Not belting on about this VM v Sky business, and getting channels on the cheap.

Sky and VM are a business, like any other, Sky get channels then sell them to various companies, I don't know what Sky sell channels for, but when when Sky offered Atlantic to VM, they said ' we offered at a reasonable price', but VM said no.

Obviously VM want the best for its customers, the same as SKy, BUT if you want a rolls royce you don't offer money for a Vauxhall Viva do you.

VM can quite easily go and get channels under there own steam but prefer to go through Sky.

Sky said they offered at a reasonable price but that I fail to believe. It was probably a heavily inflated price and Sky were just trying their luck. VM probably said no as Sky wanted far more for the channel than VM think it's actually worth.

Sky is a business, and so is VM.

But everyone knows that Sky gives a better quality, more channels than VM and is way behind in development, ie how long have we had the promise of the red button, we have to wait until August for that on the football front.

We have had techonlogy for ages, but VM doesn't seem to know where the button is to press it, thatas why you have disgrunteld customers.

Better quality what? Because Sky exclusively has channels with Sky in the name doesn't mean the competition is any less worthy.

Should sky be allowed access to VM's cable network? Because just like VM have access to SKY CHANNELS and Openreachs network why cant anyone acces VMs cable network?

No what l am saying, is that VM must up the stakes for an increase in quality channels - but this comes at a price.

At the moment, they are increasing +1 channels, which are just an hour on the original, wht don't they just invest in quality channels and increase the HD quanity.

I do have the phone and the Internet from VM which is very good, but l won't invest in the full channels just yet as VM cannot gurrantee the red button won't have any faults, IF l miss anything to do with Spurs cuased by a 'fault' from VM, the boxes will go in the bin.

Yes l think thats definitely true as Sky are notorious for their greedy negotiating style but as we found out with the Sky basics fiasco thats is not always the style where both groups can come to a reasonable carriage agreement.

Radio Today: Ross linked to Virgin bid for Absolute Radio.

It’s being reported that Jonathan Ross is in talks with Richard Branson as part of a team thought to be lining up a bid to buy Absolute Radio.

Sky’s City Editor Mark Kleinman says that the former Radio 2 presenter met with Branson earlier this week and would host the station’s breakfast show.

Note to all: Story is from July 10th.

BSkyB may close Challenge in September?

BSkyB has not put Challenge on the list of channels on the new look Sky packages from September.

So unless BSkyB to move Challenge to FTV or FTA it may close or Sky have forgot to add it to the page - I do not know.

http://www.sky.com/mysky/enjoymore/entertainment

More info as I get it.

Challenge is FTA isn't it? Its on Freeview and its viewing numbers are much higher than it used to be when it wasn't free.

They'll be moving it then, they've just got new content so I don't think Challenge is going anywhere.
