Probably because Virgin Media carry nearly every Discovery Network channel (I think we are missing some timeshifts) so I imagine they get some subsidized deal for Discovery HD.

ESPN on the other hand gives a large chunk of VM customers its channels for free so its not going to take less money than its asking for this is it?

Do you know how little that is costing ESPN in comparison to Virgin Media? VM have probably lost more customers this year than Smallworld have had on their books ever.

I am getting totally fed up to the back teeth with all this crap coming from VM over channels, locked in talks with relevant companies etc.

It is always the same, l was planning on going over fully to VM with sports etc, but they cannot guarantee the red button and removing channels and keeping us customers in the dark over Atlantic and Premier Sports, these are what customers are calling for and all VM are saying is that 'we are in talks' as with ITV, having talks, talks,

Its about time VM, Niell Berkett, got off there backside and sorted this problem out.

I have read on this forum where customers are leaving VM for that reason.

But Arthur, you have both Sky and VM TV - if you are that upset, why don't you bin VM?

The customer difference is like comparing Tesco to your local independent green grocers in the way that there isn't a comparison, so one shouldn't be made.

We've been offered SS1 & 2 in HD, as well as Movies....but not SS 3, 4 or News yet. So am just weighing up whether people will pay £10 a month for that, given that there is a set-up cost of several 10,000's in kit and other cost.

I'd rather have Universal HD, or even the CBS Channels. :)

The channels have incentive to be on a free platform because the advertisers are happy with it.

They have to negotiate with VM because they will presumably want to be on a good enough package that they get some money out of being on VM.

Then Sky can afford to spend more on channels so negotiations are quicker.

They are on Satellite FTA , so no Sky subscription needed.

You don't need a sky sub to watch the CBS channels they're free to air.

Maximum agree. I'd love Discovery HD, or any other predominantly nature-based channel which plays David Attenborough documentaries that show off the vibrant colours, sharp focus and striking sound of 720p/1080i 5.1 material.

Last thing I want is VM TiVo PVR on one HDMI, and a Humax FoxSat PVR on another just because the TiVo doesn't pick up the free channels. With my 1080p PC connection I'm out of slots to plug the PS3 into!

LOL, same here! Would have given it 6 thumbs down if I could. :D

The daft thing is, I've set up Wishlists for content which I eventually discovered is only on the CBS channels :erm:. I too was seriously thinking about getting Freesat.

Wow, a lot of people here who don't care that some (i.e. 11 million people each week) people like The X Factor.

I wasn't suggesting ITV2 HD merely for The X Factor USA as it has other great shows like Celebrity Juice and The Xtra Factor. I've been wanting it since it launched and I was surprised it has taken so long for VM to get the ITV HD channels since they are a large broadcaster that isn't sort of against them (like Sky), and even took a large share in former NTL a few years ago.

I've already explained why Virgin Media don't have it to which you replied Smallworld have ESPN for free which has since been proven incorrect.

You undoubtedly don't even watch the best part of these channels (unless your unemployed, rarely sleep and have a social life similar to my own) so why are you even taking the effort to moan and email executives about channels?

If you do on the off chance (about 5,000,000 to 1) get some previously unheard information people aren't go to start worshipping you y'know?

They may wait until Dave HD and Watch HD launch on Sky to launch all of them.

But the tests I seen for Yesterday +1 has EPG working with Series Links from Tuesday September 27th.
