Sadly, there's been more than one case of that on here.

It isn't just Cable Forum members or non disabled people that troll though.

There's a programme with a disability slant on Channel 4 called 'The Last Leg'.

One of the disabled side presenters has been trolling folk who criticise him in any way. The abuse has included swearing, rudeness and personal insults about people's appearance (a tad dissapointing coming from someone born with missing and deformed limbs).

Anybody who complained was subject to extremely big headed, arrogant and vile remarks. I can only assume that it's something to do with the 'oppressed oppress' syndrome.

Afterwards, the remarks were withdrawn- so he's a coward as well as an internet bully.

Russ has said that someone has been doing something similar on here with the comments field on the reputation system- another reason why I have it switched off.

It's a funny old world.

Wonder what's next.

Right now I still feel like popping to pound land to get a junior hacksaw and deal with it myself.

Skype.
For some reason or other ("security") they have blocked my account so I can't use it.
The account unblocking process is ridiculous. Questions range from the reasonable "what credit card did you last use to purchase credit?" & "list 3 contacts" to the ridiculous "what month and year did you first use skype?" and what email address did you use when you originally signed up?"
So far they are refusing to unblock my account and are suggesting that I sign up again.........I'm thinking so that they can simply block my access and purchased credit again?! :dozey:

<FirstWorldProblems>

You go looking on YouTube for instructions or directions on how to do or achieve something which in theory should only take about 20 or 30 seconds of explaining yet all you can find are clips of about 5 or 6 minutes long where someone has decided they're a professional presenter and spend 90% of the clip explaining what the problem is that you're trying to solve, what alternatives you could try, why it's done this way and what else you can do as well.

Ok I get that some people may have no idea what they're doing and appreciate the extra pointers but if the task you're trying to research is fairly technical then perhaps someone who needs all the fluffy extra garnishing of information might ought to avoid trying it in the first place.

At the very least these self-appointed YouTube 'broadcasters' could offer a link to a direct, stripped-down and straight-to-the-point alternative, or even something in the title that tells you at which time frame the actual instructions begin.

Mobile technology is a great thing but frankly and alarming number of people treat their phones as if they're life support machines. Maybe that's because they are in a way...

Killing lamp seems to have got rid of most of them now. How I relish that "crack" noise as yet another bites the dust.:)

Cheapie from Lidl's but does the job. Has a proper UV tube in it as well.

You should change those UV lamps every 12 months so as to keep the output wavelength of tyhe lamp optimal to kill more of them ;)

Yes I think you're right and of course the knock on effects will be considerable as other procedures, tests etc. have to be rescheduled, repeated or whatever. It must cost the NHS ££££'s.

Still there are people far worse off than me...

A cancellation got my mum her operation, sadly 11 weeks on and she's still a 2 hour+ journey away :(

We tried to get her closer to home as she is in a room on her own and next to no people see here, but the ball started to roll to get her transferred to pur local hospital when she had a infection that had loads of puss:sick:

So that move is on hold, but we are taking in food (she's not to keen on their food) that can be cooked in hospital as the nurse said "as long as it is something she can eat, bring it in"

I honestly wonder if the people cancelling these ops/clinics think about the hardship patients go through. In some cases, they have a phobia and get built up to having it done for it to be cancelled. Good luck dilli and Jo. And dilli, if I could I'd take a night in hospital to perv over, er sorry be looked after by, the female nurses.

Commiserations on all the hospital issues Dilli and Jo - and anyone else for that matter!

Yesterday I got my new appointment for surgery in a month's time, just when we're supposed to be away for an educational assessment for Osem Jnr #2. I'd feel less anxious about trying the change the assessment (if that's even possible at this stage) if there was any guarantee I won't be getting another last minute call cancelling my op! Grrr...

Thanks. I have contacted her about our situation already and when the last date was cancelled I explained to them the situation we're in. I also put my name down for a cancellation but I need to have a blood test 2-4 days prior to surgery and would need time to have that done. I'm going to contact the college and the hospital this morning to see if we can work something out.

My pre-assessment was done mid August and its 3 month duration runs out mid November so putting the date back even further runs the risk that I'll need to have all that done again too... :spin:

Thanks for the good wishes guys. Yes all very stressful - spent most of the day trying to sort out carers to help look after my mum and clearing out tons of stuff my dad's accumulated over the years since they downsized. He seems positive enough but some stuff he said to me yesterday makes me think he feels it's his time. His main concern is what'll happen to mum because we can't look after her so if she can't cope at home with help she'll have to go into a home and I know he'd hate that thought.

Trying to pay our council tax at the moment but the on-line page(s) are down. They say they're working on it. Don't want to have to do it by phone. I hate phones. Work of the devil. :(

Why don't you pay by Direct Debit heero.

Direct Debit is always the best way if you have the funds.

Funds are not always in the specific bank account. Especially if I'm not got a BB connection to be able to transfer them. You also get a few days grace before they get nasty.

Why not the local post office?
[Being a recycled teenager I pay in as and when I get my pension]

Drivers who don't put lights on around sunset.

I could retire on the number I saw to night.

Life being complicated. I told someone who made a hideous lie about someone in their family that I never wanted to speak to them again, and they got in touch yesterday begging me to forgive them the lie.

Trouble is, the lie was so massive that I cannot forgive the lie. Or forget it. And now I am getting abuse from them because I don't care about them. Er, bit hard to care about someone who makes up lies to get sympathy from others. I just feel like going outside and screaming for a while.

.....

I did have a little bit of a moan / hate

I lost 8kilios last month and the hospital were not happy about that so they have put me on fortisip as a supplement.

It's not like I'm skinny or anything. I'm definitely overweight.

My old man was discharged Friday lunchtime and readmitted in severe pain about 5 hours later. He's still there... Waste of time!

Sorry to hear about your Dad Osem but it staggers me why he was discharged in the first place as l have heard that there are many patients which are readmitted when they not well enough to go home in the first place but were discharged because they needed the bed.

That is shocking Osem, best wishes and hugs to your Dad and family.

My moan today is Mother's who swear in front of their children. When I was in my local Asda today I witnessed an shouting match between a woman and an man. The man was not saying much but the woman was shouting and swearing I've got my effing kids in the car you bleep bleep bleep and I just thought what a good example you are to your young children. 1 it's okay to swear and 2 have no self respect

Even at my surgery this morning somebody swore and then there were others using their smartphones.:(

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Thanks for the kind words guys. :)

As for the obsession with phones, the way some people behave it won't be long before the NHS will be having to spend millions on surgical smartphone removals. These people rely on them almost as if they're flipping life support machines...

The company I work for sucks.

Not only do we get 20 days usable holiday, the other 8 are bank holidays. plus you get an extra day every 3 year (up to 5 extra day max).

The boss has decided to close the canteen so no hot food or drinks will be served.

The sooner I get out of this Hite Shole the better.

Am I in the wrong to be cross when someone has a go at me for not replying to a text message instantly but it is OK for that person to go days before replying to me? Sadly this is a relative who I actually like so don't want to rock the boat by saying anything.

My sister moans at me for not answering texts/calls, and yet does exactly the same, I just laugh it off.
