What a let down and joke this all is, massive fanfare around 100/200/300 (though I know it was never really officially confirmed) and then it doesn't happen and they announce a stupid name and speed packages that are barely an upgrade imo, so much so the speed upgrade branding appears to have been removed from their website and the video they had has been made unlisted on youtube, though I know they could be in the process of updating it to reflect the new speeds.

It just feels wrong to me to build so much hype and then announce something that isn't that exciting.

who built the hype ?

To be honest it looks like it was user's of forums like this one that decided what the speeds were going to be. A case of one person says he heard this and the rest believe him religiously.

Seems odd that there's an 80Mb jump (more than doubling) from the low tier to mid tier, but then only a 50Mb jump to the top tier.

I'm sure the majority of people will agree it's better to take incremental steps rather than jumping in at the deep end. There is also no way BT could give a 50mb upgrade more or less instantly. This upgrade is with existing CPE, so seeing as the new CPE is only just reaching trial stage, I imagine there will be plans for much bigger gains in future

exactly, but it also explains why they are able to pretty much upgrade everyone is one go and not spend the next year and a half doing it. I just hope they increase the upstream as well to 200/16 and don't leave it at 12.

Not fussed about down speeds, 200mbd is more than fast enough, the only thing I want is better upload and STM reduction.

Indeed that again was assumptions by them. VM never said what the speeds would be. VM tested different speeds and people just assumed that those were the speeds VM would go to. It is one of the problems many companies face when people make assumptions on forums and they turn out to be incorrect assumptions. Then people start calling retentions and demanding stuff based on what they have read on a ruddy forum posted by people who don’t have a clue what is really happening because they don’t actually work for that company !!!!.

I have beeen reading the on-going rumours on here for the last 2 months about the upgrade. It had me smiling to see posts by people who claim to be in the know but don’t work for VM. They were making statements that were just not true. People who work for VM would not make statements on here about what will happen until they are allowed to as we all have to abide by the rules the company makes on public and company information release.

ISP Review are reporting that upload speeds are not improving.

what a joke. After all the hype and making themselves look like they are doing something for the customer, it turns out it is just a little something to try and keep everyone happy to mitigate the price increase and they are clearly doing the bare minimum.

I'm just going to put this out there. If 300Mbit was ever a thing, it was going to need new hardware.

There's new hardware being trailed soon. Could be a coincidence, could be a precursor to another speed increase.
