Re: Football Season 2011/12
I think it's a case of if United are able to scrape victories with the crap we've been using over the last 2 or 3 seasons then what's the point of spending £10 or £20m on new players.
I know SAF has said that if the right player is identified then the Glaziers will make the funds available but I have a feeling that it comes with unspoken pressure which says to only spend that money if there is no other option. And while we flatulently win league titles with second-rate players then that will always be an option. We've been lucky over the last few years because no other team has looked dangerous enough to overtake us, and that has only reinforced the policy. In a way I'm glad Man City have bought the title this year, hopefully it will be the wake-up call the Glaziers need. Sadly I can't see it happening though as despite our numerous sub-standard performances, we're still 2 points behind the top spot. As much as I hate to say this, I'd prefer we finish 5th or 6th. THAT would force a revolt. |
