Don't worry there won't be much if any snow and it won't even get that cold ,still waiting for the "beast from the east"

Example - Grit from Asda (£2.49 for 2kg)

Smartprice Cat Litter (£1.58 for 10lt)

It is cheaper, but people doing this in 2010, I think it was, caused a national shortage of cat litter

Or what about getting a 20/25kg bag of sharp sand (currently £1.81 per bag at B&Q) and use bag of cooking salt (or other cheap salt).
Spreading sand first then sprinkle salt on top, beats spending £6/£8 - 20/25kg bag of rock salt.

No sign of any snow here yet - SE London/N.Kent area. Our local council provides free bags of salt and snow shovels to groups of residents who want to help keep the side roads clear. The scheme works quite well especially as, at the first sign of snow, travellers have been known to empty the official grit bins and then use the stolen grit for clearing private drives etc. for a price.

checked east coast they reporting to start 1600 friday not stop until late monday. Crikey if this is heavy think we could be in for more than 10cm at that rate. We low land. God help this area council useless idiots failed to cope at 2cm. Grass here full snow but major roads cleared finally last 2 days our council been absolute garbage. We have had little gritting or snow clearing left motorist in mess. crashes galore. I laughed when news said it had not caused disruption as councils been prepared. Its been chaos with delays buses trying to negotiate roads more akin to ice rink for two days. First by snow yesterday/night -4 to -7 temperature. Though last night grit would not helped I believe as grit fails at this temp.

That`s a large area with lots of highs & lows - Last time we had snow my biggest problem was opening the gate at home. Once on the road even the city car worked. Lots of staff said can not get in - two left company after I drove to their homes with no problem & offered them lifts in
