best way to do it, there is nothing you can do from your end to fix that error... maybe ask customer services if they wont do it to confirm the username and password that is linked to your cable modem account :D

After I rang CS on Tuesday and the pleasant Scottish lady advised me to wait until I had received mail notification, I decided to do just that, and surprise, surprise. When I awoke this morning, the sun was shining, the world hadn't come to an end so I thought, thats nice, 2 Meg, a few days later than others really is not Armageddon. :) A certain calm pervades my soul.

Not really weird at all. NTL have started doing the upgrades but would be foolish to do their entire million plus broadband customer base in one go. Think of the situation that would ensue if there was a problem and it affected most or all of these customers.

NTL have not actively marketed the new speeds so the few that have upgraded up to now have only been able to do so because of visiting sites such as this. Most broadband customers don't even know these sites exist. There is nothing on the ntlworld site regarding the new speeds other than by following the upgrade your speed links and new customer links. Existing customers are unlikely to visit those pages.

There will be no new customers on the new speeds yet as the earliest they could have signed up would have been the 8th March and there is at least a 7 day wait for installation. Having said that, there could be new customers being installed now that signed up before the new speeds were announced who will probably have the new speeds from the start, much to their surprise.

Lots of people reporting here that online upgrading does not seem to work for them, well it did for me when I visited:

http://www.ntlworld.com/data-feeds/editorial/microsites/tierMigration/

It took about five minutes and no reboot needed.

One of the few times that I have been happy with NTL!!!

just imagine the havoc in technical support and customer service if they did the upgrades all at once and as a result of this 1 in 15 customers followed up by calling in, can you imagine the queues :o

Then i look on here an its the 8th of march?? I have reset my cable modem and havent had an increase, so all i ask is`.... who is right

thanks

I live in merseyside area and when i phoned up CS about the upgrade for my pace STB i was told i have to wait until April 6th for the box but not to worry cos the upgrade is not happening until next month anyway :( but hey i'm happy on 750 and can wait as long as it takes for a free upgrade to 2mb

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

Hopefully this post doesnt get lost in here.

Im in Belfast and still waiting on the upgrade (SACM), I understand a timetable has been set for the roll out of the speeds. Since Tuesday I have been patient enough and still am prepared to wait another few days at least.

My query is - what is the best option: Wait to be upgraded automatically or upgrade manually via the website??

I notice on the NTL Service Status page that work has been carried out on the broadband network in Belfast on Tuesday, Wednesday and this morning. Work is also planned for tomorrow morning between Midnight and 6am. Does this mean that it is highly likely that I will have automatically received the upgrade tomorrow sometime???

Finally, how has anyone on here from Belfast/Northern Ireland fared in this BB Speed Upgrade - have you been auto-upgraded or did you contact NTL to do it??

Just a thought??

James

you could try and update yourself on the tier migration page, that is your best option :D

still as far as i am aware nobody has been automatically upgraded as of yet :)

That answers my question, probably!! I live in Ellesmere Port and I tried to upgrade online to the 3Mb BB (I use a Cable modem) and it said that it could not upgrade and to phone NTL. Look's like I will have to wait for the upgrade to take place next month - hopefully!!! :(
