I've had loads of whishlist shows record.

I was thinking the same thing, whilst i have had problems with some due to wrong info on epg some are indeed working eg psychoville hd set up perfectly and should record on thurs

Yes, for Apprentice for sure, Tivo just hasnt "found" it. As for Lady Gaga I'll check, as I set that up when I just got Tivo installed.

...just checked and no, Gaga was'nt set up to record but Apprentice is, and Dexter.

Absolutely!

I only joined the debate because as someone with previous experience of the way Tivo works I thought I might be able to help those getting to grips with it.

I do champion Tivo (and have done so since I started using one in 2001) as it is one of the best consumer products I have ever used. There are some things about the new box and the quality of the EPG data which could be tweeked to further improve the experience and I hope VM implement these but I do honestly believe it is in a different league to V+.

I think people should make an informed choice about whether to get Tivo based on whether the additional features it has are worth the additional cost to them.

I can't believe it has been suggested that I work for VM just because I like Tivo and would recommend it to people.

Perhaps I am part of a VM Black ops team!! :D

Just looked in my series links and this series has been selected to record and it will record the HD version;).

My problems arent the bugs, but the things left out. Reminders, lack of buffer correctness, etc

I didnt set it up, if you remember it wasnt on the epg so I setup a wishlist for chicago and code as keywords. Tivo found it and set up a recording for me. This is what TiVo does best.

Regards

John.

It is rather sad isn't it. Anyway welcome to the forums and keep posting valuable information. It remains to be seen if I like tivo as much as you but I will find out this week.

Why DF are you going to recall the lies and speculation you have come up with on here , HD spending spree , red button arriving in weeks said months ago , the list goes on. Anyway that's the end I'll let you get back to your TIVO issues ;)

Good point, DF you did say all those things.

Muppetman doesn't have tivo, so I'm sorry, but in my view, his opinions aren't as relevant as those who have the tivo and are posting from experience.

I can't recall anyone saying Tivo is perfect; it isn't. So where are these posts Muppetman is refering to?

Here he says closer to April than August for the red button, seems pretty accurate to me.

And here the spending spree is sometime this year, plenty of this year left.

Andy, I'm new to the TiVo party only having mine installed about 2 weeks ago.

They're clearly alot of things that need polishing, all HD menus & flawless EPG data for example. As I can see you were a TiVo owner back in 2001 untill the last year or 2, did the TiVo get any updates during this time to improve the UI & functionality etc?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Hi

I dont recall any major updates but the business model was quite different ie you bought the box and added it to your current set top box (on digital in my case) and then paid £10 per month (or £200 one off) for the guide data.

The system had been available in the Uk for at least a year (i think) so I suspect any initial issues (if there were any) had been addressed by then.
