Just a pity that United's players couldn't shoot like N'zonsi, at least three clear cut chances blazed over or wide. I was right behind his shot, it was a ripper.
Nearly blew it in the end as Stoke put Crouch on and fired everything at him.

I was mistaken regarding Wengers contract. He has 2 more seasons not just 1 to go. Will it just be minus 2 players when his time comes to an end or will Arsenal act while they have the chance!

Can't remember him ever being dropped below CM. He has to be CM or behind the strikers or it's a giant waste. He's the go to guy for the killer ball or a shot from the outside. We always had tiote in DM with Ben Arfa out right and Gouffran or Jonas on the left. Pretty much a 4-4-2 diamond wherever possible.

Re: Football Season 2014/15

No it isn't. He has just been given a new contract. He has finished top four every season and won the FA Cup last year. If we pull enough results together then this 'crisis' will disappear just like the others ones did.

Everyone reacts to the immediate. Every week someone is in a crisis. The truth is if Arsenal qualify for the Champions League again then Wenger's position is secure.

He might go but things will have to get worse yet.

But the fans still turn up, they'll be placated by wins and as long as we make the Champions League the board are obviously content. They make the decision.

Ask yourself how much do the board want to take from the fans? Money, emotional/mental stability, it has even got physical between the fans. Its a pee take. They are draining the fanbase and its totally wrong. Arsenal fans gave nothing but support and positivity to breed success when the stadium was being built and thereafter repaying. Its toxic in the stands because the fans are waiting for a return for the loyalty they have shown. How can the club continue to ask the fans to drain themselves. Its disgusting.

I was saying Wenger is riding out his luck. Its the board now.

And they don't care because the fans aren't using the only power they have over them - to withhold their money. Other than getting people in the stadium and buying shirts football clubs don't care about the fans. It's their club.

There is no real fan power other than just don't turn up, empty stadium. Ticket sales will always be there. Has the waiting list for season tickets got any smaller?

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Good article here about Wenger: http://www.theguardian.com/football/...nal-fans-media

Quote:

In this regard Arsenal are a genuinely interesting case study. What exactly is it, in any case, that Wenger is supposed to have been out there winning over the last eight years of cautious financial management? More Carling Cups? More player of the months? Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, all of whom have billionaire-backed spending power, have divvied up the league between them in that time. Similarly since Liverpool in 2005 only Barcelona, United, Milan, Internazionale, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have won the Champions League, with only Inter, arguably, bucking the era of the super-spenders of the modern game.

When it comes to measuring whether that recent period of trophy-less stasis was one of success or stagnation Tottenham Hotspur are probably the correct point of comparison: the north London club of similar means who did not go ahead and build that new stadium. In this light the biggest problem at Arsenal looks to be not a lack of relative success but the simple monotony of that sustained, fixed-gear commendable achievement. The issue here is not misspent resources or opportunities missed. It is simply the fact that sustained mid-range relative achievement is boring. An ingrained cash-driven hierarchy is boring. The same few teams winning trophies every year is boring. Elite level modern football is, from a certain competitive angle, inescapably boring.

p45 for Brendan soon I think

Indeed the buck stops at the top and at the moment Liverpool are playing rubbish and the ultimate responsibility for that lies with the manager at the end of the day.

whats your gripe with Wenger... can you think of any other manager that has done a lot with the team with not a lot of funds to buy the players?

Arsene Wenger has done some remarkable things in the past. I'm not going to dwell on them. Right now he's not achieving much. Do you know Arsenals wage bill? Do you know how far up it is in the league compared to other wage bills? Do you know Arsenal could spend more in transfer windows but don't because its kept for a BIG emergency.. you know like may be Reus will say yes to Arsenal.

My gripe with Wenger is he has neglected the squad for years. He hasn't always been cash strapped. He just feels what he has is enough. When he speaks of Chelsea etc. he goes to extremes. There is a middle road which could be taken. It doesn't stop there though. Not only has he neglected the squad personnel wise but tactically the squad have looked clueless far too many times. I'm not trying to paint Wenger as the devil here. He is still one of thee best managers around in the world. I just expect more where achievable.

This Arsenal squad is strong. It is though a couple players short. Year in, year out this happens. Its not down to funds available.

Arsenal needs change when Wenger goes. Not the same. A fighter like Diego Simeone would freshen the place up. He has worked under constraints in La Liga. I'd get him to start learning English sharpish.

This season is imploding which is becoming very reminiscent of Man Utd's awful season last year.
