Well exaclty. we dont get snow in this part of the country..

Err, not necessarily...!

When I first came to Portsmouth back in 1984 I remember the weather forecast predicting snow and my landlord loftily saying "Oh, we don't get snow in Portsmouth because of Portsdown Hill."

The next night there was about four inches lying over the city prompting me to ask "So what's this? Heavy frost...?!" :D

That's Pompey..not Lee-on-Solent.I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times it has snowed more than 6 cms here since 1966.:)

Most likely due to the high salt content of the air, or because the weather just doesn't like Lee-on-Solent and you're just not good enough for snow ;)

I think it's because the Isle of Wight and Portsdown Hill seem to offer some sort of geological buffer or warmer area that prevents snow clouds from dumping on us.

Well just travelled home ... Teesside from Lowestoft ( Great Yarmouth ) saw a splattering on the way, nothing really, there was a covering in Lowestoft as we left about 23.45.
