset. hth mark [EDIT] 2 meggy ness in Teesside sweet:D |

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
Right, so is everyone saying that this is definately the way to upgrade, or is there somebody saying "Sit Tight - this is for new customers only...."
What is the deal - Thought we were getting Automatically updated. Wiggz (confused) |

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
Have seen the like to the upgrade site on NTLWorld.
This only applies to Cable Modem customer, the link for STB customers states that this method of upgrade is not available. Anyone know how STB customers get the upgrade - do we have to sit and wait or try and phone NTL and see if we can get somone that knows at least as much as everyone on this forum. Currently on 750k with a Samsung STB in WA5 postcode (ex-CWC). |

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
I have said this before but still people are saying they can't upgrade. If you try and upgrade through the web browser and it comes up with an error or wont let you do it. Just ring customer service on 0800 052 2000. If they say it is not available tell them "You know several people who have had their connection upgraded through C/S this morning and to check again/ask supervisor". The new codes are available on the system.
Then leave it about an hour if it doesnt automatically change reboot your cable modem and you should have been upgraded. I could not upgrade through the browser but im now surfing at 3mbps. |

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)
About two weeks ago I upgraded to the 750k service. Now ntl don't seem to want to let me have the 2mb upgrade. :erm:
Error You have already changed the speed of your cable modem since your last bill. We regret that becuase of the nature of cable modem billing, it will not be possible to change your level of service until your next bill has been processed. If you require further assistance please contact customer services. If you need further help, please contact our customer support (0800 052 2000). When you call customer support, you may be asked for the following information: Application ntl: Broadband Internet - Connection Speed Upgrade Date & Time 08/03/2005 at 09:31 Your username ***_******* Your Cable Modem Mac Address 00:**:**:**:**:** Your Surname Your Postcode So, firstly does anyone know why ntl's billing system has this limitation? I can see that they don't want people jumping tarifs the whole time but I'm staying on their second tier of service (i.e., I'll be paying them the same amount every month). I had assumed this upgrade would be similar to the last one where a simple reboot was all that was needed. Secondly, will CS be able to help or am I wasting my and/or their time this early on in the upgrade process? [Oh and hello everyone, I'm new, though I've lurked for ages] barq |
