It's been a thoroughly disingenuous campaign on his behalf and I expected far more than that. Just goes to show how wrong you can be eh but then, the global forces lined up to push us to stay are powerful and politicians always like to be on the winning side even if it means lying through their teeth. There'll be plenty of jobs for them within the old boys network. The sight of Obama telling the UK we'd be at the back of the queue tells you all you need to know about how the US views the UK. It ought to be a lesson learned for the next time the Americans come looking for us to support them. Given the economic world we live in it's no surprise to me that other countries with whom we compete might gives us the advice that's best for them and not necessarily us... ---------- Post added at 08:32 ---------- Previous post was at 08:19 ---------- Quote:

re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Another thing I worry about with a remain vote,
When this government recently decided to try and change/cut working tax credits/inwork tax credits the PEOPLE OF BRITAIN stood up and said no so changes were scrapped. In years to come will the EU have a say over our benefit system that means even if the people of Britain say NO! to benefit/NHS changes will the power of the EU mean our government is powerless to listen? Will we need to run it past all member states? Atleast if we're out we can pressure our own elected leaders do what the people want. I'm not sure sure this will be possible in the future. I see why the many many famous millionaires and millionaire business leaders want us to remain, I just don't see Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms average would want to? |
re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Why would the EU suddenly have a say in something like that when they haven't before?
The EU don't interfere with everything you know. |
re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Encouraging reports of high turnout, already queues at many London polling stations anyway

Your best guide to how the markets are reacting is probably this. As good a guide as any to the polls is: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2016/06/3.png The chance of leaving peaked at ~40%. It's now down at 25%. |
re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
We voted first thing this morning for leave. I'm glad in some way that there were no party hacks at the polling station as I would have given them the first degree on how appaling this campaign has been on both sides with stupid lies and deceit at every opportunity.

re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Today we’ve got a big decision to make - do we stay or do we leave the EU? No matter how you plan to vote, we all have one thing in common: we’re deciding the UK's future together. Every single one of us gets a say. There's no safe seats, no wasted votes.

re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
He's made himself look inept and duplicitous. From the point at which he came back from his EU 'negotiations' with sweet FA, he's basically gone back on what he said and changed tack from 'the UK could thrive outside the EU' to 'the UK will implode if we leave'.
Behave. Stop using such big words at this time of the day LOL. |
re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Just hope a lot of people read the front page of the Daily Mail before voting as if it is true there is still a chance to sway potential Remain voters to vote "Leave".
I feel sorry for all the postal voters who voted early on the basis of what was said only to discover that this morning a lot of it was lies. |
re: [Update] The UK votes to leave the EU
Oh I don't know...Pierre.
The president of the USA getting involved in our affairs. standing on our soil on live tv threatening the UK population on our future with the USA. While our leader backs him up, the whole Turkey agreement fast tracking, not fast tracking, even Turkey are like WTF is going on. The whole EU deal he didn't get. How the EU as a whole now view the UK because he's caused political in fighting. he's turned the UK population in on itself. He said he would back the UK on leaving if he didn't get what he wanted from the EU. He came back with nothing but still decided to be in the old boys club going back on his word to the UK people and making himself and the UK look like an idiot. Even the IN voters giving 2 fingers to the fishermen of this country that have lost jobs and business. It would have been better to have had a lie detector test attached to him when he was speaking to the audience it probably would have crashed out from being overworked. |
