As I understand it, archiving to DVD is of dubious legality (in the UK anyway) because of a court case going back to the 1980's which established that recording TV programmes is legal only for personal use and only for time shifting purposes, ie strictly speaking you cannot make a permanent or distributable copy.
This is largely overlooked for analogue recordings of SD content (ie via a SCART cable), which is what V+ does. So far as I am aware no PVR permits copying of HD material. |
