"In search of a midnight kiss"

It's outstanding. When I realized that it was black and white, I was getting ready to get rid of it, but an amazing photoshop session (!!!!) in the beginning of the film, made me realize that this director had the balls to surprise.

Very unusual Indie production, very good acting. Get it!

If you have seen it, do not spoil it for the others.

Fast & Furious are somewhat boring though, mostly fake cgi and slow speeds with speeded up frames to make it look fast.

Don't even come close to the real thing aka initial d, speedway freeway, evolusi and so fourth.

Where did you hear there was lots of CGI, from the making of documentaries on the HD DVDs and DVDs all the car races were shot properly, well for the first two films anyway.

Am so glad they are bringing all the cast from the first movie back for the new one.

Just watched Rear Window 9/10 - fantastic film and still stands up in the modern World.

Also the Birds 8/10 - effects haven't aged but its a pretty scary film all the same.

Bit of a Hitchcock afternoon for me:)

Watched most of the first two the previous couple of nights and while they weren't quite so bad their more my lads cup of tea than mine.

I've not seen Tokyo Drift yet, as I should hopefully be recording it tonight.

Hmm... Sounds alright in theory, except for the fact that the way it's phrased kinda makes it sound like Brian's the 1 who's just got out of jail, not Dom. I was under the impression that Brian managed to avoid prison by way of agreeing to work on the case in 2F2F?

Cheers Matt Love North By Northwest as well.

Its the 14 disc boxset I am working my way through. Bought it ages ago but haven't had the time to get through everything :-)

Will have to get that other boxset you linked to as it has all the other films I want that aren't in the big boxset, as well as Strangers on a trains! The bloke really was good at making films!:)

Ah they were great for simply switching your brain off, relaxing and just enjoying the ride :D

Christmas vacation was indeed the best.

Die Hard 4.0 - "Ultimate Action Edition" DVD

8/10

I think a better title would have been "Ultimate F-word Edition", as from what I could tell, the only real difference between this 15 rated DVD & the 12A rated theatrical cut is that this version hasn't been censored for language, and is in fact peppered throughout with the f-word & variations.[whereas the theatrical cut didn't even have one f-word, not even the full "Yippee Ki-yay..." at the end].

Strangely, I think the extra swearing actually makes it more of a proper "Die Hard" movie IMO. Can't have a "Die Hard" without lots of f-words :)

Yeah, I enjoyed it.

Some stupid bits, but the original trilogy had some silly bits too.

Then again, I don't think the original trilogy had anything quite like The Fridge though...

Found the english dub more fitting than the japanese for some reason, alot of action, abit of comedy thrown in too, quite enjoyable.

Wall-e

8 out of 10.

When I first saw it, I thought I was going to be put off by how sentimental it was. While there was a lot of sentimentality in it, it had a surprisingly good story. It also had good performances from the cast (although the two main characters just used a series of sampled and heavily processed words as a language so didn't really speak as such).

Excellent graphics as well. Especially in HD. A lot of pop culture references as well.

It was the lack of dialogue & , rather, the way the animation expressed the story that appealed to me, I thought it was great & agree with your 8/10 :)

Rumble in the Bronx: 6/10

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift: Not too bad, the main character's hicksville accent was rather annoying though. 7/10

Vampire in Brooklyn: Not bad. 7/10

Garfield: Much better than I was expecting from what some people had written about it. Loses a point for the song he sings when John throws him out, as it seems totally out of character for Garfield, & out of place for the movie as it's not a musical [thankfully!]. 7/10

I tuned in last night and tried to get into this, but after 30 minutes or so I was left wondering exactly why I was supposed to give a damn about any of the main characters. The plot was obscure, wrapped in far too many layers of backstory and legend. I have seen just enough of the TV series to have had some idea what was going on, but anyone who came to this cold will most likely have been totally flummoxed.

I gave up well before the end.

Jewel Staite is far better employed in Stargate Atlantis. :D

It's been a while since I saw this, but I agree, it was well done, and nice to see Natasha Little, who played Becky Sharp in the mid-90s BBC adaptation given a role in the film as Lady Jane (IIRC there may have been others, but I can't remember who).

The first time I saw "Serenity" was before I ever saw "Firefly". In-flight movie, not much choice. I didn't know the characters, or the backstory, but I watched it & found it fairly enjoyable.

When I next watched it, after having had a marathon "Firefly" DVD session, I loved it. Really really helps if you know the series, the characters, the story.

Speed 2:Cruise Control. Another zero from me. I'm not having much luck this week!

I sat through 90 minutes of this on e4+1 just now, before giving up to go to bed. It's awful. The soundtrack is awful, the dialogue is clunky and the pacing is all over the place. I think the film editor has used blunt garden shears.

Where Eagles Dare

The Guns of Navarone

Two classic WWII movies, both based on stories by Alistair MacLean.

Both excellent, with excellent casts.

Then again, I've not played the games. If you don't have any expectations, & just want something to watch that involves your standard humans-versus-monsters type story, you could certainly do worse. 6.5/10

A yes, but I was giving a score for the film and not the beautiful Kate, I'll revise my scores accordingly.

Bolt 3D Very funny and highly entertaining! 3D worked really well and wasn't the usually gimmicky stuff.

Loved Rhino the wee fat hamster.

8/10

The Other Boleyn Girl (Sky Movie Channels) 5/10
Surprisingly bad. I thought most of the main cast were completely typecast incorrectly. I don't mind creativity taking a different take on things compared to other versions - the BBC one on a few years ago. The BBC version of what I remember just seemed much more sumptuous, fun and engrossing. I think David Morrissey was actually the best person in that ahead of all his hollywood superstars he was supporting.

Spiderwick Chronicles [DVD] 6/10
Second viewing. Saw it at the cinema too. Just underwhelming. Not read the books though.

Just saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall again, it's ok for about half an hour but then it gets really tedious. Russell Brand plays himself in it so it's up to you whether you'll get along with that. It was only the inclusion of (the mega hot) Mila Kunis (Meg from Family Guy) that kept me watching til the end.

5 out of 10.

Historically the only main fault was that Anne most likely was younger than Mary. There is documented evidence that supports this story

I actually meant style and casting as opposed to historical accuracy. There is a long list of well documented points relating to the book of The Other Boleyn Girl rather than just the age. My only historical complaint was in this version what appeared to be constantly referring to Henry VIII as "your grace". This is historically inaccurate and I can only imagine put as an "in context" educator.

No what I meant was putting in a dullard as Anne Boleyn, having Mary cast as the sexy one and trying to tone it down by acting out of it, having Thomas Boleyn being a duddering cautious idiot and George Boleyn as some hot looking semi-popular brother.

Zombie Strippers - 7/10

The title says it all. Very cheesy flic, plenty of gore for horror fans. Robert Englund was great. Plus it had zombie strippers :D

The Salena Incident: Imagine a sci-fi porno, without the actual porn - it's that bad. Being made in 2005, yet having effects & creatures that look like they've escaped from a Dr Who episode from the 1980s doesn't help either. 2/10

Disorderlies: Classic comedy. 6/10

Big Momma's House: Funny in places, not bad. 6/10

Trial by Combat: A bit daft, but could be worse considering its age. 5/10

George of the Jungle: 8/10

Blue Smoke: Okay as made-for-TV movies go; only watched it because it had Alicia Witt in it. :naughty: 6.5/10

A Beautiful Mind: A bit long, & not what I'd normally go for, but I'd heard it was good & it was. 7/10

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan: Quite possibly the silliest & funniest movie I've ever seen. 10/10

Happy Gilmore: Great film. :tu: 8/10

Knight Rider 2010: The IMDB page says it's "Loosely based on the popular television series of the 80's". If by "loosely based on" they're referring to the fact that it has cars in it, & 1 of them eventually gets upgraded to the point where it can talk & drive itself [more than half-way through the film], then I suppose that's not a complete lie. There is, however, no mention of any characters from either the original series, TKR, or even the film; not even KITT. 3/10

The Day the Earth Stood Still: Nice effects, but disappointing otherwise. 6/10

Underworld, Rise of the Lycans 8/10 but no Kate Beckinsale aside from a moment at the end.

Taken, 8/10 well worth a watch, a bit slow to start but flows quite well when the action starts, has some similarities to Hostel (kidnap\sale etc) Liam Neeson plays his part well, there is no complexity to the main character played by Neeson he is what it says on the tin, ex SAS who goes to save his daughter who is kidnaped and put up for sale in Paris.
