Is your point "we need" or "you want (just in case)" - have you ever considered that there may be some, or even many, people who don't need !!

We don't need more +1 channels they are a waste of bandwith. For example i would choose Universal channel HD over DMAX +1 and DMAX +2 any day

give me a good reason why we can't have both Universal channel HD and DMAX +1, if you don't want to watch DMAX +1 then its your choice

I would rather Virgin media spent money on popular channels not DMAX +1, pop girl +1,Tiny Pop +1 etc

No, the point I'm making is that there will always be a percentage of the population that will want (not need) more, many of them without any consideration of the impact on costs for the rest and yes, when you look at the posts there is a demand (not need) for more HD channels but when compared to the number of VM customers the number pales into insignificance so no we do not need more HD channels however much we might want them

Completely disagree. So we don't need Sky Atlantic HD and ITV4 HD for example ?

We don't need it no. Proven by the fact that customers haven't jumped ship so that they can get the channel. It would be nice to have but its not a necessity.

Media Boy Any news on the ITV HD channels ?

New info on ITV on Virgin Media:

ITV is gearing up to launch pre-roll advertising around its VoD content on Virgin Media as early as next year.

ITV Player is currently ad-free on Virgin’s internet connected platforms and it is understood that the broadcaster is examining ways to commercialise the service.

ITV is in talks with Virgin about using the company’s on-demand TV advertising technology, which enables content providers to sell targeted advertising around specific programming.

The discussions are understood to be include content on TiVo and one media agency source suggested that advertising opportunities could be made available early next year. Channel 4’s 4oD currently carries ads on Virgin’s services.

Sorry media boy can you explain what this means

Everyone wants something different and you will never please all, on balance I would say virgin have it about right. But more channels would be nice, either in SD or HD.

Could dump a good 50 to 75 % of whats on offer as far as I can see - All music channels, nature, and most of UKTv ( new runs are one thing repeats of repeats, life to short for that.) for a kick off.
However, up to now do use +1 ( mostly around 9pm) a lot.Perhaps once TiVo is put in I will change my mind, however there are only so many hours in a day that I can watch TV. At work all day, & do have other things to do but don`t we all ?

They are not a waste of bandwidth at all. They come in very handy. For example I may have forgotten to watch a program I was interested in and can then watch it an hour later. Or I may have forgotten to set a program to record and can see it a bit later.

Or I may already be recording three shows at the same time and the +1 channel will let me not miss the other show I wanted to see.

Just means that ITV are thinking of putting adverts in front of their VOD content.
