Probably because Virgin Media carry nearly every Discovery Network channel (I think we are missing some timeshifts) so I imagine they get some subsidized deal for Discovery HD.

ESPN on the other hand gives a large chunk of VM customers its channels for free so its not going to take less money than its asking for this is it?

Do you know how little that is costing ESPN in comparison to Virgin Media? VM have probably lost more customers this year than Smallworld have had on their books ever.

The point is why have Virgin Media not got ESPN America HD ? and Smallworld have also got all ESPN channels included in their Ultimate TV pack ? How can a small cable company get ESPN America HD and virgin media can't get it ?

As far as I can see Smallworld only have BBC One HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD, Channel 4 HD, FX HD, ESPN HD and ESPN America HD.

The channels have incentive to be on a free platform because the advertisers are happy with it.

They have to negotiate with VM because they will presumably want to be on a good enough package that they get some money out of being on VM.

Then Sky can afford to spend more on channels so negotiations are quicker.

I think I've never been as happy to have a thumbs down function as I was when I used all three on The X-Factor. :D

Maximum agree. I'd love Discovery HD, or any other predominantly nature-based channel which plays David Attenborough documentaries that show off the vibrant colours, sharp focus and striking sound of 720p/1080i 5.1 material.

Last thing I want is VM TiVo PVR on one HDMI, and a Humax FoxSat PVR on another just because the TiVo doesn't pick up the free channels. With my 1080p PC connection I'm out of slots to plug the PS3 into!

The daft thing is, I've set up Wishlists for content which I eventually discovered is only on the CBS channels :erm:. I too was seriously thinking about getting Freesat.

Wow, a lot of people here who don't care that some (i.e. 11 million people each week) people like The X Factor.

I wasn't suggesting ITV2 HD merely for The X Factor USA as it has other great shows like Celebrity Juice and The Xtra Factor. I've been wanting it since it launched and I was surprised it has taken so long for VM to get the ITV HD channels since they are a large broadcaster that isn't sort of against them (like Sky), and even took a large share in former NTL a few years ago.

But do not what Virgin are set to launch bar the new UKTV channels as well as Sky Movies Classic HD.

They may wait until Dave HD and Watch HD launch on Sky to launch all of them.

But the tests I seen for Yesterday +1 has EPG working with Series Links from Tuesday September 27th.

The only thing I have seen on Disney on Virgin is an rumour weeks ago that Disney have offers Virgin they Disney XD HD Channel but Virgin also want Disney HD for the same money.

Maribor vs Birmingham City is on ESPN Classic on channel 533 Kick off 6.00PM heard it get mentioned during the Stoke vs Man Utd game yesterday on ESPN HD. Is this the start of ESPN classic changing it's name to ESPN 2 ? it says the game is in HD ? could ESPN Classic HD/ESPN2 HD launch next week. It says There is programmes in HD from monday

Good news for you HD Boy my Virgin Tester has told me today the following channels IS testing on their box:

Watch HD
Sky (Movies) Classics HD
Good Food HD
Dave HD

But they cant see the rest of them testing.

Yes l cannot see ESPN Classic being taken off or replaced as this is quite a popular little channel that many like to watch.
