Re: TiVo

Does anyone know with TIVO , if it recommends say Hustle to me would it know to record it in HD or is this an option ?

Re: TiVo

Most of my suggestions that have recorded have been SD programmes, even if an HD version is available. I understand from DF that this has been fed back to Virgin and they hope to change this to record the HD version if available.

Thats probably a good thing though isn't it? I mean it is only a suggestion, so you don't want it recording a load of HD which is going to fill up your drive quicker?

It's a 1TB hard drive remember, recording in HD will takes ages to fill it. ;)

Ok After reading that review, I will definitely take one when offered. I have been wavering slightly after reading all the small gripes that other people seem to be having with the machine. But I love the fact that it buffers 2 channels at the same time.

I am hoping that I will be one of you lucky few who have been offered one for nothing. I have entered the online draw through the link what was posted on here, but I did not receive a raffle ticket. I believe we are a XXXL customer with 20meg, all the TV v+ with a v Box, and also the full telephone service.

It will eventually buffer up to three channels at the same time :)

Depends how many suggestions it makes however?

I'm sure I have read that it automatically deletes older suggestions to record what is set up in the EPG if the drive is full.

Found it

http://www.virginmedia.com/tivo/tivo_complete_guide.pdf

Page 20 And you can turn off auto record if you want.

Re: TiVo

Yes it does do that. It will delete things out of your deleted recordings folder and out of the suggestions to make way for planned recordings to take place. And it won't record a suggestion over a planned recording if it would mean too many tuners are in use - if that makes sense. I've not worded that very well!

Most HD channels are simulcast ones, with the odd exception.

My question, therefore, is can you not 'programme' the channels it 'monitors'?
(Maybe under the guise of Favourites, and specifying only to monitor Favourite channels)

i.e remove BBC1, ITV, Ch4, 5 etc, leaving their HD counterparts as 'the only choice'

Or does it merely go by your subscription level ?
i.e. I don't have SkyMovies so it won't be attempting to record films off SkyMovies (I should hope it doesn't)

It goes by what channels you sub to. It doesn't record channels you don't sub to either.

That's just picked up a "complaint" on TiVo Community Forum. You'd expect it on there, the members on that forum have given some really good constructive feedback.

On the Pocket-lint review I think that something may be a-foot or they have got their numbers wrong?

Oh, and because there’s a 1TB HDD on board, you can store up to 150 hours of HD video or 1,350 hours of standard-def.

So they will call the ones who have lost the free raffle and say:

"Sorry to say you havent been picked for a free TiVO because we dont think your loyal enough and your boring". :p:
