It has been snowing on and off all weekend here, but until last night was only sticking at heights above about 200m. Last night we had our very first dusting (we're at about 50m).

Fantastic sunny day here. :)

We could do with some rain in this part of the world however. Our local aquifer fed ponds have dried up for the first time in the 25 years we've lived here. :(

With all this snow, it will bring the best jokes around, Council will run out of grit, the railways will grind to a halt as the snow is not the right size and is causing problem's with the points.

Drivers will complain about breakdowns as batteries have gone flat overnight due to the freezing weather, transport will grind to a halt.

The temperature here in Essex dropped a lot overnight i am working nights at the moment,and went out at 3am it was cold but it did not feel as cold in the air just on the ground,but by 5am cars were frosted up that were left in the open,as usual when the bus came along on the way home it was already warm and de-frosted.!:D:D

Just a tad off topic, Riley, our rescue cat, has never had a chance to experience snow before and he is going wild. He loves water in any shape or form so is sitting in the garden staring up into the air and trying to catch the flakes as they drift down. :)

Snow has given way to light freezing rain that is just glazing the thin covering of snow. Unless the temperature rises, which I think very unlikely, it will be like a skating rink by morning. Please be careful if you need to go out tonight you guys.

Just been out in the car & the roads are VERY slippery, traction on slight inclines was difficult (Fiesta) & it didnt help having a dirty great big bus 10ft from my back end! It actually felt worse than it did when we had all that snow last time.

5 inches here in places, I know because some one very anal a desk away went out with a ruler, I regret thinking this now but when he said he was just going out side for a moment I did hope for a second it'd be a Captain Oats style moment. Chaos on the roads as usual, had to pick a work mate up a couple of hours back who'd broken down on the motorway and there were quite a few others there in a similar predicament sadly.
