Family fantasy based on a graphic novel, starring Emilia Jones (daughter of Aled). Probably just as well this is the last season now she’s done a turn in a best picture Oscar …. They probably couldn’t afford her for much longer.

yeah, I thought it was a travesty she wasn't nominated for Best (Supporting) Actress.

I thought the same but I do like the premise of it, it just depends on how much it leans into the horror. I don't mind suspense and scary but if it is more horror than scifi I won't like it. I think I'll give it a go over summer when everything has finished.

Quote:

The story revolves around a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest which included terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down. Sheriff Boyd Stevens has instituted strong rules in the town to maintain order and to keep residents safe. Jim and Tabitha Matthews find themselves trapped in the town after a car crash. Together, they must find a way to keep their children — Julie and Ethan — safe as they desperately search for a way back home

Well it is a little like Salems lot in the fact the people are safe indoors as long as they hang a totem and do not let them in. There a bit of blood and not a great deal of gore tbh. The first season mainly focuses on the town and the mystery around it

Ditto.

Legends was fun, and last season was one of its better runs.
That said, it got a good run, and only one "original" legend was still in it.

I enjoyed the first season of Batwoman. I thought I enjoyed the 2nd Season. Now, that might be weird to say, but when the 1st season finished I was actually excited for the 2nd. For some reason, although I enjoyed the 2nd, when the 3rd came around, I didn't feel the same excitement. Not sure why.

I am sad to see Legends go, it was my favourite of the Arrowverse shows, with some of the best episodes being those that played around with the formula a bit.

Paul 02-05-2022 00:27

Re: Renewals & Cancellations

Batwoman was more interested in promoting its wokeness than actual stories.
Season 2 carried this on, starting with the whole replacement nonsense, they should have just killed it after Season 1.
The best character was Alice, she was really the only reason I kept watching, but even she became a little tiresome as season 3 dragged on.
I had already decided I wasnt bothering with Season 4, but it seems I was beaten to it, the CW decided not to bother.

General Maximus 02-05-2022 00:37

Re: Renewals & Cancellations

It will be interesting to see what DC has got planned tv wise now. At one point a few years ago everything was automatically renewed plus they couldnt get new series like Stargirl and Black Lightning out fast enough. It is all coming to an end now; Flash has probably only got one season left in it as well. Tbh i would be happy if this was the last season because it feels like they are grasping as straws story wise.

I didn't even bother with it. The only Equalizer I have ever known is Denzel Washington. I don't mind a female being cast in the role but it needed to be somebody who could kick ass more like Ming-Na Wen, Jennifer Garner (aka Sydney Bristow), Laura Vandervoort, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jessica Alba, Rachel Nichols, Erica Durance, Jessica Henwick, Eliza Dushku, basically anyone we have ever seen kick ass. They were all young at the time they were famous and would be perfect choices now as they could play the older wiser seasoned veteran role.

Eh? The only Equalizer is Edward Woodward. He overcomes crooks by showing up in an early 80s Jaguar XJ6 and intimidating them with his cut-glass accent and devastating logical mind. He leaves the grunt work to his sidekick.

And he rides into the sunset accompanied by the most mental synth theme tune ever written for TV.

The Stuart Copeland theme for the eighties show is legendary
The reinvented show is a bit of fun. No point in remaking the original.
A two season renewal shows a bit of confidence in the new show even when they sacked a main star (Noth).
Queen latifah does kick ass rather well so bring it on.
As I say a guilty pleasure but not ground breaking TV.

Have to agree with Chris here. Edward Woodward, the best Equaliser by far.

BTW you missed Melissa O'Neil off the girls who could do it. She kicked ass in Dark Matter and has done in The Rookie, only 4 yrs younger than Laura as well.

The ratings for The 4400 were diabolical and it would have been a joke if it had been renewed. It can literally serve as an example on how not to make a series. What is sad is that they had a hugely popular quality series on which to base it on so you scratch your head and wonder what bunch of muppets could get it so wrong.

no, that kind of stuff is too light hearted for me. That video is great though and a lovely nod to her past. I love that kind of gesture. What I want to know is after the "planned" audition with the judges is if anyone from Idol took her aside and said "actually, we would love to have you come back and audition again if you are interested".

good for her, I had no idea. If they brought Dark Matter back or if she played a serious role in another scifi series I would love it (if she was up for it) if they made singing part of her character. You don't get that in a lot of scifi series and to have someone who is actually good at it would be fantastic.

not surprised at all, I am amazed it didn't get cancelled half way through the first season. It was a really bizarre series. It had four seasons and pretty much went nowhere. I think it is the least developed series I have ever seen.

Charmed did not surprise me, or Roswell.

The Boys has been renewed for Season 4.

Too much of the same old being renewed. If it makes money, just churn more of it out. Thats why the BBC would be missed as they aren"t motivated by profit and will take risks with new drama.

( btw when are they going to renew Blake's 7? ;) )

But surely programs are only renewed if they are popular so what's wrong with that?

Just like your pretentiousness ;)

I do not mind long running series as long as they remain good. The Flash for example I used to really enjoy but then it got in with the woke crew and that just spoiled it and I could not take it any more

Only Fools should have ended after the auction
Good Life should have been more

Tbf Last of the Summer Wine would be in my Room 101 , racist and 30 series too long !

Steptoe and Son has never been bettered though.

(BTW Shelley ,On the buses , Never the Twain were ITV, check your lists before cutting and pasting ;))

Being popular doesn't necessarily mean they are any good. There are excellent dramas with low viewing figures that commercial broadcasters wouldn't touch.

Blake appeared in all four seasons - every episode of the first two, and the finales of seasons 3* & 4.

* Yes, I know it was actually a facsimile designed to fool Avon and not actually Roj Blake, but still …

Yes but if you were in charge of a tv station would you cancel a program that was extremely popular? How is Last Of The Summer Wine racist?

Trust me, if you live in Yorkshire it's racist ;)

You might cancel a programme if you wanted money to do something new/better. Look at the absurd number of series US TV shows do. So far in the UK we tended to quality over quantity e.g. Fawlty Towers just 12 episodes of perfection. In the US they'd still be running it and it would be in its 82nd series, with its 27th hotel owner.

Faulty Towers ended because the writers and main stars decided not to do anymore, not because the BBC didn't want to do anymore.
I don't believe a program is racist simply because they don't have many black people in it. If that were the case then you could say that about just about every program pre 1980's!

I think this is going a little off topic, please stick to Renewals & Cancellations, there are other topics for tv discussions (or make one).
