It doesnt seem integrated whereas it should automatically show me all episodes available when I click "go to catchup tv" from the epg even if I have just had the box installed today as this isnt something that is stored on my box.

The TiVo Team are aware of the Catch Up EPG fault and should have it fixed after the Bank Holiday.

We had our install on Thursday and thus far I am impressed. Does anybody have any idea what games and apps may be added?

No not at the moment.

No offence here Andy but looking at your posts it would appear to me that you are either working for VM or TIVO , im not sure which.

No offence taken but I can assure you I have connection to either other than as a customer.

I discovered Tivo in about 2001 and was immediately blown away by the experience delivered by the Series 1 box.

I reluctantly switched to V+ when it was launched for its HD and multiple tuner abilities and have been hugely disappointed with its limited functionality, lack of reliability and slow performance.

I am just glad to finally have a box which combines the hardware (HD and multiple tuner) benefits of V+ with the Tivo interface and functionality + lots of great new features like remote record scheduling.

In my experience most people who live with Tivo for any length of time become real fans of the experience - and, for my sins, I am one of just one of them! :)

Installed yesterday PM was installers 5th install and he pretty much had it down to a fine art, plug in tivo and adjust levels, relocate V+ box to bedroom, check which card Virgin wanted to be put in V+ now and remove V box. Back to tivo to finish install and and give me a comprehensive demo and then down the road to tag our cable in the local headend.

So far i am pretty impressed with the box and the wife seems happy too ;) there are obviously still some teething issues, which is normal with any new product in my experience but it is actually fun searching for stuff and adding recordings, wish lists etc. Box seems nippier than the V+ but i have barely scratched the surface of the hard disk so far. PQ is marginally softer than V+ on SD, looks identical in HD to my eyes, but iplayer is definetly poorer and i hope this gets sorted :erm:

Sorry but for me this just plain wrong....

Without me doing anything my V+ started recording F1 2011 all on its own.:D

Maybe its to do with the quality of the EPG guide and what you have series links set for. My V+ is much more than a VCR, perhaps a better description would be three VCR's linked to video jukebox !! No thats just plain clunky but you know what I mean;)

Still TiVo install scheduled for May....

You mean "late" there, didn't you? ;)

Anyone know if it actually did start early or finish early or maybe the tivo clock is a few minutes out.
Weirdly, it started on time (18:00:38 to be exact) and yet finished around 4 mins late!! :( (Hence my comment above!)

I read the same post and did not come to that conclusion. Even if he does, is he not entitled to his own opinion? Besides which, his post was hardly a "glowing report" on the product, was it?!

Really? My V+ season passes run into the hundreds and I never once had an occasion when a new series was detected and recorded.

I hope you like Tivo when it arrives - I think you will soon see what I mean about V+ being more like a VCR in comparison. :)

I agree about the problems - should be sorted by now.
Woah! He's admitting there are problems with the box. Doesn't sound like a company line to me! That said, has anyone from VM officially said that there are actually no problems with their new Tivo service? Nope. Not that I am aware of.

Quote:

I find the box much faster and responsive than v+ but I didnt use it much during the first 24 hours. The initial data download may be slowing things down for you.
So that's personal opinion and not "company line".

Quote:

Some people have also reported a slowing down as the hard drive gets full but as I have not been above 12% full I couldnt comment on that.
Again, personal opinion. Mine is about 12% full too and no slow-down here either.

He mentions good things and bad things, so I'd say it's a "fair and balanced" post.

He may or may not work for VM but given that there have been many positive comments about tivo from non staff why would you make that comment just because he is a positive poster. Look at the poll results on here and there are more people very happy than unhappy. As someone who is about to get tivo fitted I welcome all information about the box. Positive and negative. That's why I asked VirginMediaPhil his opinion of the pq yesterday, because I know that despite his user name he is very unbiased. What annoys me are the ambulance chasers who are not going to get tivo in the near future but jump on any negative comments and ignore the positive. Or they say they must work for Virgin Media.

You seem to be under an illusion that I want TIVO to fail which is rubbish after all competition can only ever e a good thing.

It would be pretty hard Carl for a VM employee to deny there are problems with TIVO just hunt the forums , there everywhere. Some people are just very blinkered ;)

Shows correctly in the office too. I wonder if he's looking at a repeat on BBC HD, rather than BBC1 HD?
