If 1700 arrested i wonder how many were on the protests.

This reminds me of the old Russian joke "A small group of dozens of counter-revolutionary protesters turned up to a demonstration today in Red Square - over a thousand people were arrested".

This may end up doing everyone else and the Russian people a favour the damage to Putin is escalating and there is a real chance this may bring him down especially if the conflict drags on and Russian casualties keep rising.

Morale is apparently low amongst Russian troops. Hopefully, this whole thing just costs Russia and Putin so much it also weakens his position.

LATEST: Ukraine President Zelenskiy goes on tv to say he’s staying in Kyiv. Remarkable show of defiance.

My goodness, I’m actually in agreement with what Donald Tusk (Former President of European Council) has had to say about those EU nations which blocked a decision to kick Russia out of SWIFT payment system.

In this war everything is real: Putin’s madness and cruelty, Ukrainian victims, bombs falling on Kyiv. Only your sanctions are pretended. Those EU government’s, which blocked tough decisions (i.a. Germany, Hungary, Italy) have disgraced themselves.

Just Now - Russian foreign minister Lavrov: Russia intends to free Ukraine from oppression. Kremlin will retaliate against western restrictions (sanctions) which they haven’t yet analysed.

Good to see firm action being taken here.

11 Labour MPs face suspension for signing Stop The War letter attacking NATO

Labour MPs who signed a letter slamming NATO and accusing the UK of "sabre rattling" over Ukraine face suspension unless they immediately withdraw support for it, the Mirror understands.

Some 11 Labour MPs signed the open letter by the Stop The War Coalition, which questions NATO's legitimacy and accuses the defensive alliance of "eastward expansion".

It also accuses the UK Government of having "no proposals for a diplomatic solution to the crisis" and says "Britain needs to change its policy, and start working for peace, not confrontation".

It comes as Russian troops advance towards Ukraine's capital of Kiev and news came that Moscow forces had taken the former nuclear plant of Chernobyl.

A Labour source told the Mirror: “You can be a mouthpiece for the Kremlin or a Labour MP. But not both.”

The letter was signed before hostilities started and they've already withdrawn their signatures, other than that though, completely up to date article
