Yes get well soon good sir. At least you can stay up late and watch RAW and Smackdown...though how its written lately might make you more sick.

I read that as bringing pay per view content then and scoffed...Now im intrigued. Does it show anything good? Isn't Starz that really cheesy american low budget channel?

i like cringy american shows so colour me intrigued.

MTV Beats is on TS ID 18 with a service ID of 1812.

Testing on EPG slot 841 in the International section of the EPG. It has flags for the Mix, M+, L/Fun & XL/Full House packs.

It is testing on 5 internal VM networks.

Is Virgin Media UK testing MTV Beats with Video yet?

Starz is the home of shows such as American gods, black sails, outlander, power to name a couple.
Being off ill means more gaming time lol i tend to watch WWE on hulu edited versions so cuts out a lot of the filler rubbish.

Possibly on the 5 networks where it is testing, the presence of package info suggests that the streams have been encrypted.

But if you meant to ask if video and audio streams had been rolled out across the national network, the answer is no. VM hadn't rolled out video and audio streams across the network when I received the last update. I will post the details here when the situation changes.

UPDATE:

As I'm not sure when I will get updated scan data, I checked the digitalbitrate site. It appears that MTV Beats Video and Audio streams have now been rolled out across the national network.

Community Channel to rebrand as "TCC"

Here at Media Boy HQ we update our Freeview HD Box every week (if we got time) and it look like The Community Channel is set for an rebrand.

Are they any good though, MB, or is it just more of the same (eg reality, low grade drama, old films, etc)?

Where did you get that idea, Den? Even VM's own staff don't know what's going on (apart from the inner circle and those they leak to!

Media Boy reckons he knows, but as he never lets on, how do we know?

The whole set up is a con!

We are not posting any more info about some channels that may launch.

The Channels are not testing right on Virgin Media UK anyway.

Three of the DNP are about other things.

If that is correct, and LG have also pulled the plug on Amazon, what future is there for cable tv in the uk?

If VM is prevented from moving forward, it is doomed. What a missed opportunity for VM just when it seemed their ideas wers finally being channelled in the right direction.

I do hope these rumours turn out to be false and that we are awaiting a big announcement this autumn. A massive increase in 4k content could be just around the corner.

Or not.

You do seem to dismiss a lot without actually backing it up don't you?
You do this exact thing to OB too time and time again, do you get a kick out of it or something?
I have documents infront of me from sources far far higher than you sir.

There are many different sources just like the football transfer market and look at that and see how much actually transpires at the end of the day.

You raise a good point, what is the value of DNP orders? I liken it to a situation where the BBC releases details of a weeks TV programmes to the Radio Times, but orders the publishers not to print the information. The Radio Times then complies by replacing BBC programme details with a note that they know what the programmes are but have been ordered not to print the details.

I wonder what RT readers would make of that...

At a guess it is a slate to give more flexibility to PPV streams. If VM are to offer additional streams, the current arrangement could be a little restrictive. But a slate is just a slate, it's not a big deal. :D:D

Well, the adult PPV channel numbers are just static video streams (slates) serving as a promotional link to the NVOD streams carrying the actual content. The real story here is probably hidden away in the NVOD streams. At a guess, it's just another one of many adult channel rebrands, these seem to happen with monotonous regularity on satellite platforms.

So exec at a top media company is going to post on twitter sensitive information are they?
Or someone who maybe works in the marketing department who has confidential information is going to phone the Daily mail?
No sir there is a huge difference between the transfer market information and let's say telecom information.

This is the only up coming PPV event I'm aware of (Outwith SKY Box Office and ITV Box Office):

http://www.boxnation.com/boxing-matc...nady-golovkin/

Boxnation first confirmed this show would be PPV 2 months ago. Since then they've been quiet leading boxing fans to believe it had been scrapped. Boxnation posted the following on Twitter 2 days ago in replies to this event:

"Details released shortly mate. If you're a paying BoxNation subscriber then it's included in your subscription at no extra cost."

I understand this is their position on subscribers to the channel on SKY. How it'll work on Virgin Media

I'd say it's more of a money grabbing farce. I believe it's a work. Can't prove it but I'm certain both are in on the decision. Floyd wins with a bit of controversy to take his record in boxing to 50-0 and retires from the sport. Then rematches McGregor in the Octagon where Connor goes over. Both men end up about $700 million richer and protect their records in their own respective sports.

Here at Media Boy HQ we update our Freeview HD Box every week (if we got time) and it look like The Community Channel is set for an rebrand.

Our Freeview HD box says Community Channel is only broadcasting from 4am - 6am and has been rebrand as "TCC".

If this is a rebrand, they might fall fall foul of whoever owns The Children's Channel these days. TCC was their branding at the end of its life!

Edit: Well, according to Wikipedia, TCC was owned by Flextech who were owned by VM, who in turn sold it to Sky. Challenge, (Sky) Living were amongst the assets sold.

That advert is on the "Live Events" slate (SID 714) which is the gateway to PPV Events for legacy boxes (channel zero). The PPV Slate (SID 4408) is encrypted so could say anything, or nothing.

Note: Digitalbitrate.com is showing the BBC Red Button logo on a video capture but it is an old capture from when SID 4408 was used for the pop-up BBC Red Button 2 channel.

AFAIK it is a holding channel for Community Channel to EPG squat on their existing LCN / EPG slot until they decide to return to Freeview. It is showing Community Channel programmes between 4 and 6am but apparently not the same content that Community Channel is showing during those hours.

I think they use donated unused capacity, so that's why they have to move about a lot. Odd that they don't just simulcast the satellite/cable feed to retain their EPG slot on Freeview until more capacity becomes available.

They did use donated capacity. I really don't know what has changed, it's not like there is heavy demand for COM8. With recent departures from the temporary muxes, including the Viacom 18 channels, there should be lots of spare capacity to "donate".

Community Channel has recently departed from it's original "community" remit, showing commercially produced content previously shown on other channels. Perhaps the commercial channels are complaining that CC has gifted carriage but is showing commercially produced content.

Although I was previously told that the Freeview channel is showing different content to the main channel, I have compared the Freeview EPG guide with the official CC listings and they look pretty similar to me. So I'm not quite sure where that suggestion came from, unless someone is aware of plans to schedule different content in the coming weeks.:shrug:

The timing of this, the lack of notice and the Freeview re-branding is quite odd.

jfman sources are happy to CONFIRM that PPV Slate is showing the screen you find on your TIVO when you press home and pick one of the fight options at the top of the screen.

It resembles the Live Events slate however also states the HD price of £20.95, which isn't on the Live Events one for legacy boxes.

Don't tell anyone else though. ;)

Heads up too you can watch tonights fight on the UFC channel app fightpass for a bargain $99.99 (about £75) lol and people accuse SKY of ripping people off.

Yes, I've watched two series of Lucky Man. The first series was better than I expected, but towards the middle of series 2 it started getting a little tired and I was quite glad when it ended. I won't be watching any more of them.

It's the same on Sky. They can't talk about new channels until they've negotiated the deal with the providers.

That's right, Den. Negotiations could be going just fine, the cableco lets its customers know it's coming, excitement about the launch from subscribers then encourage the channel to demand more money due to the obvious popularity of the channel.

Makes sense really, but it would be nice to have some indicators from Virgin sometimes, without being too specific.

Didn't know about the commercial content.

I wonder if they are having to reduce their presence on Freeview to make room for Freesports that's about to start??

Also, I'm pretty sure that the consortium that won the right to run Freeview undertook to make provision for the Community Channel in its proposal. If it's on for two hours in the middle of the night (for the minimum of two hours now required for any channel) I guess it still meets this criteria.

Unlikely with the massive amount of unused capacity on COM7/8 at the moment.

That's true, I can't fathom why they can't go 24/7 on there as an SD channel in the same way as Talking Pictures, Keep It Country etc.

If there's a problem with doing this, you'd think that they'd become a Freeview internet channel.

Talking of KIC, i'm surprised that they haven't appeared on VM yet as they seem to be on every other platform. Many niche/poorer channels have been joining VM alately, so (although I haven't been able to obtain any info. one way or the other), I think that VM must be offering such channels more favorable conditions to meet customer demands for eg Freeview channels to come to the platform so that we can access/record them all on the one STB.

Edit:. Out of interest, would anyone here welcome a country music channel? It's not really my cup of tea, but I do keep hearing a fair few people say that they still miss Country Music Television (CMT) (I think Viacom own it these days).

Was this ever on cable? I had satellite back in the nineties.

This is probably the sticking point in the negotiations. On the one hand I'm sure VM would love to add a free sports channel, but wouldn't be prepared to pay very much (if anything) for a channel available on Freesat & Freeview. They may even expect to be paid something for the carriage costs!

On the other hand, I'm sure that Freesports would expect some form of payment for providing VM customers with the service.

Its a tricky one as some channels, such as the shopping channels, pay to be on the platform, whilst others are paid by VM for the right to carry it eg Sky 1, but in the case of Freesports I guess it boils down to which party needs the channel to be on VM the most. If it doesn't come to VM I think that this will be useful for those renegotiating due to the forthcoming price rise.
