Yes there were rumblings about this on Twitter and once investigated the bigoted and sick people involved in this should be banned for life from any football ground and also brought to book in front of the courts and dealt with severely and l feel so sorry for the player involved as by accounts he is a quiet well educated respectful lad who represents everything that is good in our society.

I tend to treat most transfer rumours as just that...something to chat about, but not totally believe.

It is easy for any paper to put a story in...football rumnours are hard to disprove..X person is transfer target etc.

Even if it was true...if it didn't happen, clubs might still deny it.

I wait until someone is signed, that generally is when the belief is warranted :D

Thw fact we are asking Scholes back shows how poor the squad is at the moment. We need to sign someone new rather than look back.

Would have been nice to get Beckham back for a few games he's still puts in a decent cross and his passion and energy for the game could show Nani and others a thing or two

Yes Man Utd do lack a playmaker in midfield since Scholes has retired and Beckham is past it and has been for a couple of years but remember Cleverly is a talented player but he is still young and prone to injuries so Man Utd do need someone but the question is who and one name springs to mind and that is Modric but any bid is unlikely until the end of the season.

Yes I would like Modric he's a great player and if he got back to the form he once had Schneider would be good too.

We went into the season with one playermaker who had hardly had any games before in Cleverly. That was a mistake. I'd still argue we lack a right back at the club and Nani more often than not can't hit the ball to save his life but never seems to develop as a player.

Will be interesting to see if Spurs can hang onto their decent players and build on this season or end up selling and going backwards

l think Spurs will find it increasingly hard to hold onto Modric and l believe he leave the club come this summer and l expect Chelsea and Man Utd to make bids for him and there could also be one or two other clubs chasing him as well.

On Schneider l am not sure about him as one he has lost his form and two he is becoming injury prone as well.

Maybe reserve judgement until it's been investigated. We were 2 blocks away from the incident last night and didn't have a clue what had happened, I thought a missile had hit the lad or something. The usual suspects in the gutter rags seem to know better though even though their more respected colleagues have shown certain people up to be lying as usual. The bottom line is that it's being investigated via the proper channels so just wait and see what happens.

That was recycled from the Mirror and refuted by a BBC photographer. The journos sit nowhere near where the incident took place. The lad knows what upset him and he reported it plus there are stewards and police every few yards at pitch-side and up the aisles so I'm sure there 's plenty to go on.

Until something official comes from the club or the police then I wouldn't be prepared to accept anything printed in the newspapers regardless of the perceived reputation of the publication.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if someone had shouted something like that, there were a lot of bad idiots and day-trippers in last night which is the usual story when there are tickets left until the day before. What is odd though is that we didn't see anyone get thrown out when some reports are suggesting that 3 fans were ejected... there's usually a big kerfuffle when that happens.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed that rivals Manchester United are still the team to beat.

The sides meet in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, while City hold a three-point advantage over their rivals at the top of the Premier League.

United have suffered two successive league defeats in the last week, but Mancini said: "If you want my opinion, United are the best team in England.

"They have a strong team with a strong mentality and they are at the top."

United boss Alex Ferguson has played down the significance of "two bad results" ahead of the derby at the Etihad Stadium, and Mancini also refuted suggestions that City's neighbours are on the slide

"We can't be like [United] in two years; they have had this mentality for 25 years," Mancini said.

"We can improve if we continue to win - if we win the championship or other cups. We started it last season. But in two years it is impossible."

think the game all depends on what team each club field.

With City in a position to finally win the league for the first time since 68? they might view the cup as not a priority and field a weaker side, with both Toure's missing already.

United might still feel they can win the league and field a weaker side too, although I could argue we don't have much of a strong side to start with

Had City been playing anyone else today I'd have agreed but this is United. Yes they has the result at OT earlier but they won't be happy with that. They'll want to take our Premiership AND dump us out of the FA Cup. They want to humiliate United for the past 40 years. You have to wonder if they still had 11 men on the field what the score might be.

If United fluff this then we deserve to have won nothing this season.

This would be utterly embarrassing for United for they fail to win this.

The ref really has been shockingly poor.

---------- Post added at 14:47 ---------- Previous post was at 14:45 ----------

How did Evra get away with that (the arm)? Aghhh this is too tense. My treble is at risk here, come on United.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Referee hsving shocker, Man Utd deserve nothing....but..if you have 12 men vs 10...you will always be favourites to win :D

Wait, linesman is now helping Man Utd...sigh..as if there isn't enough men on man Utd side

City do deserve a replay at least, although I am hoping United see this out.

Not going to mention United's penalty call just before City's second goal?

Yeh and City should have just had one as well.

United win. Phew.

Very unlucky City.

Good fightback but shame that both sides had problems with a bad ref.. I would have liked to have seen a replay but at least now we can concentrate on the premiership/Europa

Well done to United for going through but most of the praise should go to City for their stirring courageous second half performance.

It's only one part, I need Sunderland and West Ham to win.

good result but still not the greatest performance in the world.

Having Scholes on the bench shows how weak our squad is and is almost a death nell to the career of Pogba who is meant to be a decent player but clearly Fergie prefers a player who's retired to a younster who could be the future.

Never a sending off and shows what the game has come to where a decent tackle, where the player wins the ball , makes no contact with a player but gets sent off

I thought it was a definite red card. Two footed and high, he could have very easily broken Nani's leg/ankle. Any other European league there would be no complaint with that decision.

I seen Giggs do a two footed tackle afterwards...same tackle..no card.

Referee had an agenda,..which he delivered

My guess is that he was asking about the stonewall pen that the ref missed.;)

Re: Football Season 2011/12

I think that the game of City v United was ruined by the farcical red card from Foy, and Rooney telling the ref with hand signals what he saw.

No way was it a red card, hinged on a yellow but not a red.

I think the game to watch is Posh against Sunderland, Posh are a good side and think they can pull off an upset here.

Micah Richards on twitter - 'We lost today but in our heads we won'

I suppose he scored that overhead kick he completely missed in his head as well. What a tool.

Apparently city are going to appeal the red card. Hopefully the FA uphold it and he gets the 4 match ban, which will be a massive blow for city.

l am sorry but it is a injustice that Kompany now has to serve a 4 match ban for what at most was a yellow card offence.
