It's true that we've not got the same number of channels as Sky has but we've caught up on channels like Universal HD, the Sony channels and Spike, the latter which just seemed to pass VM by when it was launched. But we're ahead of Sky in apps :D and equal with them on the frequency of price rises. :(

Babenation (featuring Babestation) has launched on channel 981.

Black screen with a banner saying the channel is locked and you need to enter your PIN to watch.

can this one be hidden as well ?

As it's an adult channel it should automatically be hidden if you've selected that option.

Just checked the listings basically just a freeview channel showing A+E's older shows from its pay channels.

Basically on VM and Sky most will have seen the content if they wanted long since.

More Pawn Stars seriously how many channels is that available on ?

Yes, these type of channels are popping up more and more.

If I end up leaving pay TV, they will be useful as i'm not bothered about waiting for the material if it's free.

Seriously? You need to raise your game, Richard! If you are happy to watch this junk, I really don't know why you are paying a TV subscription!

Apparently, Blaze will be showing former pay TV material from History, H2 and CI.

Are STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh on VM?

If so, they will be rebranding to STV2 when the other STV local channels launch next year (if not before)..

The one thing that annoys me about VM. Is that this is supposed to be a 'major' company. But is driving customers away by increased pricing.

It should be competing for channels WITHOUT price increasing.

I believe that we as the customer is paying far too much money for Cable/Sky. But there again, if the customers keep paying the monthly bill. Then these companies will keep increasing prices.

You only have to look at the price BT paid for PL league football Its just disgusting. Especially the rate that PL clubs play there players

Except for BT include bt sport for free to their tv customers whereas vm add a freeview channel and then increase their prices.
All companies have price increases its the way the cookie crumbles which is why it's best to look around at offers and then tell your company what you got offered and see if they will give you a deal, it's no good whinging on here you need to take action.
I got rid of vm tv ages ago moved between various broadband companies and by using a vpn and various online services i find i have more choice for far less money all together i'm paying £48.50p/m this includes 80mbs broadband a vpn and various subs to online content.
Shop around bud the deals are there if you look.

Stephen 22-09-2016 22:27

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

It is a major company, but they are a business and ARE out to make money like everyone else. They simply couldn't sustain spending more money while not increasing their profits.

So they loose a few existing customers but will take on new customers via the good offers they have, so it all balances out.

If you want more channels and new technology then you have to pay for it. Simple really.

Nope Movies 24 did show Christmas movies every weekend in July.

True Movies always launch True Christmas sometime in October - still trying it confirmed that time of posting.

We feel the following Christmas channels will launch this year.

October? - True Christmas
November 1st - Christmas 24
December 1st? - Christmas Gold (aka GOLD)
December 1st? - Christmas Food (aka Good Food)

All channels outwith Christmas 24 is still to be confirmed.

Looked them up. They are both babe channels.

Doubtless, Vince will feel morally obliged to review them both and subsequently post that his V box has unexpectedly stopped working. :)

Looks like VM have reached an agreement with these types of channels to make them feasible on cable.

Has anyone heard anything about Euronews coming off cable?

But yes is vm going down the sky path of filling up their EPG with mostly filler and p0rn...

Well, questions have been asked and eyebrows have been raised about the amount of money that this channel receives in grants, particularly as it has a major private shareholder and fairly low viewing figures.

I'm not sure if they are cutting back in general or just in the UK- it may be felt that the referendum result signals to them that we aren't interested in European news.

If this is the case, it's a short sighted move if they are hoping to persuade us to stay in some form or another

In theory, the new controlling shareholder is meant to be expanding the business so it seems a strange decision to withdraw from Freesat which can't cost very much. Never mind - it's still on VM!

more scaremonging, many channels broadcast across the EU that aren't in the EU African channels mostly.

They won't have to move. But if it costs more to remain based in the UK, why would they not move?

Do you remember VM's partial relocation to Luxembourg a few years ago, to take advantage of the low VAT rate there?

Apparently sales of TV guides are bucking the trend and doing well.
Bit worrying about Chrimbo listings appearing imminently; we've not even had Guy Fawkes Night yet!

-ITV will launch an HD Channel for ITV Tyne Tees region on Virgin UK Channel 113 soon.
-ITV will launch an HD Channel for ITV Yorkshire (West) region on Virgin UK Channel 113 soon.

I remember saying a few months ago, when these additional regions were added to Sky, that ITV had no plans to add them to Cable or Freeview for the foreseeable future. At the time though, I thought that VM was carrying all of the ITV +1 regions, this appears not to be the case.

Looking at the NIT from the information I received a few weeks ago, I can see that a single ITV +1 SID 10242 is used in the Yorkshire, North East and Cumbria regions. So presumably the Yorkshire version is used in each region. On Satellite & Freeview, Cumbria carries the Granada version of ITV +1 and the North East has had its own version since early 2012.

Similarly, on VM, the Anglia and Meridian ITV regions share ITV +1 SID 10244. Anglia has had a separate regional feed on Freeview / Satellite since early 2012.

ITV +1 Wales & Westcountry was replaced on Freeview / Satellite with additional versions in the West and South West, with Wales keeping its own version. VM has a single version of ITV +1, SID 10248 across the West and South West.

If VM hasn't caught up with the additional ITV +1 regions, which have been running for over four and a half years, I wouldn't expect the additional HD regions any time soon.

I buy this magazine as well. It is better than the EPG for identifying programmes to record. Wading through all the channels on the EPG for the next week's viewing is incredibly boring.

I find the EPG set to Live Guide is quite easy to use - you can see the whole of the channel's output for the evening. Press down and it is the whole of the next channel.

Don't you find that it also picks up a lot of stuff you are not really interested in as well? That wouldn't be good if your hard drive is 95% full and you've set some recordings in HD!

... but realistically, how many apps can be launched that will actually be used?

The main ones are BBC Iplayer, ITV Hub, All4, MyFive, Now TV, Netflix and Amazon and that's really it. There are some others like Talktalk's one, Wuaki, some carrying trailers and others carrying old films. So, perhaps a dozen in total.

Will anyone seriously use more than a dozen apps all of which have to be loaded separately and all with their own separate interfaces/menus? I don't think so.

The whole point of a provider such as VM is that you use all the services through one interface, their menus, rather than separate services. Whatever happened to that....?

I would have thought it would be unlikely if it had followed the traditional method of purchase and download to keep. BBC Store, however, seems to be more about purchasing content, storing it in a BBC Locker and streaming it to multiple devices on demand. As such it would seem an ideal addition to TiVo.

VM will always resist rapid updates to new technology, they have to remain compatible with the 1000s of legacy boxes already in use.

To be fair most of them are pointless crap on the roku, the most recent good one on roku (usa) is the cw app.
The network ones such as fox, syfy, hbogo, showtime, foxsport, nbcsport etc are very good then you get pointless ones like worship tv or dogtv lol.

Yes, Roku strikes me a bit like the web - some good sites out there but plenty of poor quality DIY apps that don't contribute anything.
