Re: The Xbox One Thread
I think it's something like "Xbox, watch <full channel name>"
Planner control... I think that bit needs a SmartGlass update. The current SmartGlass has basic play/pause/F/R PVR controls, but I had an XBL message this morning saying that a preview version of SmartGlass is available (links in the preview forums) for Windows/Android... I guess that will be the version that adds the OneGuide and additional PVR controls. Although as I'm on iOS I guess I'll have to wait for the public release :( |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Right now I don't believe "Xbox, watch channel" works. The post about this going live says this:

Re: The Xbox One Thread
When watching TV you can go to a channel by saying Xbox watch (Channel Name). It works for me. Only channels that are in your favorites will work thou. Also the new SmartGlass beta app is in Play store for Android devices. Also in Windows store for Surface. Not available for iOS yet thou. I like the new beta SmartGlass. Can change channels via the One Guide on it oh and it now allows you to rearrange your Pins however you want them and it updates it to your Xbox One as well

Re: The Xbox One Thread
RUMOUR
Someone on the Plex forums has claimed that he has been granted membership of ID@Xbox *specifically* to develop a Plex app for the Xbox One. He is *not* a member of the Plex dev team, nor any other kind of Plex employee. *If* the Xbox One were to gain a Plex client, it would mean that people could finally enjoy "pull" streaming like on the 360 and PS3, instead of being limited to the current crappy "push" streaming. https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/top...x-one-is-a-go/ |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
This was also mentioned on Engadget.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Yeah, I've seen that. I've not seen any other remotely decent site report on it, though. I only found out yesterday 'cos someone on DS mentioned it, so I Googled and found mention on Reddit that linked to the Plex forum thread.
Not sure if other sites just haven't bothered yet as it's the weekend, or if they're avoiding it because it's all currently rumour based upon someone making claims on a forum. |

http://portforward.com/ Follow the instructions from the link above and be sure to set up static ip to the Xbox. It may be worth checking the DHCP list of the router first to get the Mac and IP address of the XBone. 1. In Brown writing near the top of the page pick the one that applies (How to port forward the Xbox one) your console. 2. Then pick your router from the list, Supper hub one and two are made by Netgear. Then scroll down and pick Virgin_Media_Super_Hub_2 from the list. 3. Follow the instructions on how to set static IP and what ports need to be opened for your make of router. 4. Power down the router and Xbox for a minute and then do a multi player network test in settings on XBone. (Nat Open?) I did read that for call of duty ghosts you may also need port 3075 to be forwarded. This may well be linked only to people that also have a 360 on their network? Also I have had a problem with XBone mic not working due to the way the kinect associates which profile to who is holding the controller. So you can try turning off Kinect, or before loading your game select settings then kinect. Here you can see yourself with your profile name above your head. Do you see a controller next to your profile name? If not make sure kinect can see the lights on the front of the controller and press a button. Now you should see a little controller by your name. I have been drinking so am struggling, I will check back tomorrow. |

Setting a static ip address to your console is like telling your gaming department not to ever change rooms in the building as you are about to tell the bouncer to send gaming friends to this room only. Putting your console in a DMZ is like opening a fire door to your gaming department so all can come and go to that particular room (ip address) with no bouncer, but locking the internal door to the rest of the building. Example stopping the console from using Xbox smart glass on a tablet or phone, think of each device being a different department with the ip address being the door number of that particular department. With UPnP turned on you also have a third bouncer telling Nat who can come and go? Things at the door are now becoming slow and complicated with Nat allowing friend to come and go but then firewall stopping them making mistakes and slowing the process turning away friends. Opening up your ports is telling Nat to let friends in and out no questions asked to a particular department only( xbox Static ip). So sack Firewall and UPnP. manually give rules to NAT ( opening up ports). And things will improve at the door! Remember to always power down the router after saving new settings. In fact power all internet devices including Xbox for a minute. After reading everything on the net about which ports to open and trying many configurations just follow the instructions for your make and model as all routers are different, the guys at portforrward have already done the hard work. |

It's a bit of fun but I really struggled with the kinect in my small room. Kinect 2.0 is better width wise but when doing the rock climbing, it just cant see my feet and arms at the same time :(
If you play on your own I wouldn't bother. If you play with mates or family then I can see it being a good bit of fun. £50 though is a lot for a game you will just pick up now and then and not really put hours of gameplay into. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I have just worked out how to share digital games as there is 2 xboxones in my house, mine and my sons, so instead of buying two copies of a game disc i can now download a game and share it with my son, so we can both play online at same time.
You can share downloaded games with one other person. No wonder digital games are more expensive. Think this will now save me a small fortune :) ---------- Post added at 16:09 ---------- Previous post was at 15:58 ---------- Two users, two consoles So a single console with multiple users is pretty straightforward. But with multiple consoles, things get a bit more hairy. For starters, you need to deal with an Xbox One feature called "home Xbox," where each user that is signed in to an Xbox One must have one console that is configured as their home Xbox. (If you only have one Xbox One, then that will be the home Xbox for all configured users.) When you configure a console as your home Xbox, any user that signs in to that Xbox One can play any of your downloaded games without having to first sign in as you. Read that one again, because it's important: When you configure a console as your home Xbox, any user that signs in to that Xbox One can play any of your downloaded games without having to first sign in as you. That means that the converse is also true: On a non-home Xbox One, users will need to sign-in as you before they can play any of your downloaded games. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Guys, really need your help, bit of a story, and I'm not even sure you can help me, but this is my first visit and post after a Google search.
OK what it is, I'm the owner of Cranky Gamers UK gaming podcast, and I regular twitch stream, from both my Xbox One and PS4. Now here's the major problem, yesterday I finally upgraded my Sky internet to there new self instal Fibre, with there new snazzy black box...and yup, went smooth as anything, literally unplug and replug all cables in, and withing minutes my speed had gone from an abysmal 5meg download, and 0.5 upload, to a respectable 34 download, 9 upload. So yup was well pleased, however on my first twitch stream yesterday on the PS4, it failed with an error, and upon checking I cured the problem following instructions changing the primary and secondary DNS settings on the connection to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. respectably, and sure enough..alls well worked fine. Now to the xbox one today....I will say my poor speeds prior to fiber actually wouldn't work at all, just said speeds not good enough. So couldn't wait to try my new settings....however, just would not work... and by that I mean, it started broadcasting, and even says live on the xbox one, however nothing ever appeared on my channel on twitch, cranky gamers UK. So fixes I have tried are...obvious with an xbox one, hard reset lol, then I uninstalled Twitch, reinstalled, even disconnected old xbox settings on twitch, and then even re input a new number to connect to the xbox one. So anyone any idea whats happening, just seems to me that the new Sky hub as good as it is, has thrown a spanner in the works of both consoles...working with twitch. any help much appreciated. one final thing i forgot to mention, I also changed the DNS settings on the Xbox, to the same as above..but no joy...also tried both wired and wireless connections, but still no luck. thanks for your time and patience reading this. j |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Well the price of the Xbox One is down to £309 already (£314 with Titanfall bundled). I reckon they'll drop further to about 250 ish, it has to. A kick in the teeth for the early adopters with all the problems they got with the price they paid.
Personally, I think it needs to drop a lot lower than that before I even consider getting one. And it'll be interesting to see how the PS4 prices drop but I think they will go a bit slower on price drops as it's doing better. Something has to happen soon as the XB1 is a bit of a joke as it stands, its rep has been hit hard, this thread is proof of that. For the price of the games and the hassle that comes with it I'd go as far as saying even at £199 I would still have to give it some serious thought. I'm gutted to be honest as I had high hopes for both consoles. I do think they should compensate the early adopters in some way or another. Before the release of these next gen consoles, gaming was at a high, now it seems it's taken 3 steps back. I hope PC gaming will take advantage of this but I can only hope. I know it's still early days, and I know early adopters will stand by their machines, but from someone who is watching closely to how things are going, the next gen machines aren't an option as it stands. that is for price and for being under powered. We're all waiting for the price drops (for what they are really worth) and for all the fixes to be completed (which is a joke as it stands). But ultimately I'm (and everyone else) is just seriously disappointed. |

Kinect sports rivals is currently £42.99 for the digital version, so when bought using cheap vouchers it is cost affective compared to the disc version.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Official post by Phil Spencer on the changes: http://news.xbox.com/2014/05/xbox-de...g-more-choices
All three are good decisions, although I guess this means Kinect is dead. Kinect never had much support even when *everyone* had one, so why would devs bother with it at all now? Will the UI get any kind of improvements now that MS cannot assume that everyone will just use voice commands? Bring back the Guide! How will people without Kinect record game clips? They can't do 30 second clips (at the moment) as the only way you can do that is "Xbox, record that", and they can't edit or share anyway as Upload Studio (at the moment) requires Kinect. Will we get an alternative method? It's about time that Netflix and other apps didn't need Gold. PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U, Apple TV, Roku, Smart TVs, etc. etc. etc. all do not need any kind of extra sub to use Netflix or any other app, so it was always rather greedy and cheeky that Xbox did. Games with Gold - Spartan Assault's nothing special, but Max is meant to be great. |

Halo 5: Guardians coming to Xbox One in autumn 2015. Also, in that article, 343i's Bonnie Ross mentioned at the end that our Halo journey begins *this year* with a "giant leap"... which perhaps lends support to this rumour: " 'Halo: The Master Chief Collection' coming to Xbox One this year, collects 'Halos 1-4 " Most people had been expecting Halo 2 Anniversary, given that the original was released in 2004, but to get *all four* remastered for Xbox One would be awesome! :) [if true] |
