It's a basic channel the same as Sky Arts 1 and 2 HD and Sky1 HD
http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/entertain...entertainment/

But it is not a basic channel on Virgin, the only way sky have let virgin have it is if you subscribe to the Sky sports package, it was taken off freeview and therefore is no longer classed as a basic channel. When the deal was done with sky they with held Sky sports news HD as well as sports 3 and 4 hd. And of course its in the XL package.

Virgin Media could have any Sky Basic HD channels for a incremental wholesale fee.

You know what I think anything is possible with SKY and Virgin these days. Someone posted a link to an interview with Cindy Rose who referred to SKY and other competitors as "frenemies".

There are suggestions on other forums that SKY might be considering allowing their customers to use other ISP's to deliver SKY Anytime, especially with Anytime arriving on Virgin Media. Do you think Virgin could get access to SKY Atlantic HD, SKY Sports 3 & 4 HD, SKY Sports News HD and SKY News HD if they offer SKY a preferential deal to offer broadband to their customers? The deal would be similar as to how SKY channels are delivered to Virgin customers. Virgin customers are not SKY customers, it's Virgin themselves who are the customer of SKY. So SKY customers taking Virgin broadband via SKY, would still be getting the service from SKY but SKY would be the customer of Virgin. Does this make sense?

In the future, we may offer access to Sky Anytime+ through other ISPs, so long as we can guarantee the high quality of the experience, free from issues such as video buffering.

In all seriousness though Chad , this will never happen as each company needs a unique selling point , VM's is their broadband speeds and TIVO and Skys is their vast range of linear channels (both SD and HD).

The main issue here is that if you want fast broadband, decent VOD and a decent choice of channels it is not possible!

Virgin offer great broadband and VOD but sub-standard TV Channel choice

Sky offers Great TV Channel choice, OK VOD (for broadband customers only), but slow broadband!

Sub-standard TV channel choice, I can't agree with that. Other than SKY Atlantic, a few CBS channels, a few music channels, a few news channels I'd say Virgin carry 99% of the most popular and wost watched channels in the UK. I'd say they more than make up for some of the missing channels with their On Demand content.

Virgin certainly have a better TV offering than Freeview, Freesat, BT Vision and Top Up TV.

I actually joined SKY last week but then cancelled at the last minute. When I took everything into consideration, nobody can beat Virgin for all round quality. Excellent broadband, excellent VOD and a very good TV service.
