The 00:00 will over-ride the 00:45 booking (you may get a pop up reminder - just cancel the pop up).. if it does show twice on your bill VM will credit the second one back if you speak to Customer Care on 150.

It's Fanatic BTW ;)

The only reason I said that is because you thought it would be funny if the HD channels were to fail for everyone on launch day, earlier in this thread... now imagine the same happening with Film4 HD? Not so funny now? ;)

Just an observation :)

The article I read suggested that it was just Mediawatch UK who wanted it banned, not that it will be banned. As long as it is on after 10 I can't see an issue with it. So it has a lots of boobs and blood but it is still a very entertaining show.

And minge! Don't forget the minge!

How can they ban it, it's really not that bad. There are many movies on TV these days that have worse imo.

from what i gather Diva+1 finishes all its program airing at 1am then at 6am all the new HD channels start to air. so i presume Diva+1 will be changed on the EPG to Sci Fi HD sometime between 1am and 6am.

To bee fair there is ALREADY a must offer for movies and sports (1,2) 3+4.

But i fully agree they bottled it. all this review adds to the current rate card is a must offer for HD (at an undetermined price) , and a maximum charge for sports 1+2. In exchange for that they have agreed to devalue the freeview brand.

Also shame we can't have ITV 1 HD a few hours early for Arsenal v Barcelona tonight! First game will be Man Utd v Bayern next Wednesday.

All the dates I have on areas joining NGTV is on the NGTV thread.

I have seen no date for Preston Headend joining NGTV. April 6th was the date I was given on when you local BBC Radio Channels was going to be drop from Virgin TV.

Cost.

To upgrade a show to HD costs a fortune, not just in cameras and editing facilities, but entire sets have to be remade. Most TV show sets just aren't designed for HD, there's too many blemishes that don't show up in SD but are overly distracting in HD.

They've been upgrading the sets and buying in HD equipment to replace end of lifespan equipment, but it's a long process.

Sorry the only thing I agree with is the costs of set, all new cameras these days shoot a flavour of HD, editing on a MAC allows to edit in HD. Cannot speak about eastenders but a majority of footage is just down converted to SD.

Damn, there was me thinking that editing a TV show was far more complex than buying a couple of cameras and an apple mac, I wonder why more people don't do it?

Like I said, Eastenders is currently shot on SD cameras, they are in the process of migrating to a HD set up, they are in the process of replacing end of life SD cameras with Sony HSC-300's for the studio cameras, and Sony PDW 700's for the location cameras. Nice and cheap!

That's just for the cameras, you're going to need to add HD capable broadcast monitors and control units before you can even think about using them, not to mention the editing desks which are A LOT more complex and expensive than a damn mac.

Just so you know I haven't pulled the cameras they'll use out of my ass here's an article on it dated a mere 2 weeks ago.

Please note that as a UK taxpayer you are paying for this so I would expect it will joining the VM lineup from day 1

You've been paying for BBC Alba as a Licence Fee payer for months -still no sign of it on VM. That's not a complaint, I can't think of anything on it I want to watch.

Casualty will broadcast in HD from early 2012 after it moves sets in 2011

I e-mailed them last september.

Hi ****,

Casualty is moving production location in 2011, and therefore will move to HD delivery at the same time. That will mean that Casualty will probably start transmitting in HD on our channel in early 2012. Because of the shift in locations, it doesn't make sense to make changes earlier than this.

All the best,

Eurosport HD seems to be on my EPG now but as I am on the M package I can't watch it. Bit annoyed as I get the SD version and I thought this was a FTA channel.

ITTV HD has listings for Friday and I can view that so looks like that is available to all of us which is great news

Very good point. I can only get BBC Alba via Zattoo on my desktop. However, like you, there is nothing on it I want to see. Kinda like S4C....

Yeah, you can upgrade for a minimum of 30 days and downgrade back to M+, not sure how long the Tour De France is?

Itv1 HD isn't in the tv guide listings on there:( Wish they would add it so we can see which shows will be airing in HD each day rather than upscaled SD.

It's a simulcast of ITV1 London (to begin with - see ITV1 HD thread) It's in the VM EPG now though isn't it?

ESPN2 is rumoured to arrive this year, but there won't be an ESPN2 HD from launch.

I'm afraid I don't know everything about ESPN, and unfortunately I can't comment either way regarding the Superleague Formula.

I dont know if it's just me but got itv1HD on and I cannot see any difference at all. Now I know the program being shown is not in HD but on 4hd there is noticable upscaled difference even where as this looks exactly the same.

Sorry but I must disagree, I thought ITV1 pixalated quite alot but on ITV1 HD the picture is sharp and clear.

virginruinedntl 02-04-2010 10:24

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

yeah the upscaled itv1hd is far better, no horrible pixelated edges to images or writing now:)
