Tbh what good would it have done Bale to go to Utd, is he better than Evra or Heinze? He'd have spent years in your reserves, hampering his development if he'd gone there |

He would have got some games with us, esp if Fergie had pushed Evra forward as a left winger, as has been suggested, but he can do just as well at Spurs.. I'm glad we won the league but we can';t sign everyone and it's nice to see players going to some of the other clubs.. would be great to see the top four change and make it into a top 6 or something.. just look at la Liga and how exciting that league has been this year with four teams rather than the usual two going for the title look at Wright Philips Chelsea bought him just so no one else would and then they barely play him it's a shame that sort of thing can't be stopped by the FA |

To be fair the players have to hold a proportion of blame rather than the FA, look at Sidwell, we offered him a better contract than Chelsea and guaranteed him a starting berth, he probably won't get a look in at Chelsea, seems a shame that players are prepared to use years of their career playing reserve team football |

Hope Bale gets more games at Spurs than Walcott got at Arsenal when he first went... We should have got Walcott back on loan, at least he would've been playing competitive matches. Good deal for us & the Gooners then... |

I wonder how many supporters are going to sue the airline for damages, as they probably forked out quite a bit of dosh on just the tickets alone :O shame for the pool, cant say much about the game as I missed it. |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Manchester United, you finish as League Champions.
Chelsea, you leave with the League and FA Cups. Arsenal and Liverpool, you leave with nothing :D |

not a great performance from either side and i'm sure if Liverpool played more to their normal style and got at them some more they could have won easy |

both teams seemed to cancel each other out and no one really ran at the opponents defence which I think if Liverpoool did theycould have won easy Liverpool were the better side and had more of the play but neither side actually created many chances |

I used to live in Manchester, does that mean by Scottish Liverpool Fan-law that I'm no longer permitted to support United?

ohh my its getting nasty in here.....who gives a **** about where you live, I'm a gooner and I dont live near Arsenal anymore. I know enough people at work that support manu, liverpool, everton, sheffield weds, arsenal, wba, you name it and they dont live in the same area as the team is.
if that would've been the case then Russ would either be supporting Cardiff or Llannelli. |

It only seems to be in Football though, I've never heard anyone tell me that I shouldn't support the New England Patriots and should support the Carrickfergus Knights instead. Or that because I support the Belfast Giants I shouldn't support the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
i read some comments from a Liverpool fan yesterday saying that AC shouldn't be in the comp as they didn't win the league the year before.. bit neither did Liverpool and they haven't won the league since about 89 or 90 i think
shows how fickle these fans are in motor racing I don't just support the English drivers and loads of other sports i just follow who I like rather than a local or nation person lets face it football clubs are no longer the focal point of a local community like they used to be |

Gazzae.
Do you know if Jimmy Quinn (Cambridge United's manager) is linked with the vacant Northern Ireland managers job? It seems to be a rumour around here, but I can't find any news. Cheers |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Not as far as I know, people are saying that the smart money is on Danny Wilson.
Eastwoods (Irish bookmaker) have Warnock, Worthington, Coleman and Wilson as faves with Dowie, Nicholl, Magilton and Keoman behind them. They don't even have Quinn in the running. But this is the IFA who knows who they'll appoint. |

I would have thought that Quinn would need to be managing at a higher level anyway. The source if this information came from Belfast News? apparantly, via CUFC's website, maybe it is just someone making small talk, hopefully :erm: |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Belfast News is a free paper owned by the Belfast Newsletter I think. Can't see anything on their site.
Our Wee Country is a NI supports forum, no one on there is really mentioning Quinn. http://www.ourweecountry.co.uk/ |
