Looking at it from a independent point of view l think Man Utd need a centre back and Midfielder at least and perhaps a experienced goalkeeper as well but somehow Ferguson gives the impression that he is not going to dip into the January transfer market.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

to be honest the performance today was the same as the past few weeks and even last season too.

We had Park in midfield, a player who offers nothing on the wing and didn't do a think in the centre. Add in Nani who should spend more time in training and learning how to pass and cross than he does on his hair.

Wellbeck isn't good enough to play upfront to using him out of position is recipe for distaster.

We don't have a big enough squad and some of our first team starters aren't good enough either.

For all the goals Hernandez gets when there is a game that requires more than just sticking the ball in the net from a few yards out he struggles and only lasted 45 mins

Luis Suarez gave "unreliable" evidence to the body that was investigating claims he racially abused Patrice Evra, according to a report published by the Football Association.
Quote:

The report says that Suarez broke Rule E3 by bringing the game into disrepute.
Quote:

The 115-page document details the conversation between the two players.

"Mr Evra was a credible witness. He gave his evidence in a calm, composed and clear way," read the report

"
Quote:

Mr Suarez's evidence was unreliable in relation to matters of critical importance. It was, in part, inconsistent with the evidence, especially the video footage.

"For example, Mr Suarez said that he pinched Mr Evra's skin in an attempt to defuse the situation. He also said that his use of the word 'negro' to address Mr Evra was conciliatory and friendly. We rejected that evidence.

"To describe his own behaviour in that way was unsustainable and simply incredible given that the players were engaged in an acrimonious argument
Quote:

Suarez was found guilty on the "balance of probability" - a lower standard than the criminal standard of "beyond all reasonable doubt".

The report added: "It is not for Mr Suarez to satisfy the commission that he did not breach the rules. Rather, it is for the FA to satisfy us to the required standard that Mr Suarez did breach the rules.

"After the referee Andre Marriner separated them, Mr Suarez said that he turned to Mr Evra and said 'Por que, negro?'

"He [Suarez] said that he used the word 'negro' at this point in the way that he did when he was growing up in Uruguay, that is as a friendly form of address to people seen as black or brown-skinned or even just black-haired.

"He [Suarez] said that he used it in the same way that he did when he spoke to Glen Johnson, the Liverpool player.

"He [Suarez] said in no way was the use of the word 'negro' intended to be offensive or to be racially offensive. It was intended as an attempt at conciliation.

"If Mr Suarez did not use the word 'negro' towards Mr Evra, then abusive or insulting words are unlikely to have been used."

Ferguson pointed to the injuries in defence that forced him to field senior players out of their usual positions.

Spurs have quite a history and were the first English side to win a European Trophy. They've also done the double a few times and had a great side in the early 60s.

Chelsea won the league a few times in the past, 55 IIRC when the FA didn't let them enter the European Cup after winning the league. More been known as a decent side that is good in the cup, until the millions from Roman came along

Spurs did the double once only, and that was fifty years ago.:p:

And Chelsea won the league once only before they became Chelski and bought their trophies.

Only Liverpool and United have had sustained levels of dominance. Arsenal seem to always be around there, popping up now and then to win titles before giving away to another era. Arsenal won the title in '89 at the end of Liverpool's dominance and before United's. We challenged United's era occasionally before Chelsea came along.

Arsenal were also good in the 30s, winning the league three years running I think.

Spurs do have 3 European Trophies to their name and 8 FA Cups so they have a lot more history than some clubs.

as expected Fulham turned up and put us under it. i wont blame it on having no proper fullbacks, that can be worked around.. what cannot be worked around is the lack of sub talent we have. rosicky is dead, needs to be shifted.. gervinho can't score to save his life.. too annoyed to go on. what i will repeat is we need Gourcuff, an available rough diamond. wrong. the cover provided in full back positions has been ok, djourou was finished and needed taking off before he got sent off. our 2 in the middle, song and arteta have a very good understanding and its been evident we're more solid with those two.

Djourou is a centre back by trade so is vulnerable in the full back position plus Coquelin went missing for the second goal and when l am talking about midfield players who don't work hard enough l am talking about two in general and they are Rosicky and Arshavin and Arteta as good as he is is no Fabregas and Song is no Vieira.

Djourou sucks, agreed. I was surprised to see Coquelin in, I honestly thought Miquel would fill the position but he wasn't half bad. we can manage, we've been able to manage.

Rosicky and Arshavin.. forget it, their completely useless who need to be sold during this window.

Arteta is no Fab agreed and Song is no Paddy but it works. Ramsey is slow, not showing some of the class he has in his locker.

Rosicky has been much better this season.

Damien please man, don't tell me your serious. ye he's done ok but he's way too slow for Arsenal. He's aged while inurjied, its unfortunate but such is life at the highest level he needs to go.

Today has made my day, Sir Alex has proved to me that no player is bigger than the club.

I refer to Baby Wayne Rooney getting into a huff over being dropped for a lack of discipline, and quite rightly he was dropped and fined.

I have said this before that it takes a big manager to drop a player who thinks people owe him something. Well done Sir Alex.

Rooney needs to toe the line the money he is on.
He has accepted a fine of £250,000, no doubt accepted via his agent's advice.
I think Rooney assumes that the club need him, although he is a decent player, he is definitely not bigger than the club.

The celebration for the first Chelsea goal today was one of the most embarrassing things i've ever seen in football...

Liverpool will not appeal against Luis Suarez's eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra, the club announced on Tuesday night.

The Uruguayan forward was handed the suspension by the Football Association on December 20, following a lengthy investigation, as well as being given a £40,000 fine, while the independent regulatory commission's 115-page report was released on New Year's Eve.

Having assessed the findings, Liverpool have notified the Football Association they will not contest the ban - which takes effect immediately, ruling him out of tonight's match against Manchester City

Yeah. The FA report was pretty detailed and convincing. They made enough bad press with that stupid t-shirt stunt and the statement. I hope they issue an official apology to Evra over that.

Brilliant. That makes the club, players and Dalglish in particular look even more stupid. I wonder if they regret the ridiculous statement they put out after the ban was announced? And the t-shirts...

You'd think that a global brand such as Liverpool FC would have issued a statement apologising for Suarez's behaviour, and taking culpability for not ensuring that their foreign players were aware of what is acceptable and unacceptable in the league they play in. They would have come out smelling better than they do!

From the wording of their statement, they are not going to be doing that...

Never rated him.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

You at least think they would apologise to Evra for their statement. Even if you buy Liverpool's defence, that he didn't mean it in a racist context, there was no way for Evra to know that. So for them to come out and attack him in a public statement was unacceptable. An apology is the minimum that can be expect from Liverpool but instead they have made themselves in victims. The FA's report doesn't seem to have humbled them other than to make them see they had nothing to appeal on.

Liverpool better not have to the audacity to walk on the pitch with those 'Kick Racism out of Football' promotions after this. They are happy to use it was a PR stunt but when it comes down for it they will attack the accuser if they feel it helps their cause.

Just can't believe the scoreline and everyone has said it all season - the better teams will punish us for failing to capitalise on our dominance and City have done that.

You've gotta laugh. kolo Toure, twaddles on the ball..gets dispossed...manages to recover for a throw..and claps his hands and shouts at others to concentrate :D

What Liverpool need is one for other players to contribute goal wise and two is for them to buy a deadly out and out goalscorer.

I think Downing is poor...he should shoot more, and I seem to remember he has a decent shot. Test the keeper, give carrol chance to pounce
