I still think when Sky and Virgin do sign an new carriage agreement (it not if but when) I really do think Sky will axe Sky2 again so that Sky Bravo can use both Sky2 channel numbers on Sky and Virgin from launch.

Sky Bravo HD may also launch - But can only see it being an Sky Exclusive.

I agree den as I kinda thought this is how it would play out a couple of months ago (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35...-post1270.html) although I was wrong about BT Sports being a premium channel!

Again, completely agree vince, I think Sky realise that VM should be an ally not the opposition (which is now BT) as VM will never challenge them for content and anything that Sky allow VM to have will make Sky money.

I also agree with posters on here that there is going to be massive changes in TV consumption in the years ahead with the growing popularity of On Demand and IPTV options.

Just had a thought, since Freeview does something similar;
Wouldn't it have been logical if HD channels was a 4 digit number keeping the original 3 digits intact. ('1'+'[channel number]');

e.g. BBC One HD would be 1101
MTV HD would be 1134
Film 4 HD would be 1429
and so on...

This would also mean:
- Freeing up space in the EPG for other channels
- Allowing easy transition of everything to HD when equipment allows

Maybe I've had a few too many pints today, but I'd like to know your opinions :-)

They do like their HD exclusives but I would think, in this case, it would largely depend on what content they have lined up for the channel. If it is just general entertainment skewed to a male audience, it might not be attractive enough to use as a USP. From what has been said so far, it looks as if they need the VM audience to make launching the channel worthwhile. The same could apply to the HD version.

My reading of the situation is that we will get all the missing Sky channels in September as a result of the recent deals with Sky.

I know it sounds too good to be true, but just wait and see!! Not long now.

HI what do you think about plus 1 channels be add the one we are missing?

my suggestion if we have the main channel we should get the plus 1 throw in.

example sony tv with have but not te plus 1.

i find the are very helpfuly so i would like more of them to appear.

It wouldnt work that way.

Say Virgin give Broadcaster A the option of 10p per subscriber a month for Channel A. But Broadcaster A says "we will only give it you if you give if you give us an extra 5p per subscriber per month and we will throw in the +1".

If Virgin turn round and say no then Broadcaster A has lost 10p per subscriber per month (which is a lot considering there are 4million subscribers with some form of TV product).

Ofcom wont get involved, there isnt any need to, its not making it bad for consumers

Got to say I almost came back to Virgin from the dark side, handed in my notice but they got me at the last hour with half price for 12 months again! But gotta say Virgins channel additions have been totally unprecedented in last 12 months!!! From when I used to have Virgin we were lucky to get any new channels for months at a time!!

Had a spare half hour, thought I would show you what I have gained! from virgin to sky, have to admit out of all of these I probably only watch about a dozen of these! I haven't included the sky box office channels as there is no need, plus there are some promotional channels they offer which are on a loop, oh and a audio channel for the channel numbers. One other useful thing they offer is all of the bbc regions. which i've left off this list too, hope someone finds it interesting.

Sky are regulated , unlike VM they are an open platform any broadcaster can launch a channel so long as they pay the relevant charges.

Does anyone know when the CSC Media deal is up for renewal as I would love their music channels on Virgin Media. At the moment I think the music channel offering is lacking and I don't use Music On Demand as I don't wish to think about what I want to watch I'd rather have a channel choose for me! Very lazy I know haha. Also I think there is very limited choice of music on there, especially older songs.

Right, who is willing to be the first in line to be sacrificed? Not in a happy mood, and that was before I found no new channels on my TiVo. Or apps for that matter.
