Mrs Grim has just asked me a very poignant question....

She said "Do you think HD Boy has relatives in Telford?"

I laughed so much my the mouthful of coffee I'd just taken came out of my nose :D

Cheers

Right from the 14th you have continuously posted about the UKTV HD channels and or Sky Movies Classic HD channels, do you think it's about time you gave it a rest?

Here is the proof

Quote:

Virgin Media are "talking" to all suppliers of all HD channels in the UK . I got this email 3 weeks back.

Peter chapman told someone over at Digital Spy about Sky Movies Classics HD aswell. There might more HD channels in that deal

Sky Sports News HD and Sky News HD could come to Virgin Media as part of deal to get Sky Movies Classics HD Hodgie99

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...7&postcount=15 ...

For all we know Virgin Media's deal with Sky to get Sky Movies Classics HD might include Sky News HD, Sky Sports News HD and maybe even Sky Atlantic HD

It has been given the go ahead and UKTV HD channels Now that we getting Sky Movies Classics HD then Sky News HD and Sky Sports News HD can not be far away from coming to Virgin Media (You posted this twice in 5 minutes)

4 UKTV HD channels are coming in october Alibi HD will come in 2012.

Sky Movies Classics HD and 4 UKTV HD channels is coming to Virgin Media in October Confirmed.

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...7&postcount=15
Any more times you feel the need to tell us all ?. Enough is Enough it's not even been confirmed by an Offical Virgin Media Press release.

Virgin don't always have an official release when a channel launches. BBC Alba arrived without any mention at all over at the Virgin Media Press Office. My brother didn't even know he had the channel until he found the Hearts game on Saturday, purely by accident.

I cannot understand why VM do not announce channels when they are added, surely it is bad marketing not to let your customers know what is available.:(

I've been a lurker on this thread for many many weeks now and thank Media Boy for his updates.

However just recently I have felt the sudden need and desire to register and make use of the "ignore" facility.

So a quick hello from me and just one question...anyone know when Sky Movies Classics HD is launching on VM? ;) :) ;)

Sorry serious question now - having recently had Tivo installed and realising its still in need of some updates to get rid of some bugs etc, anyone know when the update is coming and also red button facilities (especially the sky sports red button).

Thanks,

Andy.

Well l thought we were getting a update in October but it now seems to be happening a little later then that and the news about the red button is some time early next year.

Thank you both.

Apologies MB but I have to say the Movie Classic HD question was a bit of a tongue in cheek question but thanks for the info anyway.

Guess I will have to live with the Tivo bugs for now, but still glad I upgraded.....free :)

The most up to date info seems to be over at the VM Help & Support Forum http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...ia/td-p/623187. You can see the content we will be getting on the Sky Anytime + site http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/anytime-plus/whats-on/. Hope this helps. Personally, I'm looking forward to this when it eventually arrives.

While enjoying the sport of boxing if its free l will watch it but if it goes down the PPV route then many including myself will not watch it as our monthly bills are high enough as it is.

Here is more details on the new channel.

http://www.boxingscene.com/boxnation...kbuster--44071

It'll be free for the first few months and will then switch to a monthly fee of £10.00. There will be no PPV price, just a flat monthly subscription. Unfortunately the above link doesn't confirm the channel will be coming to Virgin.

I understand your stance Den and fulle expect complaints from others who do not want more pay channels. I'm a massive boxing fan and this channel, if it delivers what it promises to is a dream come true. £10.00 per month is a fair price for a dedicated boxing channel which is going to cover the best of British action and fights from around the globe.

Sky haven't produced anything yet apart from a Press Release.

The channels are possibly testing and based of the DS post require manual tuning to pick up.

That just highlights how much commercial power Sky has in the pay-TV market, i.e too much. But well done for the ingenious facts, a Sky HD channel is bound to be on the Sky TV platform first, because er, it's their channel. :dunce:

We are all aware of what HD channels Sky have anyway Virgin Media have Film4HD Sky don't.

Box Nation looks like it's coming soon. Their website has the Virgin Media logo and an article in the Sun also confirms the channel is going to be on the Virgin platform too. I was hearing the channel was discussed on TalkSport this morning and on TalkSport it was confirmed also that the channel is coming to Virgin soon. The first live event is being broadcast on the 30th September. Hopefully the channel will be available by then.

Here's a copy of the Box Nation webpage:

Here are links to the Box Nation webpage and the article in The Sun.

Maybe the channel that's been testing over the past week is Box Nation?

I just note at ''Test 43'' on Channel 890 has gone all blank.

It was working at 4pm today.

Sorry to keep going on about Box Nation however here's something else I've found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mlh2Vs_JVgc

It's footage from today's press conference to announce the launch of the channel.

1 minute 50 seconds through to 2 minutes 15 seconds confirms the launch of the channel, and that they will be making further announcements in due course regarding distribution, including with Virgin Media.

Can this be added to the coming soon list Media Boy?

Yeah I can't see anything launching today either. Far too many times I've built my hopes up based on rumours and gossip. What will be will be.

[I have no info on this only an idea but could tje delay in anytime be down to VM trying to do a deal with sky for atlantic. My reasoning behind this is when they did the premium hd channels they launched atlantic and classic movies and do they want it included in the anytime and don't want sky to say yea u can have atlantic after anytime launches, But then say u can't have it on anytime because it was not included in the anytime deal u signed. When was sky anytime coming to virgin officially announced? Would be a great addition to VOD which is pretty ropey in some areas. Seems to take an age from an announcement of something coming soon to it actually happening, see Sky arts Hd etc.:(

Virgin Media will make available through its on-demand TV service a range of content from Sky's basic and premium channels, including the newly acquired VMtv channels.
http://mediacentre.virginmedia.com/S...ution-1a1.aspx
It also taken over a year to get Sky Movies Classics HD

If Virgin have the rights to show movies etc through Sky Anytime and have secured a few new HD channels why don't they give subscribers a proposed launch date? Movies, DVD's, albums all get release dates, everything in the entertainment industry does. It's the old story Virgin just leave customers in the dark. Surely if they gave a proposed launch date it would give people an incentive to stay and not go through the hassle of changing to Sky. Really is shocking that they publicise nothing. Very poor as ever:( Or is it that the launch of these channels etc is so far away it would drive people to Sky. Certainly looks like the latter at the moment.

I don't know, maybe they have to sort out things with the content providers themselves for advertisement, pictures, metadata and the like. There's a reason its took a year since they announced they had a deal with Sky, presumably there is more red tape to get through first.

So Sky have the rights from all the production companies and content providers to put their content on demand on any platform?

Its not just sign a piece of paper and click 'go', things are significantly more complicated, especially when the whole deal rested on another deal and other terms that we will never see or hear of.

Good point , its like when a certain few on here say VM customers should be granted access to Sky Go WHY , Sky has done deals with other broadcasters to include content for its own customers both online and when away from home , its upto VM to provide its own customers with this facility , I believe they do have a VM player.

Totally agree, both companies have their own USP's and you shouldn't expect to get the same on both services.

Obviously things like Sport and Movies should be made available to all at at fair price, but the little extras shouldn't be expected.

Yes, it's possible. They have signed deals for mobile content in the past with the likes of Disney, but we never heard anything afterwards. It must be costly to do, so it got shelved?

I agree , I can personally see Sky adapting their Movies offering in the future as streaming takes off more , it could be possible to see Lovefilm , Netflix , Sky Movies apps all competing for your business on TIVO , Youview connected TVs etc.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

Well folks it was april since i last contacted vm regarding new channels,So i thought id drop em a email and my main question was why no UniversalHD and what is happening regarding Sky Atlantic. Here is my reply ----

I'm writing in regards to the email you have sent to Neil Berkett, Neil has passed your details over to me to try and resolve your issues. I'd have preferred to discuss this over the phone but I didn't have a contact number for you. I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment with our channel line up.

Virgin Media continuously reviews the content that we provide within our TV packages to best ensure that we are meeting our customer requirements. We are always reviewing channel opportunities with our channel partners, but we are unable to comment on these during negotiations. We are hoping to launch a new range of HD channels later this year but I am unable to give a specific timescale for this at present.

Overall, with our on demand programming, we believe that we have an outstanding line up of content and HD. However I appreciate there is always room for improvement.

We value your feedback and I will ensure that your comments are passed onto the correct individuals. We are unable to comment on specific channel launches, but we strive to provide a channel line up which delivers the most popular & requested channels across our customer base.

Again please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused; I trust this email answers your query.

Kind regards

Sophie Boshell

Not a mention of the channels i stated and basically the same promise i got in april,Glad there not negotiating a peace treaty between 2 fighting counties. They would all be dead by now lol

Hopefully we see ESPN America HD, ITV 2,3,4 HD and Sky Sports News HD. ESPN America HD was launched on smallworld on the 1st september

Re the Howardmicks e mail reply. If virgin secure the rights to broadcast certain channels or Sky Anytime why can't they comment:confused: Surely if the deal is done they are free to publicise. Have noticed the reply to any e mail is the usual "we look to improve but can't say" line. Makes no sense:confused:

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

Hi Howardmicks, you know the strangest thing is, that is the exact same letter, apart from the channel names that l received.

I am getting totally fed up to the back teeth with all this crap coming from VM over channels, locked in talks with relevant companies etc.

It is always the same, l was planning on going over fully to VM with sports etc, but they cannot guarantee the red button and removing channels and keeping us customers in the dark over Atlantic and Premier Sports, these are what customers are calling for and all VM are saying is that 'we are in talks' as with ITV, having talks, talks,

Its about time VM, Niell Berkett, got off there backside and sorted this problem out.

I have read on this forum where customers are leaving VM for that reason.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

Again in the reply to Howardmicks they mention their on demand and how pleased they are with it. Surely if that was gonna be further boosted by sky anytime which is according to some is confirmed, you would mention it? I strongly suspect Virgin do not have the rights to anymore than the sky living they currently carry:rolleyes:
